hi guys my bike done exactly 497 km. on the first day of my delivery i put 11.3 l petrol + 1 litre ( guess my dealer put 1 litre petrol) so its 12.3 l. still i am going in main on.. i guess reserve for GS is 3.5 litre. so petrol in main is 8.8 litre.. so till now my milage is 497/8.8 = 56.5... riding condition. mixed one. in that 497 i went in highway around 100 km. remaining in traffic. since i am new to the bike..i didnt give proper clutch & gear to my bike... so i have a doubt that my bike cosuming reserve petrol. without i changing the knob towards reserve. is it possible? and while i am in around 3 kmph speed in 2 gear.. often get some sound tik .. tik.. i dont know from where it is coming. to readuce that sound if realese the clutch further, engine get off. is there any problem in clutch?? also i feel my clutch lever applying more back force. i feel pain in fingers.. so cant ride in 2 nd gear in traffic.. is it possible to adjust that? and also tell me is it possible to rearrange that gear lever to accomadate my toe and heal. bcoz its really uncomfortable to move my foot to and fro to low down and up the gear..

apart from this everyting fine.. now i didnt even get that 3.5k rpm vibrations.. now my bike has zero vibration upto 63km. ( 5 k rpm) above that i didnt check it

      • Ok.. Something weird happened today. Someone please explain me this phenomenon. It goes like this.

I was actually turning the bike in my home for washing and I started my bike and turned it in the position I wanted and then I switched off. When I tried to switch ON again I could not use ignition switch nor kick start even with choke. There was no way fuel was empty. There were surely 10ltrs in it. I tried so hard. Then I kept it in side stand for a few minutes and tried again. This time I could start the bike but I noticed that the idling was zero (usually it is 1.5krpm) and I had to give some acceleration to start it. Once it had exceeded around 3k rpm, it was as though 3.5k was my idling. I was puzzled. I switched off and tried again. Same result. Later I noticed that the red switch on the right side of handle was off. Then I switched it on and tried. everything was back to normal, 1.5k rpm idling. It must have gotten switched off by mistake when I tried to turn. Now something else crossed my head. That red switch is designed such that it cuts off all electrically circuitry preventing the bike from starting. Then how did the bike start in off condition ??

        Any solutions/reasoning please ?

        • Water must have entered into the red engine kill switch and completed the circuit. From next time, keep water away from the switch-gears.

          • there is a problem with my switch too...sometimes even wen it is in on position..the bike wont start....it will only start when i push the switch hard...the service centre people told they will replace the switch when i giv it 4 1st service....

my rusted tank have not been replaced yet...they had told me tat they will call me last week....no response yet...

            • Guys,

Seems like even i am a part of the now famous Rusted Tank Syndrome. This thing seems to be spreading like the H1N1 Virus . I checked my Tank a couple of Days ago and found some rust on the inner circle.
Am posting some Pics taken from my Cell Phone. Not very Clear though.

Am wondering if all the other Company's Bikes Fuel Tank as well start rusting as times goes by or is it only with GSR. Cause i never bothered to check the Petrol Tank of my Old Bike.

Looking at the Pics, is this much rusting proof enough to demand for a Replacement of Petrol Tank?
My 2nd Service is due in this Week. So, Suggestions Please.

Rust on petrol tank neck is as common as probably a nail in the tyre. Don't just panic at that. May be you can wipe it off with a cloth damped with petrol.

                  Abhi,
This is more than enough to ask for a replacement of the fuel tank.Just make sure you give them in writing about the rust problem & ask for a solution to this. Also remeber to take an acknowledgement from them & ask them to mention how much time will it take for a new tank.

Can you please let me know who said this my Friend? I can show you the pictures of my Nov 2002 Fiero petrol tank & there is not even a particle of rust on it.

                  TO ALL,
There is some serious problem with the GS150R regarding rusting. The petrol tank neck gets rusted again & again and till date I have 2 tanks replaced and the 3 is in line for replacement. Some have also reported a rusted chain cover & even I have reported the same. I have also reported front forks as rusted & even the silencer bolts.

To all the GS owners, please check your bikes for the rusting parts and inform the service centre about the issue immediately in writing and also write to the Suzuki guys on their website regarding the problem.

                  • true to an extent.... ok mates...an honest suggestion.....go for a thorough check up of the GS150R before buying one...especially check for the rust at the prone areas.

I have seen that the Zuki don't have a very good parking space for the new vehicles...(GS 150R is what I am talking about). Quote me or dont quopte me on that but am too less impressed by the way they park and deliver the Vehicles to the Dealers.

Hey guys, I had been again to Suzuki showroom for a Test drive...even though I am buying the bike next month....I feel like going to the showroom every now and then for a test drive....

This time I had been to my native bangalore and went to Rajkumar Road suzuki in Rajajinagar...
and as usual I had a test drive...then I started pestering the showroom guy with all the problems you people have discussed in this forum,...

As I bought up the tank rust issue...he told me that...he also has received some complaints but only very less...and he has replaced two tanks....

he told me that....this rust issue is mainly in the Blue color GS....I do not know how true it is....Guys please let know all the people who faced the rust issue in tank are having Blue GS??

And as I told that suzuki ssholud do something about it....he told me that they have forwarded this problem of rusting to the japanese engineers and they are working on it....

meanwhile he told me a solution to avoid the rust....he thought he was very smart...
Well the solution was that....once in a month or every 1000kms he told to fill up the tank fully and add about 30-40 ml engine oil in it.......he told to do this only once in a month.....

I politely pointed him out that....we should not be adding oil in petrol...as this might have some problems.....he justwaved hi hand and told that....there would be no problem...

he told me this is a way to avoid rust in the tank...for all those who have purchased the bike already.....now as the problem has been forwarded to the concerned people it will get solved soon.....so he said....I do not know how soon...

I was not much sure about it.....so guys please let me know...if the "adding oil" could be a solution for the people who have already purchased the bike????

Will there be no problems for the bike?? As I am not much techie about the bikes.....I request the experts to please provide their comments on this......

I second what DCS has said. When i wanted to select my bike the salesman took me to the so called godown. it was nothing but a shelter besides a dilapidated building with bikes covered in plastic sheet only.......... i asked him if this is a proper way to park the bikes, the guy just shrugged and said we do what was boss orders us...............the showroom i am talking about is SWARGATE suzuki in Pune....
Guys can we make a list of parts to check for rust?????? I am gonna take the delivery of my bike tomorrow.

All showroom has very bad shaped godown, some are visible and some are not. no comment on this though...
I strongly feel bad parking the vehicle before delivery should never lead to the rusting, in fact its the material used, there is some serious issue with the tank material used by the suzuki, if we bring to their (Suzuki india) notice then they might change the supplier, and might recall all the tanks supplied before. Lets wait and see, even i got a rusted tank and asked for the replacement.

                          • well, believe me, you dint understand what I was saying, anyways....dont gio to the showroom with a check list, rather, be prompt enough to fight for your rights if you are duped. In case if you see that there is something going bad withn your bike, get it replaced...but I still would like to add...dont go to the Showroom complaining about the Tyres and all... . any more specific information..pm me and I will tell you.

Hey Thanks for your Suggestion. I was one of them who reported a Rusted Chain Cover but that was due to Acid Leaking from the Battery i guess. I had asked a replacement of Chain Cover but nothing as yet. I had also written 3-4 Mails from the Suzuki Website regarding my Rusted Chain Cover Issue but no response from them.

My 2nd Service is due in this Week.
Am planning to call Suzuki and have a word with the Service Head of the Western Region, before giving for Service.

True. Very True. I purchased my Bike from Swargate Suzuki. I have been to the Area where they keep the Bikes in the Backside. Very Dirty and Shabby Area.
Some Bikes aren't even covered and are full of Dust. In my Case, i did not even get to choose my Bike as the Showroom Guy told that there was only one Grey Bike from the new Shipment which arrived and he has alloted that Bike to me.
