The tak_tak sound i mentioned is only present in the morning when the engine is cold. I usually idle the engine for half a minute after the second service i think the service centre guys reduced the idling rpm and it shows a little below 1000 rpm when engine is cold. When i start engine today i will mention about the sound if is still present or not.

About the engine harshness, it's not that of an issue but the reason why i mentioned is that when the engine is cold its so smooth that we feel like gliding and gear shifts are effortless. But as it get hot say after 10 min ride that gliding feel is gone and engine sound can be heard, but no noticeable vibrations as mentioned by falcon. Honestly saying if the engine remains as smooth when it is cold, i will definetly sleep while riding it........

My riding has changed after second service till then i was riding in between 3.5 to 4.5 for about 3000 kms. Second service was done at 4050 Km where service centre guys said i have ran too much without oil change. In second service they changed only oil, but the difference was very noticeable engine was very, very smooth and gear shifts were just a matter of touch that i stopped using heel and began to use only toe. Then I started to rev above 5K to about 7k . When i was doin all these i had a pillion all the time. With a pillion power band is felt above 5k and it gives a strange feeling above 6k with a sudden acceleration. After 5k mark you wont hear any more sound because of the wind, engine is not as smooth when it is ridden in low rpms around 4K.

To check engine rifeness i test rode FZ and Unicorn. They both seemed small as i was riding GS for past 4 months, Fz seemed very small and Uni felt as if the seating position is higher compared to GS. But both were nimble and felt like going zig-zag with them. When i tried to rev above 5k they too had a feeling of roughness, but the gear shifts were easy. Both uni and FZ was tuned for mileage as we are college going students. Unicorn have a strange problem with carburator when the engine is cold, it feels as coughing as if fuel is not reaching engine. It also happens when we try hard revving as for overtaking, we will get a surge of power after a small lag . Fz didnt had any of those problems. And after riding them when i took my GS home, it gave a home coming feeling with rock stable riding posture, didnt feel like goin zig-zag and riding slow was such a pleasure.

After this ride I think i can say that GS engine gives the same feeling as both Uni and Fz. If Gs's engine is harsh, then others are harsh as well.

Yes...... exactly.... I had to change to 5th gear to reduce (before the service it used to be like very smooth) ... now even in 5th I feel that 'sand graining' kind of a feeling.....and something new is I have to change to 6th gear after 54 -55 KMH. And when I shift down to 5th gear at around 35 KMH also it is still there.....

I am not sure if I can explain it that easily.... its more of the feel you get when you drive... I am don't know how to explain it......
Haan.... I can say it is that you feel you are driving in a wrong gear in wrong speed.

Yes!!!! It was the first service and they did change the oil. As you and others have mentioned the gear shifts are getting tougher as you drive and your engine gets hot......

I am starting to get worried about it now...... I did take it to the airport road service centre yesterday also (second time with in 3 days after I took it back from 1st service) and asked the Service Engineer there (the one who actually does the repair.... forgot his name!!) to drive the bike with me for a longer distance. But the minute he started the bike, he told me that there is something wrong it is not fine. Still I made him drive the bike... he was fully convinced about what I was saying. He has requested me to leave the bike to him on coming Monday for a days time!!!!!

Let me see if things change after that.....

Please suggest me one thing..... Now that I am leaving the bike again.... can I buy some other oil and ask him to put that oil instead of the one they have put 3 days back or leave it with that for now? If I can what oil should I buy?
              Please advice......Thanks.

Let the oil be there for now.. since its not free try using it for around 500 or 1000kms. if its really bad then change after 500kms.
About the oil, after 1st service i used SC oil for 800kms approx and then changed to shell advance 20w40 mineral oil.. i could clearly feel the increase in smoothness, which is gone again now that i'm back to SC oil.

by the way, How did you get hold of the mechanic over there ? aren't the mechanics usually on the 2nd floor eith the bikes ?

Atleast can you describe the mechanic so i could go talk to him during the next service ?? (is he the dark, kinda well built, very short hair guy)

Usually i describe the problems to the people in blue shirts but all they do is nod their head and then take your bike for a fun ride !!

                      • @thefalcon did you try maybe the Petronos Oil or Motul they are supposed to be good motul especially. Shell Advance i think has started been Produced by HPCl or BPCL not sure though.

I think Motul 300v is costly but try it out maybe it will clear all the problems i have decided if i do go for GS i will be using my own Oil from 1st service itself.

In airport road they fill veedol 20w40 oil.. guess the SC have freedom of choosing which oil they want to use.
veedol sucks for the record. dont ever use it

not sure who producs shell, but since its "shell" the quality will be good, no doubts on that.. and shell oil is developed in collaboration with ducati so you can rely on it.

I didnt try petronas(dont want to eaither, heard that it makes engine run hotter than other oils even though performance wise its good), and motul 300v i cant use as my bike is just done 4300kms..

And you should NOT use synthetic oils right after first service. dont try using 300v till 5000kms atleast if you buy a gs150.
It will cause glazing as your bike is in run in and your engine will get spoilt..

For next oil change i plan on using either motul 5100 or shell advance vsx4. both semi synthetic oild(15w40 grade)..
that is if SC people dont start making a fuss about wrong grade and say i'm spoiling the engine and they'll cancel warranty bla bla..

you can use that no unless it crosses w40 i don;t think any issues,Also try Gulf 4t or AGIP mineral oil they do have motul i think comes in synthetic but you can try those 2 i think they have mineral oils no problems in changing engine oil if it is Mineral oil based even before 5k Kms.

                            • adi.. u grt watching each and every thing of GS appreciate that

oh so petronas have that prob falcon ? i thgt i will go for it as its the cheapest synth oil.

but i know only Motul dealers in chennai that too thro fellow xbhpian no petronas or AGIP

i cant bug from planet DSH as they adding 200 as shipment charge.

motul is 734 in chennai. so will stick to gulf semi synth for sometime(i will chg from power 1) then after 6-7k on odo will go for motul

even i completed 4k only. so have to wait. what u recommend falcon ? we can change to motul arnd 7 or above 10 ?
