He was very courteous and polite as u said. And suggested me to be highlight the issues during the service camp time...

According to me, the main Suzuki team messed up with the bike and its quality control.. So, Doesn't mean that we have to pounce on the SC people, they r only appointed to work there...
In-fact i was telling the same to Mr. Satish also.. He was pleased with my attitude towards him, since he was hearing only complaints n shoutings from most of the customers i suppose. He then agreed with the defects of the bike and hope he would definitely support my complaints during the camp...

So, i am definitely going stress on the problems...
If any dear XBHP buddies from Chennai willing to join me please send me pvt message.. Still i didn't receive any invitation, But will be going to ABT Suzuki Nandanam

    Sir,
Could you tell me when they are conducting the Suzuki camp? Is it @ ABT Nandanam or elsewhere? Please let me know as i also want to visit the camp.

    Thank you!

        • I had gone to Motocross 2009 at Shahu College, Pune. While returning, I noticed my fuel knob is turning 360 degrees! I have to rotate it many times before it locks on. Seems someone tried to steal petrol.

Can I get this checked at local garagewala, or is this problem better addressed by Suzuki SC only?

Even I had that problem with my bike. The problem comes because of the plastic knob.It is actually a DIY job but head to the service centre & ask them to replace the fuel knob for FREE.

            • Oh, so nothing to do with someone stealing petrol! I'll visit the SC for this soon.

me too have same problem when i buy this bike as a new, what happens is ,i Turned in opposite direction by mistake and due to plastic it went wrong direction to reserve(anti clockwise),my bike refused to start as the knob not in reserve postion, that day is sunday, anyway i tries with choke it went till a known local mechanic shop where i opened and set it correct again,So people should handle this reserve knob very carefully otherwise u cannot start the bike

                • Hello guys,

                  One prospective GS buyer here.
I want some help from you guys in deciding on the perfect bike for me.
Its more of an enquiry about the GS150R, so I am posting in this thread.

                  I'm working in a S/W MNC in Chennai, I've previously owned a Yamaha YD125. I am not a speed enthusiast, more of a commuter/cruiser.
I am planing to upgrade to a 150 cc bike. I am planning to own this bike for more than 5 yrs.

I am not considering the following bikes,

                  Bajaj and TVS

I have ruled out Bajaj and TVS (no offence to their owners) bikes, as I am not confident in their build quality and reliability yet.

                  Yamaha

Yamaha was my favourite but I feel their offering FZ and Fazer comes a bit too late for me, as I need good pillion rider comfort as well and the mileage seems to be on the lower side.
So sadly Yamaha is out of the way.

                  Honda Unicorn:

Already have one in the family (brother).
Outdated styling, no LED tail light, no digital console.
A bit too common on the streets.

                  HH Hunk:

Was never a fan of its styling and name. Looks big in the front and too timid in the rear.
No LED tail light, no digital console.

HH CBZ Xtreme was the only option left for me, it has its set of cons though.
No digital console. A OK mileage (my friends 2007 bike is giving 42-45).
Not a head turner in style (but its Ok) and the new model has only few consmetic changes.

I was planning to buy this bike even though I was not even 70% convinced this was the bike I was looking for.
With no other major releases/upgrade in 150 cc announced for 2010, I felt I was stuck in this as I am planning to buy a bike in Jan 2010.

Then I saw GS150R AD behind a Governmentt bus about 10 days back. Yes that was the first time I saw this bike, even though it was on the market since Feb 2009. I can't remember watching its AD on tv, whats up with Suzuki and their marketing dept (seems like they have given up on this bike already ), they used to be good at marketing (Remember: 'The no problem bike' ).

I decided to check this one out. Heres my opinion on it.

Though the styling was not eye catching, except for the rear and the birds eye view of the bike, which was really stunning, the bike had all I wanted for.
The best tail lamp I have ever seen, distinct from other bikes.
The digital console was just awesome. Can't express in words.
Very good mileage (50+) for a 150 cc.
                  Gear indicator.
Sixth gear overdrive to reduce the load on the engine.
                  Comfortable riding position.

I felt this was the bike I need, and was first time happy about buying a bike.

But I have some queries regarding GS150R, GS owners can you please help in this.

                  1. I have read the noise is on the higher side. Is it true? Is it more than Pulsar and RTRs? How does it compare with HH Hunk and CBZX?
I believe it is more than Unicorn.
                  2. Is the rusting issue still there? Has it been fixed, is there anyway to confirm this? Or buying this bike is still a gamble?
                  3. How is the build quality of this bike?
                  4. How is the A.S.S in Chennai? The Pallavaram Suzuki branch is the nearest to my place, has anyone purchased from them ?
Does the bike have rusting issues? How long is the waiting period?
How is the dealer, friendly? Or should I go for another branch in Chennai?

ATM I am pretty confused about which one to go,
                  HH CBZ Xtreme OR GS150R

My heart says GS150Rm but my mind is still confused.

                  My priorities are:

                  1. Good mileage.
                  2. Comfortable riding position, slight sporty is Ok. I am having slight back problem so don't want to strain my back too much.
                  3. Comfortable pillion ride.
                  4. Less noise. (Heard vibration is GS is very low)
                  5. Budget: 70K (max)

Forgive me for such a long long first post.
Looking forward to hear from you guys.
Quit tabulating grudges. Let it off. Discuss it, then trash it, don't recycle it.

                    Hi joey,
Welcome to XBHP. Gr8 to see you narrowed down to 2... I had 3 before I bought GS(FZ, Uni & GS)... I got this Bike from Jain Suzuki Pallavaram... and was in the sc centre whole of this morning... The SC is pretty good... The guys there are pretty responsive these days(It was not good earlier).. I have completed fourth service and this bike is doing gr8... I did'nt have rusting problem till now(touch wood) hoping not to have in the future...

Hope you have read the whole thread... If not please do read it just for information about the problems faced by owners.... this is a good bike for touring and commuting... Not for drags and stunts... (But still outshines even the FZ in the 0-100 drag)... I get a constant milleage of aound 48 under pretty harsh driving conditions... you'll get more if driven much cautiously.... And this bike suits al your priorities... [not sure about the Xtreme]... Am personally not for it[its a personal opinion]...

The bottom line is this... choose the bike by your heart... you'll never regret...

                      Thanks for your reply mate.

Good to hear you are happy with your GS.

Yes I spent the last 3 days reading through almost 100 pages in this thread. I understand that every bike has its own issues, but since Suzuki has been almost dormant for the past few years, these issues seems much bigger, than it would have been if this bike was from HH stable.

I was wondering if the rust issue was fixed by Suzuki in the new lots. Its been a big turn off for me.
And except few guys, others seem to get pretty good mileage. So its not a big deal.
Can you please comment on the noise in GS?
Is it too loud ? A comparison with other bikes would be good.

The r**t thing was a big issue in some bikes from a particular lot... Even though Suzuki has taken initiative to replace all parts (or even the bike itself if worst), it still pains to have rust on your bike.... the new lot now I think does not have this issue.... My bike is been standing in the past chennai rains... and I'm pretty happy about no rust being formed(touch wood)...

There is absolutely no noise as lower rpms.... Its butter... Only when rpm corsses 6K rpm, the noise is a bit irritating.... I cannot give comparision as I have not ridden bikes at high speeds... May be some one else can help you in this regard.

                          • Guys i just spoke to vipul goel, service head for India and listed out the problems which i'm facing on my GS. He listened to them and told about the service camp which is gonna happen across all dealers in chennai. I told him even i'm aware of the camp through xBhp and not through the dealer. He then put vinod natarajan on the phone and I gave a good account of my bike's problems to him too. He had taken down my details and said he would personally do a test ride of my bike to figure out the problem. Looking forward to meet him on the 14th.

@imjoshee: thanks again for the contact details.

Yesterday I attended a service camp and I'll update about it some time later... But while servicing we found the fuel hose from tank to carburettor has cracked... Immediately it was replaced.... but I could not see any leak as such till date .... The damn SC charged 18 RS as it did not come under warranty... ....
