However since i am studying in another town, i have get ma bike in hometown and transport it there. I insisted on parcel serive but ma father is adamant on riding it all the way sayng the the parcel guys may steal parts or damage the bike. The distance is about 350kms and the bike has to be ridden continously..
Will that trip cause any harm to my new bike. is there any precautions to take to prevent harm to engine. please advice me guys....

Arvind, I think taking a 350 Km trip is not a problem at all.... just go at a moderate speed ... but vary the speed, meaning faster sometimes and try using different gears instead of a constant speed and gear choice. I think this is also a good opportunity to do a proper run-in for your bike. I once did a 550 km trip in a single day. I think you should take a couple of breaks in-between to give the bike some rest.

Don't give bike to parcel wallas just for 350kms. Ride it all the way. Don't worry about any problems, just ride as you would normally. The only thing to keep in mind is to not keep it at constant speed for long time, not to overheat it and not to overburden it.

For ensuring no overheating, take break at 50-60 km or 1 hour, whichever comes first.

For not overburdening, ride it solo, or if you are accompanied with pillion, then dont take too much luggage. I did a 180 + 180km ride while my bike was in running in (about 100-200kms old), and didn't face any problem.

          • this is just a start........

when i recived my bike and after a 12 -15 Km ride, i parked the bike below my building. After pooja and all .. all my friends were looking at the bike like they never seen such bike before..
i think i am the only owner at my area....
one of my friend who puechased CBZ last week .... was looking a bit nervous... any i m very happy after seeing there expressions and comments on the bike... every 1 like the colour and speacilly Silencer as well as the ODO meter...

even my dad also very happy with the bike's look and feel...
he suggested me to go with HH Hunk or Uni....
anyway... i m happy with my decision ....

            cheers,
            Kiran...

            • A small update, after third service i thought this may be right time to test the top speed of GS. Rode for about 15 minutes keeping rpm below 4.5K on NH-47, then went for a bang top speed on 5th gear was 112 KMPH and 6th gear was 113 KMPH.

Even in afternoon road was full of trucks and containers so didn't get any space to keep full throttle for some time. I think it will do at least 115, even after crossing 100 it didn't shudder once. Great feeling of stability.........

              • Anybody know if you can mix same grade oil even if they are of different brands?

                • Don't do it! Probably won't do any harm, but not at all worth trying. Engine oil is one thing is motorcycle that you should not experiment with, because there is not UNDO button. Once something is screwed, that's it. I would recommend don't play around with oil options and variations. Stick to a brand and maintain a regular schedule, that's it

                    • is it reason for rough harsh engine?

I use castrol power1 from 5000KM, It lasted upto 8500(3500km),then given service at 10300km(1800km only run after changing castrol power1), no oil change(but not look the window where oil color visible),after 25 km noticed rough engine...complained posted in thread etc....
Yesterday just want to see level of oil thru glass window, i see black color only , means it lost its viscoscity, even while giving service the SC mech not noticed...
Plan to change oil soon and see result....
last time it lasted(oil) 3500km this time only 1850km something.....??????
Can i try motul 20w 40 it is the only best oil avail here.....
or the SC having mobil 20w 40 which one to try?

Many people are asking me for many days where to get Osram Silverstar 55/60W bulb in Pune. This bulb, coupled with load shedding of pilot lamps and a BA series RR, gives a much better light than stock bulb. This is the address of Pune dealer.

Bahal Motors, Shop No. 5 Cynderella Apts, Sachapir Street, Pune 411001
                          Phone 26347797 / 26349050

He is mainly a wholesaler, so his attitude to retail customers, that too being a Pune shop, is *ahem* above expectations :P But he stocks the lights. So all the best!

Thank you very much Animeher. This is exactly what i was looking for. I was searching for these Bulbs in Pune but could not locate it. Can you tell me some Landmark near this Shop.
I got my Rectifier changed to BA Series. There is a marginal improvement but i need more light.

Can you tell me if this is a direct fit or i need to make any wiring modifications before fitting these Bulbs ? I am also looking out for LED's for the Pilot Lamps? Do you know where i can source these?

Also, do you know any reliable shop in Pune that stock Motul, Petronas and Gulf Oils.

I am nearing 6000 Kms on my GSR and i am thinking whether to switch to Semi Synth or Synth. If not, then i might go for Gulf Pride 4T.

                            Awaiting your reply.

I can't remember the landmark off hand, but I think it is next to cosmos bank. But I could be very wrong. The Sachapir street is small, so you should have no trouble locating this address.

No other modification needed. On your next servicing, give the bulb to SC and tell them to disconnect pilot lamps and replace the bulb. They will do it for free. I too am looking for LEDs, but I require reliable solution, and not just bling that lasts a couple of days!

                              Sorry no idea about oil!

I too want to replace the default suzuki headlight bulb with the "Osram Silverstar 55/60W bulb".Could you please let me know if the capacity of the default suzuki headlight bulb is same as that of Osram Silverstar 55/60W bulb?or is it different.

I the replacement of BA series with the CA series is free of cost or will they levy any charges?
