    • Can we change the Rear Grab Rails of the GS to something sportier like that of CBZ Xtreme or RTR ? The current one is very Bland. Is it possible to say cut it to the desired shape ? Will it affect the riding comfort like aerodynamics n all ?

      • GS- 1 st service.

        03rd May 2010 19:00

Bike Odo reads 760 kms, its time for the first free service. I plan to start at 7' o clock tomorrow morning and reach the showroom by 9. Called up the showroom person and made a deal with him that i would come as the first person in the morning, and i will wait till the service gets over. He agrees since i am coming from long distance (65 kms).

        04th May 2010 07:50

I wake up late, but still decide to go ahead and go for the service. I get ready and leave at 8:30. According to the manual till 800 kms one sould keep the rpm limit below 5000 and till 1600 kms rpm should be kept below 7500. So my eyes were constantly looking at the odo for the completion of 800kms where i can reach the fastest so far in this bike.

        04th May 2010 08:50

Bike odo reads 800 and i give full throttle. Bike just gives a humm sound and the speed increases, i feel as if i am flying, the odo reads 101 and the rpm has not gone above 7500. The bike is in power mode now. I changed it to Power from Eco once it crossed 800. I am very happy and satisfied with the bike as i feel no vibrations at that speed.

        04th May 2010 09:40

Reached the showroom only to find out that there was some problem with the water wash pump, some tube had blown off and they told that it might take more time. I was not ready for this, hence i asked them to carry on with the other stuff except the water wash. I opened the fuel tank and showed a bit of rust near the mouth, they told that they will clear it. Mine is an April Gs150R. They cleared it with an Oil and told that rust will not happen again, i will wait till next service and check if the rust is still there i might ask for a replacement. As aargee suggested i took the oil in a can and checked for any particles, since i had driven very lightly the oil color had also not changed much and there were no particles.

        04th May 2010 10:45

I have to wait till afternoon for the waterwash and polish. I decide to leave. They clean the bike and hand over the key to me. I reach the petrol bunk and ask the person to fill the tank, so that i could check the mileage. I am planning to check the FE on a tankfill-tankfill basis. The FE was 54.5. Not bad at all, i am happy.

        04th May 2010 12:15

The ride after the service is very smooth and i decide to rip the bike on the way home in GST road, it responded very gladly. I am very glad with my decision to buy this bike as it never let me feel tired, the fact that after almost 150kms of driving i am able to work in my office and type this as well, says it all.

That is good at least in a year they have at least tried to solve issues like braking,Rust.

Now i tested the GS again of the person who lives in the colony again short lived he is so busy doesn't even give me for more than 2 minutes

any way since i ride Honda Eterno for me the brake bite was very nice just because in Eterno You don't have those brakes which stop that quick so i was happy with Rear brakes front Dics are good but Apache Dics are way better.

This is just a Small test ride hoping to get a test ride of atleast 3 kms when i visit showroom in few days

+1 to that. The GS rear brake is just fine. Any more braking than this will make the stock tyres to skid.

Every motor shop knows the pulsar pilot/parking lights. Just say you need LED for the pulsar's pilot lights. The socket is the same as the rear no.plate illumination lights. Its called t10 or w5w. I brought it here in mumbai for rs.30 pair. I dont know the quality. Havent fixed them yet.
When I asked about quality he said there are also 100 pair and you also get original ones for rs.1000 pair used in the R15. 1000 bucks for a pair of LEDs...I was blown away.

it wont affect the aero dynamics or pillion comfort for sure. But its not having a two bold on each side... with just bold it wont stay in the same place for sure. it may tend to move. that to if you need to take your bike out of parking or something u may need to drag with grab rails. If pillion holding only you its definitely not an issue to cut the rails

                      .
These look huge.. i think our pilot lamp sockets are smaller than this..

Please don't use the Rs.1000 R15 LEDs-I have used them twice on my R15&they blew off in no time. I finally settled with local Rs.100 LEDs. You get the same ones without the encasing (similar to the R15's) and cost more, about Rs.350 odd, but again prone to blowing.
I suggest you go for the normal LEDs with the encasing-they look good&have been lasting on mine since more than a year. Sasta aur tikau!

Its basically meant for 12V DC, I'm not sure about the GS, do get that checked.

@amul7777: Congrats! 101kmph at 7.5K RPM&no vibes is really really good!

Read pretty much of the views, but the rusting issue of the bike is really worrying me and my friends, we almost decided 100% to get this bike after the monsoon, but reading about the rust to the bike is really made us both to rethink about it.

As one of our member have already reported he have bike which he bought Apr 2010 and at the time of first servicing he saw rust to petrol tank, I thought and even read about that in 2010 model this problems are rectified and corrected but it seems not the case.

Can anyone have anything to say, I still dont want to give up on this bike.

If not this then i will go for any 100CC bike but no other 150 CC. IF not GS then no one!
Comparing to 2009, in 2010 the rust on GS150R bikes is not nil but it wasn't there on most of the bikes.
I believe their is no need to worry much about this as you are going to do a through check while taking the vehicle; moreover Suzuki never denied it they replaced it on all such cases

I have seen rust issues on other brands even in well known top models
but i don't want to change the topic and make that as big thing

just go and drive the crazy...

                            • I used the petronas sprinta 5000 full synth oil. 10w40. I just moved to synthetic. It is much better than mineral oils. Gears fall in easy and smooth and the ride smoothness is magnified. I really love this oil. The best part is is costed only rs.440 for a L. Any one else used it?? Any comments?
