That information was from an engineering working for Suzuki. They are continuing the same style; I think. I am not sure about months on which GS's get on assembly line.Originally posted by SparKot View Post@punarvasuBack in 2011 Suzuki use to bring out each model on monthly basis on the production line. You can see Mfd Date on your Smart Registration Card.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostAs per an email from someone in suzuki, my bike was manufactured in nov 2012It seems the model with most demand(orders backlog) gets preference on assembly/production line. Again, that's a speculation which is discouraged.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostThat information was from an engineering working for Suzuki. They are continuing the same style; I think. Re: Suzuki GS150R
What is on the reg. Smart card is not correct. In my case, the reg card says feb 2013 whereas the mfg dare later confirmed by suzuki was nov 2012.Originally posted by SparKot View PostYou can see Mfd Date on your Smart Registration Card.
I am personally not happy with this and have escalated this to suzuki but I am not sure if mine is an isolated case or ifnit is a common phenomenon.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Never had an idea that they change from model to another entirely - A factory would have many assembly lines, no? Can they also use most of them for models in demand
and one or two of models like GS ?
Can I use the Chassis number to find the manufacturing month/year or does it only tell about the year?

Your frame number can fetch u the month and year of mfg but u need to make some noise at suzukiOriginally posted by ashwanth.r View PostNever had an idea that they change from model to another entirely - A factory would have many assembly lines, no? Re: Suzuki GS150R
If the manufacturing month is shown as 2/13 instead of the real 11/12, your bike is one year younger now which means it is a 2013 model bike instead of a 2012. Here the dealer was doing a favor to you. Nobody is to decode the VIN of your bike or enquire about the exact time of its production to create its horoscope as some Indians still living in caves do when a child is born and it is impossible for a bike as each parts are manufactured earlier on different dates, time and places.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostYour frame number can fetch u the month and year of mfg but u need to make some noise at suzuki
The only difference of any lot of GS is in the gear ratios and fuel tank but your bike is with the new tank and sprockets. Other differences, if any, are in the color of some parts and graphics.
I wonder why the thoughts about date of manufacture of the bike are continuously haunting you. Drop it as none of the vehicles reach you on the date of assembling itself in India or any other country. Haven’t you seen even very costly cars kept in open yards or showrooms for months and then sold? None of the buyers are complaining about the exact moment of production of their vehicle.
What benefit are you making if the VIN is correctly decoded by the dealer or registering authority and shown in the RC?Last edited by punarvasu; 10-13-2013, 10:50 AM.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
It is lingering in my mind because people who bought the bike before and after me have all had 2013 models and I dont. My bike has been giving me various issues since day 1 which you dont expect from a new bike.
Please dont try to generalise these issues. No one else may be facing the issues that I am facing. Dont make general comments without looking at or riding my bike.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
As per the RC, your bike is 2013 mode now; not 2012 model. If there is difference in colour of any part, it can be replaced. And the wobbling and side pulling you face is due to some misalignment which can be rectified. If the mechanics at the SC or even the engineer from Suzuki cannot detect the reason as you said, get it checked by a local mechanic. Before that, let an experienced friend – preferably riding 150 or higher cc 6 geared bikes - ride yours.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostIt is lingering in my mind because people who bought the bike before and after me have all had 2013 models and I dont. Re: Suzuki GS150R
Sir, I hav already taken it to a few local mechs but most in bangalore r useless. Some dont even know what bike this is.
I have had bad experience with lodal mechs in bangalore with my kb100 which has been sitting in the garage for 2 yrs wanting expert attention.
The bike when delivered had problems with rear brake drum, petrol tank breather, wobbling, brake binding which no one expects from a new bike. 7 times I hav taken it to service center and no one sems to know what the problem is. In which csse, they can take it bak and replace me woth the new bike. I am not interested in commutes to svc nor in any r and d of the bike.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
1. Rear brake drum: Try to loosen the brake adjusting nut. Clean the brake drum and shoes too.Originally posted by venkan12 View PostThe bike when delivered had problems with rear brake drum, petrol tank breather, wobbling, brake binding which no one expects from a new bike.
2. Petro tank breather: Clogged air vent on the tank is a usual issue of almost all bikes. Get it cleaned.
3. Wobbling: under inflated tire to misaligned wheels to unevenly wearing tires to so many factors are causing it. The only remedy is getting the bike checked by an experienced mechanic.
4. Brake pads rubbing the disc or noise from the brake: It is common in every disc brake as the gap between the pads and disc is less than 1 mm. I was facing this problem for 34,000 kms until the brake pads and disc was replaced. Now too I am hearing some rubbing noise from the brake even though the pads and disc is new and knows it will continue till I stop using a disc brake bike. This cannot be eliminated and it is not affecting the ride and is ignorable.
The only problem with your bike is the said wobbling. Let a friend ride your bike as he may perhaps be able to find out the cause.
Suzuki has replaced one or two bikes earlier but I don’t know whether they are doing it now or not. Anyway, ask the dealer for a replacement and if they reject, contact Suzuki.
If looking for a different bike, Duke 390 or Duke 200 is the best option. But then too there is a possibility of brake noise, wobbling, clogged air vent etc. which are common problems with any bike.
Most of the parts of KB100 are not available now. So the mechanic cannot be blamed for not repairing your KB100. It was a good bike having excellent FE. Somebody has ridden it for more than 24 kms with 100 ml of fuel, that is more than 240 kml, in a competition.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Thank u for the tips. Whilst I appreciatethe wealth of knowledge u possess, however I dont understand how these can be common problems on a new bike on day 1.
I am quite surprised that u r assuming that I have never seen bikes in the past or the way u r asuming that I have not done any of what u r suggesting in the past 7 months.
If kb100 parts are so easily available kindly help the many people in the kb100 thread who r searching for parts. And if they were so easily avbl, I was mad travelling 100s of kms looking for them
No offence meant but suzuki or bajaj can hire u as a pro.
