is it normal or any problem
This is normal with most bikes. You would have experienced this on previous bikes too if u had owned any.

It is good to check the engine oil level as per the instructions in the manual.

They are not giving test ride bikes every year. The dealer here in my town was given a single GS in 2008, when it was launched.
Selling the test ride bikes may be against the business ethics; I think.
Insurance premium in every state is the same; I hope. The only exception may be J&K where our Govt. has no control over anything.
Y r these bikes not registered. If these bikes are not registered, then it means they r maintained as stock which is eligible to be sold off to anyone.

I know rhat test drive bikes of other manufacturers or test drive cars r registered in the name of the dealership. These can be sold later on but as second hand. But keeping test ride vehicles unreg is not inspiring confidence.

Let them do whatever they like or whatever is better for them. We need not worry about it.
Anyway, the dealer may not have kept with him the 2008 model GS to sell to you as a 2012 or 2013 model this year; I hope.

PreviouslyI owned Splendor but I did not noticed it. May be I am just anxious because it is new. I checked the engine oil.
I would like to mention that this is the most comfortable bike I have rode. Apache and pulsar does not come near to it in terms of comfort. And it is really big. even the bullet of my friend (no offense to RE) looked small in front of it.

Absolutely. Gs is very comfortable and refined.
I guessed u might have used a splendor before. Splendor has more space in the engine bay for hot air to disperse (due to the horzontal cylinder). It is quite common in this bike.

The heat is also because the bike might he new and there is more friction. Should settle down eventually.

The wait seems so long. Days are like weeks. I again went for another test ride today coz i am already missing my bike already :P. During test ride the SVC guy ordered my bike from the main distributer as they didn't have a white one in stock for sale. There is an increase in price though than the previous quotation i mentioned here.

              Here is the new one:
              Ex-Showroom Price: 67338/-
              Road Tax & Registration 5854/-
              Insurance 1829/-

              Accessories:
              Guard Set
              Suzuki Jacket
              Buzzer
              Tank Cover
              Seat Cover
              Hand grips
              Number plate
              Numbering
              Body Cover(addition to previous quotation)

After i went to bank to enquire about loan formalities just now in afternoon, I visited the showroom once again to ask for NEFT details and to my surprise my new bike was already there. I wish i could buy it right there but have to wait for 13th(auspicious).

              BTW she is a beauty.

How much did you pay for K&N AirFilter & NGK Iridium SparkPlug? Also, specify the model numbers of both.

Where do they put in initial Engine Oil? At dealer/SVC or manufacturing plant?

It is certainly not a 2008 model bike but a 2012 model that was sold in 2013. I dont think that is ethical, what do u think

I am not aware of bikes, but in the case of cars, they are not registered. After a few thousand kilometers showroom sells it for lower price than the actual rate, because the model gets changed by that time or some other reason. They are never registered so the person who buys it becomes the first owner.

Hi Venky, thanks for the inputs. Yes, I do warm up before putting the locomotive on line duty and do close the fuel valve if parking for extended periods of time but what confused me is most of them in the my office's parking lot don't seem to do these things. Sparkot, preloading the gear lever was just an experiment - I usually cut out throttle completely, disengage clutch fully and then only upshift. BTW, I have tried clutchless upshifts - They were butter smooth . Dear rsk_kelkar, congrats on your new would-be GS. Get over the habit the switching off the engine or bring the unit to neutral right from 6th on every downslope of Goa - in the long run, you will be replacing the clutch/ignition key/engine kill switch faster than us. GS can be most enjoyed with the engine effortlessly purring in the 5/6th. For fuel saving follow the usual tips instead. Instead of switching off, cut throttle and coast - I know this is difficult in a 4-stroker but you can easily adapt.

The price of iridium plug No. CR7HIX was Rs. 575/- and delivery charges was Rs. 150/-, when I bought it on 31/8/13.
Iridium plug does not increase the FE or power of the bike but the cold start becomes easier and the gap need not be adjusted.
K&N is heard to be providing 1 to 4 extra bhp to the bike and that too, miraculously, without increasing the torque. The claimed increase of power is not 1 to 4% but 1 to 4 bhp to any bike.
Placing a piece of net cloth or some cotton waste as air filter or riding without any air filter is better than K&N.

Can't agree more with that statement. We all know the efficacy of placebo effect. It's hard to conclude on anything just based on adjectives from different experts; rather facts and numbers are much convincing to me.

In the last couple of days I've been reading this thread from the very first post; on 616th page now. Despite mileage(using improper/unreliable methods) being the major topic discussed, it's been interesting read so far.

Have you upshifted in peak torque band (6000 to 6500 rpm) without disengaging clutch? Between 3500 to 4500 rpm it's almost effortless but over 4500 rpm it needs some effort, esp the 5th to 6th.

Do you know the rpm details in each gear at which torque peaks?

GS will be at 23-25 in 1st, 40-43 in 2nd, 54-59 in 3rd, 64-70 in 4th and 74-80 kmh in 5th gear at 6000-6500 RPM. Though from the day I bought my bike I am not using clutch to up shift from 1 to 6th and down shift from 6 to 2nd gear, I have never tried to up shift at that speed.
As usual on any subject, experts are of different opinion about clutchless gear shifting. In my experience, upshifting is easy and harmless but if the down shifting is not at proper RPM, it may cause tire lockup as engine works as a brake.
I have no idea about the RPM at which the torque peaks. I think Red Rooster Performance (International) Pvt. Ltd, Mahadevapura, Whitefield, Bangalore is providing dyno test for bikes and cars. That may be helpful.
