Not very sure. From my past experience, shell is good. Some of the hp pumps are good. Someone else jokingle mentioned in this forum earlier that go to an indian oil pump only if the vehicle runs out of petrol on front of it.

I agree with that point 200%.

For people nstaying or working ear whitefield, I can suggestto use mats fuel park in brrokefield near cosmos mall.

          Necessary Tools:
          1. 5 & 6mm Allen(Hex) keys for front sprocket removal & for leverage use a 18mm spanner & suitable rod on allen-key.
          2. 27mm, 22mm, 17mm spanners(preferably ring) for rear axel
          3. 10mm, 8mm & a star screw driver for chain cover removal
          4. cutting or nose plier for chain joint clip removal/placing
          5. 12mm spanner for link-rod(torque bar) that hold the drum assy in place
          6. EP-120 grade rear axle oil & Lithium based grease for lubing the chain after replacement
          7. Free & uninterrupted time

          Notable Points:

          • Remove the front sprocket with old chain still on it, guess it's much easier that way
          • working with grease, sticky, oily parts => increased chances of getting bruises

          PS:
Adjusting chain slackness and lubing as usual.
I've used name nuts & bolts interchangeably, which is indeed confusing; sorry!

On the similar lines at my hometown some guys stole Visor, front mud guard & some other parts of Bajaj pulsar(new & well kept) while our nieghbour was sleeping during the night. I had parked my GS & Access just about 15' from that Bajaj. I assumed that bajaj was targeted(aptly chosen) by someone who met with an accident.

ID:	1862881@SparKot, interesting pictures of sprocket/chain change. Also, I think am the only GSpian who has tried/currently runs on Castrol Go! (very basic 20W-40 mineral, placed lower than Castrol Activ). My only concern - it got black much sooner than the previous oils - other than that no problems. I also had a good experience with Servo 20W-40 (the oil I used on my first DIY when the SC filled a 10W-30).

the fact is we cant drain the old oil completely, at least 100 or 150 ml oil remains in the bike, moreover being it as cheep or costly / best or worst / synthetic or mineral or semi synthetic, oil will turn to black color with in 100 kms due to carbon deposits etc....

                          Hi All,

Last day, something unexpected happened in my GS. My bike was in reserve and for filling petrol, i went to an HP pump in HSR Layout. As usual, I opened the tank lock and pulled the cap. Well, next thing happened is, The lock cap just broke and came out from the tank into my hands. I was totally shocked and was thinking how it happened. Filled petrol for 200 rs and somehow, i managed to put the cap back to its position properly locked. I was confused whether there will be leakage of petrol. From there, I went straight to Apple Autos, BTM Layout where i give my bike for scheduled services.

Showed my bike to them , and they took it to the servicing area. There, i spoke with the service manager (Suresh Patil). I asked for replacement of the part under warranty. But Suresh told me it cannot be done and i will have to pay 950 for the lock + 200 service charge, ie, a total of some 1200 rs. I just couldn't agree with him. I came out from the showroom and called Venky. Asked his opinion on the case and asked for the contact number of any GS150R Owner who stays near BTM layout who can help me on this. He gave me the number of two other people (Atkins and Hari) and I called them seeking their opinions.

Venky and Atkins told me to talk to the svc ppl and if required, to escalate it. Also told me to take some snaps of the tank and to send it to Sisuthosh Rawat from Suzuki. As per their suggestions, I took some snaps and asked the service manager whether they can provide the part replaced under warranty or not. Also told them that I will have to send it to Suzuki for further clarifications. He told me that only parts that are damaged can be replaced, and not any broken parts. Also, he told me to send it to whomever i want. I said OK and came back to my room to send email. In between, I called sisuthosh and he too told me to send the photographs.

by 3.30, i sent all the details to sisuthosh and told him about the reply Suresh gave me + the tank problem + the issue of digital console button which started after the service from the same showroom.

I went back to SVC by 5.30 and , again i called Sisuthosh to check whether anything can be done on my case. He told me he have contacted suresh already.

At the showroom, there in a corner was my bike. with the tank cap replaced. Then i had a word with Suresh again and You should have seen him. He was calling me Sir (earlier, he didint even bothered to call me my name), and was telling its replaced free of cost. No labor charges have to be paid. and also , he told me that he will replace the digital console this week. That too free of cost.

the pics and the video which i sent to Sisuthosh.

As i said earlier multiple times in this thread, this is the first bike am owning and i don't have any experience fighting with SVC ppls. At that time, i was really happy that i am a member of this thread + the Bangalore GS 150R owners group. If i wasn't, i would pay the money they demand to get it done. Thanks to Xbhp and Facebook.... and spl thanks to Venky and Atkins for the suggestions and for motivating me to fight with the svc guys..

So, others, always keep the number of somebody who is near your place so that at a point of time like this, you could ask the expert opinions and suggestions..

                          And yesterday, completed 8000 KMS..

Per my experience, darkening of engine oil is gradual although the rate depends on:

                              • make & type (mineral, semi-synth, synth & additives)
                              • environment (humidity, worn out rings, low engine oil & oxidation)
                              • riding style & operating temperatures (shear & wear)

Nevertheless, it's the higher viscosity-index engine oil which promises quality retention longer. If only someone could point out unbiased rating from somewhere.

                              • Datasheets from Engile Oil makers include viscosity-index on the sheet
                              • I couldn't find Shell Oils in the above evaluation report. I'm assuming, Shell didn't send any for some reason.

Wont they be giving a new part? i think we can check the ODO reading when they give it..it should be zero or less than 5 if its new.
