Previously they had filled castrol ss. Now they have put mineral

Does thus affects performance or mileage?

What is the ideal time to change oil when.using mineral?

Affect on performance/mileage can't be measured, only felt... and those feelings can be misleading. Otherwise no side effects.

Change anywhere between 2,000 - 3,000 kms depending on the oil-condition and your riding-preferences.

Also, suzuki service is just not good. They just deny any problem or blame the customer for it. When they do carry out repairs, it is substandard work done urgently. In my experience, service at Value suzuki is okay and Aerolex is good. You can try leaving your bike at Aerolex suzuki bangalore. You have to book a service at Aerolex.

To my shock, the oil level is less than 20% now. I can only see oil if i tilt the bike. Seems like Shell Ax7 10W40 semi-synth does not suit our gs150r; it is getting reduced. Not sure if my engine has a problem now.

My 2012 gs150r has run just 18k km, and now i am again getting the hard gears problem slowly. Even this chain and sprocket problem was pointed out to suzuki service within first year, but they refused to change it under warranty saying those parts are prone to wear and tear.

But as you can see from the posts above, bad service is not limited to suzuki; it exists with every brand, be it Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Hero, Bajaj, or TVS. But for a company like suzuki, whose market share is very less compared to others, their service attitude really sucks. They do not bother about customer once they sell the bike.
- No oil leak ..
- Yes Suzuki service guys blaming shell petrol and oil, my riding characteristics or blaming me for not taking good care of motorcycle despite the fact that I go to them for service shows their lackadaisical attitude.. and yes all service centres have same behavior.. I heard KTM service is good but not sure.. Anyways I think DIY is the best OPTION in hand.. just need to learn stuffs.. This is a great commuter motorcycle .. I can declare the suzuki service centre guys are a real cause of worry for anybody thinking suzuki..
- Regarding oil level reduction its a cause of concern.. shouldnt reduce to 20% in 4K kms (correct me if I am wrong)..
- Regarding the hard gears problems for me it got solved after A LOT OF STRUGGLE... at the end of it I just went to suzuki website and raised a complaint and luckily it worked.. I was called next day and in next 2 days the problem was fixed ... I dont remember correctly, but some major component in the engine was changed UNDER WARRANTY (bike was < 2 yrs old and yea was around 20K kms old) ... Try this approach.. However this approach didnt work for me now so going ahead with selling the bike

Every year they just give statement to increase market share. Currently riding high on Gixxer. Let's see how long this will last. With the latest pulsar breed, it will be tough time for Suzuki.
Agree this bike is awesome in the eyes of the person who can appreciate the good things in the bike..
- LOW PICK-UP: I for example dont like to rev the bike high nor interested in instantaneous pick-up (Anyways it's not safe to do it in cities these days ).. But that everyday commute back from my office to home is a wonderful relaxing journey.. thanks to GS..
- EXCELLENT RIDE QUALITY: No vibes at any gear, any speed.. I just have a laugh at vibrating mirrors/handle bars of REs, Pulsars and apaches at traffic signals .. I dont think any 150cc motorcycle other than R15 and GS150r employ the counter balancing technique to dampen vibrations... GS's big bro INAZUMA is the best (<300cc) bike for long tours.. Agree?
- PILLION COMFORT: Pillions have appreciated the comfort, stability and smoothness of the bike in long journeys.. Girls will appreciate it for sure .. but yes bike feels powerless with pillion but I learnt to live with the low points ...
- MILEAGE is never my concern and I can happily say mileage never came below 40 ...
- HANDLING is not great.. But its not my concern too.. I just want a relaxed straight line ride and no 150cc motorcycle (other than R15) can beat the GS here...
- HEADLIGHT is pathetic I agree.. MFR is awesome but the light is less powerful.. I just overcame this with LEDs lights.. Costed me a lot but solved the problem!
- SERVICE CENTRE support is pathetic ..

Overall the motorcycle a perfect balance of all my requirements.. But SUZUKI should improve the below
1. Service support - train staff on how to behave with customers.. Improve their knowledge on product portfolio
2. Quality and features - Look at gixxers headlight (I just dont understand why a powerful headlight like the ones in RS200 can be provided )... Its as bad as GS's.. horns are even more pathetic.. tank is made of plastic to reduce weight and cost.. YOu can feel how cheap the bike is compared to GS.. I feel the quality is one step down with this product for suzuki.. I went through gixxer's ownership forum and I hear issues everywhere.
3. Move to 200cc and above...

But in my opinion motorcycle manufacturers in India offer low quality products and service to an average consumer (of sub 200cc motorcycles)... I am sure the higher-ups in respective companies are aware of it but they don't care (may be its expensive for them to afford good service in india in such a large scale).. Isn't it the same case with every product in the market?? I think its a case of 'you get what you pay for'.. But am sure even if you pay you are not assured of good service in this country..

Anyways I am looking for a good motorcycle to replace my GS... any suggestions? Gixxer, FZ are out of the list .. I better buy a splendor so that I can concentrate on my life

That's what everyone thinks/assumes, which need not necessarily be true !

Similarly, grass is greener on the other side.

A mason worker may be more happier with a Splendor than with say an Apache180 in the beginning. However, his perspective may/will changes when he becomes a contractor.

Test ride the Pulsar 200 AS. The Best VFM Bike under 1 Lakh. Projector Lamps, 6 Gears, DC Electricals, 23 BHP Liquid cooledEngine. Moreoever quality has gone up on bajaj bikes. Don't think Gixxer can sustain in the long run. Like Honda, Suzuki sales are only Access Sccoter.

Exactly my points. I always have a pillion on my bike and the bike does not ride well with the pillion. But as you said, the pillion rider likes the bike. This bike is night blind. I ride 50 kms one way daily on this bike after 7 PM. So you imagine my situation.

I am also planning to replace my GS with a better bike. Suggest me as well.

Does the bike vibe? Yesterday I happen to see one on road and it looked beautiful. Pulsar always appeals me. But since it is a bajaj make, I am reluctant to buy.

Guys if you are using used engine oil to lube your chain, just remove the chain guard once to see how much dirt has collected in it. I removed at least glass full of black dirt this weekend. This was the first time the chain guard was removed for cleaning in 20 months, 30k km. Cleaned chain with diesel and then lubed it with Motul chain lube. Now the chain makes much lesser noise and ride feels even smoother. Even the gear shifting had some effect for good.

I water wash the bike every 2,000 KMS along with the chain at a local garage. The chain cover is opened, washed and lubricated. I also Lubricat the chain every 500 KMS. My chain lasted approx 30,000 KMS. Last time I changed @ 1,18,xxx KMS, the cost came to 1,100 including labour. Rs.1,500 is high.

The newer breed of pulsar are good. Even i was reluctant to buy a bajaj. But the online reviews and some of my friends bikes, has changed my perception about bajaj.

I dont know how much more the chain would last. I just completed 31,000 km this evening running on stock chain.
Chain was lubed by SVC guys every service with used engine oils. Thats all. This was the first time i lubed it with a proper chain lube.

Guys did full DC conversion today. Headlight now coming up on the ON switch. I referred to the guide provided by SparKot. I had a little confusion towards the end about where to connect headlight. SparKot has not shared a picture of it, nor was I in any state to take a picture.

SparKot said to connect yellow wire on stock RR connector to orange wire from horn. I tried connecting to the orange wire on the 9 slot yellow connector with no success. Finally with trial and error, connected the wire from Yellow wire on Stock RR connector to orange wire that goes to "Master Flasher". I dont know what is the function of that small module. I burnt the 10A fuse though in this process.

I just have one query for all those who have done this conversion. Does your blue high beam light work on the instrument console? Mine doesn't switch ON at all even though the headlights are ON.

Another unfortunate incident happened due to overtightening of one of the screws on the flywheel cover. The screw broke with half of the thread left inside. Oil is leaking from under it now, very small quantity though. Tomorrow I am going to find a workshop if someone can remove this broken screw piece out or else will have to probably replace the magneto cover.

First puncture on my ~ 1 year old ~15k kms run GS150R. Nail had pierced the back tyre. I was not aware of it and with that ran close to 30 kms.
Later I realized like less air in the tyre and observed the nail. Immediately took to the puncture shop.

He said tube is gone and needs replacement. 350 INR tube and fitting charge total.

Is there a way we can shift to tubeless tyres ? Even in my old Passion Plus everytime puncture means the workshop guys first prefer to change the tube.
Are there any drawbacks of making factory fitted tube type to tubeless?

As per advice from a couple of members, I decided to oil the chain in intervals of 500 KM.

I did this for the first time today and boy, the difference was immediately palpable. The notchy kind of gear shifts I was facing from the time I bought the bike a few months ago vanished completely. Before this, chain lubrication was done only at the time of service in 2K intervals. I am glad I learned about this sooner than later as it will surely add to the life of the chain and perhaps the sprocket life. Gear shifts are silky smooth now and the bike too feels smoother.

It's amazing how a 2 minute job from the local friendly mechanic can help so much!

Thanks guys for the advice!
