This is what i was taught in 1st year BE chemistry dude.Originally posted by Shadowfax View Post
Are u sure about this ? How can particles come up at mouth and deposit there ? I've heard this for 1st time..... if rust is not at mouth, why particles don't remain at the original rusted place ?
It makes sense. just consider, when u rub the rust at the mouth, and the mouth looks good as new the rust had to be due to iron at another area in the tank(rust contains iron oxide).
correct me if i'm wrong. i dont remember it clearly.
I'm seriously confused about which bike to buy though. half the people recommend pulsar150 and other half gs150r.

Hi,
Dont just go by the figure... they are just for illustration purposes...
In the figure.. the rust might as well have formed on the other side..
Usually rust is formed when Iron(surface) comes in contact with water and (atmospheric) oxygen for a long time. It is very natural..
the only way to prevent rusting is to use protective coating on the metal surface...
It will still rust when the coating fades... its just nature...
What could possibly be the reason is the petrol vapors inside the tank might be providing the Hydroxyl ions(OH-) which are reacting with the iron and forming rust.
I think suzuki shold seriously consider to apply some plating on the interior of their tanks... nothing else could do the trick.. i think

I know I have been out of the discussion lately, I have been busy as my mother in not feeling good these days...........but I just thought to drop in to let people know....completed 7000 KM on ma GS and going absolutely good. Few things I would confirm....
After 7000KM....
my bike average is sticking to 50-52 in city.
Disc Brakes I dont know why or how have improved with time and now its locking the bike pretty well.
No rust of any kind anywhere what so ever.
No change in engine smoothness and ride comfort
No flaw either physical or internal what so ever.
I still havent changed the headlight so cant comment on that.
3 Services completed and no complain in that department as well.
and BTW I lost the count of GS owners on this thread. Any one who can put some light on how many GS owners are there in the family now.
and congratts to all new entrants.......
Happy GS riding..... :-)

I know it has no other problems. i went and test rode it twice in two showrooms till now. Its awesome. I couldnt feel any vibes at 3.5k-4k rpm also.(i tried riding at that rpm for longer time also).Originally posted by Shadowfax View Postok thanks... what Im thinking is I will try that rust resistant spray and see what happens.. and seriously dude, except this rust GS has nothing wrong in it. The digi speedo and tank(outside atleast) is good.
Thats why i'm so tempted to buy it.
In both showrooms they denied that this rusting occurs at all.(airport road and rajajinagar).they're like we never had a complaint like this till now !!

I do the above procedure every day on my Ambition135, the engine will be smooth and clutch very +ve through out the day !! If not the engine feels bit harsh, for first few kms (upto 5kms max.)Originally posted by animeher View PostEach morning, I have made this a habbit:
Without switching on, kick the lever 7-8 times, simultaneously pressing and releasing the clutch. This helps in circulating oil. Then, the bike is switched on, and started in the next kick. Keep it running atleast 15-30 seconds idle, and then move on. This ensures the petrol flow is smooth, and the engines remains good for the whole day.

GSR owners/thread starter/Mods, kindly embed a poll on fuel efficiency right here, GSR is becoming increasingly popular with every passing day over Honda siblings for supremacy in commuter segment. Since fuel efficiency is an important parameter, it would help xbhp readers with important info. on GSR ?
Avg. fuel efficiency of your GSR is,
1. Below 40 kmpl
2. 40-45 kmpl
3. 45-50 kmpl
4. 50-55 kmpl
Thanks !
