i like the white colour of R15's so thought of changing mine too.

Default orange color is not attractive
there is a thread which explains the diy on changing the backlit display. This is not exactly plug n play. You would need to make your hands dirty. Raj

is it in DIY ? or the one in desi bikes for pulsar ?

Will check and decide. What about changing the pilot lamps to some other LED or More bright lamp ?

Tell me .. is this the model of pilot lamps ? cos i couldnt remove the head assy it was way to tight.. so i removed the number plate bulb

so i can buy similar from shops.

its in desibike. You have already found it. I have been thinking of changing the pilot lamps to led. But for that we would need to use a bridge rectifier to convert ac to dc as led needs dc. I am yet to open the pilot lamps and check the socket type. Not getting enough time these days. The license plate bulb has t10 (also called w5w) socket. We can directly change this bulb to led as it works on dc. I was not able to find led for this socket in my town. Guess i would have to purchase online. Try dealextreme.com. Its good site. Raj

I am a noob myself when it comes to electronics. I have read about these online and just passing them. There are amazing threads going on on xbhp. You just need to look around. Raj

No! No! These LEDs are a direct fit. No need for any bridge rectifier. Moreover any additions to the electronics will make the warranty on electronics void. The pilot lamps are also w5w.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

leds need dc voltage. You can use them in ac but they tend to fuse out quite often. The bridge rectifier would convert ac current to dc. Sure it will void the warranty but only if they notice. There are good chances that they wont. Raj

I think it will work fine even with AC supply..
akfara said he took those bulbs from his old pulsar and put it in his gs150 and they had worked for 4 years. i guess the pulsars had AC pilot lamps 4 years ago too, so it should be fine .

there are pics of the LEDs on page 412, but it does not indicate which brand.. cost is 30 to 100 for a pair, (pretty cheap)..

Anyone know how how remove the current pilot lamps and fit the LEDs ??
(obviously cant go to the SC to do this, due to warranty reasons )

If its an easy process i may put back the old bulbs while giving for servicing so SC people dont notice anything

hmm.. good point. 4yrs is a long time. Removing the pilot lamps is an easy process. Detailed step by step instructions can be found in the manual. Do post pictures when you change. Raj

                          • it is not that you can not put the LEDs Directly and i read some few pages the person who has done has directly fitted them so no issues of AC/DC.

but he has not done to the made Pilot lamps which i don't know if possible without a socket change a full DC convert.

Correct me if i am wrong i don't know much stuff but just putting what i know a little bit.

And warranty no issues just give the service guys 50 bucks they say anything i did that in my Activa which had some parts under warranty and i changed from Outside Worked well

aah sorry forgot ur name i like the lights man really they are awesome.Am i right that u don't need any socket change u can just get the xenon Led's and fix it up.

What about the main pilot lamps have u got leds in that too? I think if u want to get the main lamps to LeDs u need DC and Socket change.I am not a techie but have very little knowledge which i am trying to increase this by asking
