Why do we need to disconnect the Pilot Lamps? Can't we have the Pilot Lamps as well as the 55/60 Bulb? Is it too much of a load?

I too want to replace the default suzuki headlight bulb with the "Osram Silverstar 55/60W bulb".Could you please let me know if the capacity of the default suzuki headlight bulb is same as that of Osram Silverstar 55/60W bulb?or is it different.

I the replacement of BA series with the CA series is free of cost or will they levy any charges?

      Thanks,
      Nag
Stock bulb is 35/35W, and Osram silverstar is 55/60W. The bulb type is H4 P43t.

Not sure about BA to CA is necessary or not. If it is done by SC, it should be free.

the available watts for headlights on GS are 35 , that's why the stock bulb is 35W. Even if you put 100W bulb, the current available will be 35W only, thus reducing the output. By removing the 5+5 = 10W pilot lamps, you get additional 10W, so now you use 45W to power a 55W bulb, which is a good increase of about 25% power.

Ideally, the pilot lamps should be directly connected to battery and replaced by 1W LED, so that the looks remain intact, and you get full power for headlight. But I don't know how to connect only the pilot lamps to the battery!

        • @animeher but this is like gain something and loose something. You get 55W bulbs and get45W output but the pilot lamps are gone. Rather why not find a powerful 35W bulbs itself. Now this is what i did for my Eterno it had the normal bulbs first i installed the Halogen Bulbs but didn't give good Spread so Then i switched to philips which were very good. Can't 35W bulbs be found which are better than Stock bulbs than switching to 55W bulb but what about the heat produced from the 55W bulbs also?

@ssivakumar.r read the Article i thought first it was 2009 but it was 2010 nice GS top's the list but what happens when Dazzler is put into that test?

p.s Please can anyone tell where can i know which RR unit is in the Bike

          • @adi231189: 35W bulbs can't be compared with 55W friend, you need to see them to believe Pilot lamps are hardly of any use except show off, and trust me, when you are riding in ghaats in dark night, the last thing you want is to show off sacrificing visibility! I prefer highest visibility, that's why I go for max load shedding. The heat generated had no effect on my previous Caliber115 after prolonged usage of 55W bulb, and I have no doubt it will have no effect on GS either. 35W better than stock bulbs can be found, but 35 W bulbs better than 55W bulbs is a redundancy!

Check the last few pages of this thread, it is shown how to check the RR unit. As you will be buying a new one, yours will be the newest CA series one.

Can i try motul 20w 40 it is the only best oil avail here.....
or the SC having mobil 20w 40 which one to try?
This is what my local expert mechanic said about engine oils
mineral oil change it between 1500 to 1800 kms
semi-synthetic oil cycle is same as mineral
for synthetic max 3000 kms but check it once after 2000 kms (depends up on brand )

thanks rajesh, but in a small town, I have limited choice, first i have to search gulf 4T 20w 40 avail or not ,then only I can ask abt gulf 4t PLUS.
Bcos dealers telling me,here no movement for good quality oil due to lack of knowledge... Ya true
But there is castrol power 1 RACING 5w 40 for Rs 795 avail here .....
i want to know who used this oil before? and whats reason behind not to use this oil ..
Now my SC mech told me in phone, Try mobil 20w 40 it last for 3000 km(no dark color thru lens), he tested in other GS(owner forced to tell them lies to sell his oil from show room) its fine and smooth like that...
I went to oil dealer where i buy castrol power 1 and tell abt oil changed to black color after 1800km instead 3000 to 3500km...He replied me ur wrong ... this oil will become dark even after150 km is it so ....(even me lack of knowledge in these matter)
Sorry to write same matter in these thread all bcos of
