  • @thefalcon i am not even a customer i complained about a pre sales issue yesterday the dealer was quoting 1k extra and today i got a call from Suzuki guys didn't ask his post. He immediately called the dealer as a customer and asked the price the call was in conference the dealer quoted as i told 1k etc then he introduced himself and told them why 1k etc and gave me his Mobile number and told me i can call him next time i am going to the dealer he will be present there and i can have a long test ride and also i raised some questions of Mileage he told he will give me complete info on mileage if i could visit the Service center. Sounded Very good but it was Pre-Sales don't know about post sales support.

Anyway, when suzuki contacts you, please update all of us.
Or if anyone here has Mr Vinod Natarajan's email id we could try mailing him too.(if the 'feedback on website' route takes longer to get a response)
Unfortunately i didnt ask him for this contact details when i last met him
I called the mechanic inform abt that now my engine is more rough than before(when test drive after service it is smooth and no sound),he replied don't confuse with others who report problem...ur bike is absolute ok.....
Then i called SC head PONDY ,he replied me don't see website like xbhp May be others not treat their bike not well, they drive rashly and report they have so on so problems....Because MAY be THE SUZUKI(Mr vinod natarajan) ask him to attend my complaint personally ,But in these heat climate he don't want to travel 140km, instead he shout the mechanic in my town. The mechanic other than owner he don't like some third person shouting on him....egoo problem
He(sc pondy) told me talk abt ur problem not abt others by comparing.......
He told he will speak to my TOWN SC mechanic again..rough engine story will continue later

We have the required details about break in aka run in on owner’s manual itself
am telling this because i used HH, Bajaj and TVS vehicles where as i didn’t this much in-depth details in those manuals

even the temperature based oil grading details are there in the manual yes its hectic to read and understand that because its a off line material

More over regarding the mileage we should consider the following facts

          * Nowadays even many reputed petrol bunks are not trustful refer we have a separate thread in XBhp on that

          * Climate (temperature) while parking on direct sunlight petrol evaporation does eats its share; to save that we need to put at least 7 or 8 lts and at the max avoid parking in direct sunlight

          * Engine oil Yes engine oil if the engine is not at its best the millage will get reduced [ you have done 1220 kms so ill bet the SVC guys wont change the oil coz it happened for me too they said its not required as you are not reached / crossed 3000 kms mark ]

i just crossed 2200 kms and felt its time to change engine oil coz of the following reasons
1 The oil in engine is completely black
2 As per my favorite local automobile expert mechanic ravi if the oil lost its viscosity the level will increase (in my case the oil level earlier indicates between high to low (in the mid) and for the past 10 days it was slightly above high
3 moreover engine heat is bit high after riding for 20 minutes
4 During recent days clearly feel that bike slightly struggles during initial and mid pickup
5 and at last slight change on engine Noise

Purchased Castrol power1 (grade 15w -40 cost RS 270/- oil of-course its not the best but better than SVC oil

taken out and inspected the old oil the viscosity level not on par (it flows like water and its pitch dark)

          after changing the Engine oil

Now the engine heat is normal
Regarding the pickup after the oil change i would say my beast is more aggressive
And the noise is gone and its butter smooth again
          Hi MSN,

Thank you very much for the informative post.

The problems mentioned by you are same iam facing ...so might be with the oil change the isssues will vanish....Apart from the problems mentioned by you i also sense some screw loosing sound(hears like the screws inside the engine got off..cannot describe more then this...)during the initial few kms and after that sound can be heared louder, rogh engine and vibes at footrest can be sensed.

Here in hyd..saboo suzuki they use SVT oil..will they agree to use power 1 or object to use only specified oil during the warranty period.let us see, i wil request...

What is the thappet issue all about.... how it wil be(sound)

          Thanks,

Now here comes some info on my above Test ride when the Showroom quoted 1000Rs etc. Now I am someone who goes by the rule book so i actually complained through Suzuki Website that the Dealer is quoting Higher Price and Today got a call from a suzuki Representative And He told me No price has been revised and Rs 1000 the Dealer is charging as compulsory accessories.

So he told i will call up the showroom as a customer and ask the price and he will call me back after 5 minutes and he did call me back and stated a higher price is being charged and the dealer has been told about this.
Also i told him couldn't get a long test drive hardly 400 mts he told don't worry about that whenever you go to the showroom just call me(gave his mobile number). Also i raised some issues you guys are having like the Engine harshness and other issues like Rusting and Mileage he told Just come to the service center we will give you a full Showcasing on the mileage front and also the Person who talked to me told me he will be present when I want the test ride from the showroom and i can have a long test ride

Overall atleast Pre-Sales Support is good atleast directly from Suzuki. Any more issues people want to ask can tell me i will.

can anyone through light on tapet noise?

actually i am hearing some screw loosing sound(hears like the screws inside the engine got off..cannot describe more then this...)during the initial few kms.

Is the tappet sound related to this...

              Thanks,

On my running in period(before first service) i used to get 60+ mileages and will you believe if i said on one night trip i got more than 70 on highway keeping the speed in between 50 and 60.

But top speed of 140 is total blunder, I think 115 kmph is verified one but even though speedo showed it, actually it was only 108kmph.
                Rightly said bro.........

maybe.......dat 140 wud be on a super slope..hahahaahhaaaa......but when i tried on expressway....i touched 118 with full throtle but had to slow down......i think gs can cross 120 without a pillon rider.....

                • Couple of updates from me

                  1. A week before last saturday i finished my second service. all know they put castrol power 1.

                  - i noticed lately. they dint tight the drain plug properly and it was leaking
                  - They didnt drain the old oil completely. i remember my mech used to drain completely and at times wash the inside of the engine with petrol and drain it. even at shell they removed completely by lowering the bike side ways.
                  - even if we do correctly some 200ml will rest inside but as they didn't do correctly and poured 1ltr back the oil was above full

                  Learned,
                  - never change oil in service center.

                  2. Changing the oil
                  - After a week i went to my mech drained some oil and tighten the drain plug
                  - today im not all happy with power 1 it sucks big time. engine is not smooth and also gear getting stuck.
                  - As my odo reads around 4.3k im not yet ready to go for fully synthetic oil.
                  - all my search for gulf 4t was in vain
                  - i went to shell station in tambaram and they asked to put 4T ultra. Fully synth oil 730 rupees and made in Malaysia. But i was not ready for it. And they had the regular Fastrac. though i used before i dint want to use as it is manufactured in chennai perungudi
                  - left shell bunk empty handed and went to one spare parts shop he had shell VSX synthetic based 290 though mrp was 300. But even that is manufactured in perungudi

                  - also showed moto elf but im not sure of that so didnt buy anything.

Any one know good product to try? god i need to run more to put synth soon.

                  3. Cosmetics change
                  - still i dint get pilot LED
                  - But put two red LED strips and connected to brake light. it looks awesome will post pic soon

Please help me in engine oil part. also posting the point 2 alone in engine oil thread.

P.s : dont mistake that i want foreign product and ignoring indian products but the truth some said it is manufactured with tie ups with bharath oil which produces mak 4t. many said its not that good.

First visit the Service centre ASAP and go with the mechanic for a test ride on your bike to show the issue (let him hear the noise from engine). They will never agree with you on oil changing its better if you didn't asked them about oil change or oil brand details and all. Just change the oil with the help of your well trusted mechanic (local mechanic) you will feel diffrence in next few kilometersDURING OIL CHANGE SOME LOCAL MECHANIC'S USED TO POUR PETROL OR KEROSINE AFTER REMOVING THE OLD OIL THEY CALL THAT AS CLEANING OR COMPLETELY REMOVING THE OLD OIL WHICH STRUCT INSIDE THE ENGINE NEVER AND EVER ALLOW THEM DO IT BECAUSE THAT IS THE BEST METHOD TO MAKE YOUR ENGINE WORST

                      • yup never rinse the engine if you want a clean engine i suggest just before service fill it up with High octane petrol they have good cleansing agent which will make engine very good. After service shift back to normal petrol.

Also what brand engine oil is Suzuki using? Rajesh i think GS need 20w40 engine oil if you don't find any good brands i suggest you try the Honda grade engine oil they are good i think better than castrol heard lot of bad thinks about castrol.

I saw yesterday AGIP racing oil in suzuki showroom. But Gulf4T supposed to be good according to some people but don't know. Try Motul many people have suggested it but it is very expensive but may run longer.

rajesh i suggest you should try the Honda grade engine oil which is for unicorn it should work it cost 195rs in delhi.

Also try to get Petronas Engine oil i have seen some one listing a list of Dealers you might have to look into lot of pages but that is the only way.

Also i think if you don't find a solution just complain to zuki guys on the website may work.

                        • thanks adi but cant go to fully synth oil now... many suggesting to change at 10k or atleast 7k

will check honda oil too. Who manufactures that ? definitely it will be manufactured by some oil company in india

                          • engine oil = coolent petrol = fuel

Few drops or less than 50 ml of old oil in the engine doesn't harm the engine (even if does it may cause minimum damage) but petrol will harm moreThe purpose of the engine oil is to cool down the engine temperature and ease / grease up the moving parts of engine helps engine in smother operationEngine oil = cool down the teperaturePetrol (fuel) = burn even at a slght increase in temperaturePetrol is fuel sir should not be in a place where we need to cool it coz it will increase the heat just guess what will happen if 50 ml petrol remains in the engile oil chamber with engine oil and if it starts buring inside the engine oil chamber what will happen ......

If Gs's engine is harsh, then others are harsh as well.
If we are talking about the click click sound in the morning, it is the starter motor engaging with the engine at about 1000RPM. nothing to worry. It happens every time the engine goes below 1000RPM.

The harshness at higher RPMs is mainly to do with oil viscosity at higher temps. I discovered that after changing to fully synth the problem is all gone.

The main problem I now face is that, the bike is so smooth that I cant resist speeding. I mostly go 3digit speeds and that is affecting my mileage a lot.

I replaced the Pilot lamps to LEDs myself and after removing the cover I discovered about the rubber padded screw thing. These screws fit the visor. I had to go looking for them at local mecs to fit my visor back. It costed me 40rs for these screws as they come in a packet of 6 pairs and cant buy them single.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.
