during the service, the people there have a habit of using high pressured hoses to clean your bike. water or moisture may have entered the digital console.

Went to Mysore via NICE road on 21st Oct, a journey 320 kms approx to and fro. Only scaring thought was the loose chain and worn out sprockets.

Regarding the prices, most of them came from your posts. I had no patience to read all scanned copies of itemised bills uploaded by users.

I've nothing much to complain either, it's just that Zapper FQ has 80/100 18", how is it different from 2.75 - 18"?

I'm going to purchase chain & sprocket set(14/41); can you suggest the necessary size of Allen-Keys needed for the sprocket?

Nikhil, best option is to go to the service centre and ask the to take the console apart and clean it for u. If u r not confident to check it urself, dont risk it

It is carburetor overflowing. Get the carburetor cleaned at the SC. Up to that, keep the fuel valve closed when you switch off the engine.

The speedometer console usually does not become faulty and it is not repairable. Let the mechanics at the SC check it and if it is faulty, ask to replace it under warranty. Its cost is Rs. 3100/-.

Replaced the front tyre today with MRF Zapper FV. FS also was available but I selected FV because it has reflective bands on both sides!
The rear tire seems to be good enough for some more thousand kms and hence decided to retain it.
5 and 6 mm allen keys are used to remove sprockets.

kksin123,Most of the Formula 1 products we get are fakes. Buy Armor All wash and wax and their wax and polish. You may get it for Rs. 650-700.

and punarvasuji, one more info needed...

i have seen your posts saying you are getting mileage of 50+ / 55+ . . can you tell me what speed range are you maintaining. ? and approx speed when changing every gears ?

others who get more than 50 , pls share your way of driving..

am continuously driving in heavy city traffic 11 kms (one side) and in it, its only 3-4 kms am able to ride at atleast 60+ kmph. remining 7 kms am riding @ 20-30-40-50 range with frequent brakings, gear changings and stops in traffic jams... I beleive am getting a mileage of 43- 45 with this (approx value, havent checked properly). Do you think its normal? or is my bike giving low mileage?

For warranty replacement, no bike manufacturer would readily accept this. You need to push and throw your weight around. The sonner you go the better it is so you can relate this to the Service you had there. Go back to the same service center.

For mileage, i beleive somewhere between 40 - 50 is good for Bangalore. In Bagalore, we drive on good roads, bad roads and no roads. We also have high altitude speed breakers and low altitude potholes.

Probably Punarvasu gets to do longer stretches on 5th and 6th gears than us.

My personal experience is that I get 40 to 45 even with keeping the engine to less than 5K rpm at all times and in all gears.

It was time to change engine oil. The last change was at 3000 kms. Bike has now reached 5100 kms and so it was time to change.
Went to Shell petrol station looking for oils. They had an AX7 10W40 grade oil costing 350 and an AX5 20W40 grade oil costing 300.

AX7 was semi-synth so I took it. After the change, I feel a smoothness in the engine noise and smoother gear shifts. No noticeable change in any other performance.

the question is what is the average expected lifespan of a semi-synthetic oil.
                        Regards,

Ok... planning to go to svc today evening or tomorrow evening..

I too did the same thing for last oil change. Went to Shell petrol bunk, bommanahalli and chose 10W40, and the gears felt better than before.

                          and sometime back "Dukeday" said

                          "
synthetic oils can be used for a longer duration(KM wise). The usage again depends upon the way the user rides, if he is an aggressive rider the mineral should be stretched for a maximum of 2000kms. If you are a sane rider stretch it to a maximum of 2500kms and thats it. I change it at 1500km.

Semi can last from anywhere between 2000 to 3500 kms depending on the quality of the oil and the way you ride.
Synthetic oils would serve you good till 4000-5000kms. All these oils can last a little more or little less depending on riding style. The more aggressive the rider the lesser woul the oil last. Changing oil early would only benefit the engine.
                          "

Approach the dealer from where you bought the bike or the SC at where the services are done and ask for replacement. If the warranty is still in force, i.e. if all the services are done as per the schedule, they will surely replace that part free of cost.
Properly inflated tyres, air filter cleaned in every 2000-2500 kms and replaced in every 8000-10000 kms, well lubricated and adjusted chain, Castrol 15W-40 SS oil, Iridium spark plug, maintaining or trying to maintain constant speed, avoiding sudden acceleration and harsh braking as far as possible, up shifting at the earliest possible and riding in upper gear, switching off the engine when waiting at traffic signals, trustable petrol pumps which fills correct quantity of fuel etc are the secret behind the mileage my bike gets.
In Bangalore, it is heard, some pumps are giving fuel for only 80% of money you pay, i.e. 8 litre petrol if you pay for 10.
