Maybe you call it roughness because you might not have ridden an Enfield before you rode the GSR,but I rode an Enfield Electra for 7 hours and 78kms-2 weeks before I bought the GSR.But still I dint feel it initially, now that the engine has done the break-in,I feel this thump, and its damn sophisticated and blue blooded like a streetfighter muscle bike (only lower in decibels )

GSR owners, there is a beautiful graph which mentions which oils to use on the motorcycle in the Engine Oil and Fuel recommendations section of the user manual.Going by it,the first oil of preference is 20W-40,which if absent or not available..........next is 15W-50 or15W-40...... anyone grinning or smiling after this with me???? 15W50 and 15W40 are synthetics,so enjoy, its also an oil of choice and can be used on our GSR.The temperature and viscosity indices neither varies much from 20W40 as illustrated by the Graph.
I have tried riding a royal enfield, but not for too long.. may be around 2kms or so.

I'm definitely smiling, i think i'll change to motul 15w50 5100 for the next change.. (since 10w40 5100 is not very easy to get)

          • was fed up getting mileage of 43-45 from my bike, while others on this forum are mostly reporting 50+. My bike came back from service this week only, and sure enough I again got only 44kpl in city riding.

So, I went back to read a few of the old posts by anupdas/chief ashman/mach50 regarding tuning the carb. I turned my fuel screw 1/2 turn in anticlockwise direction (to make the mix a little richer, assuming SVC will always leave it lean) and observed mileage. Surprise surprise, have got 66kpl after filling 0.54L petrol. mileage calculation R to R. driving purely city, 80% with pillion, light acceleration, upto 4.5k rpm. Have never ever recorded such a high figure in my last 12000kms of ownership

clearly a trial and error method, but seems to work for me Will check mileage again in the next couple of days and reconfirm.

Thanks very much guys. the old posts on this forum have been really helpful !

welcome to the gang ! you will not regret your decision as this is one bike which is an extremely capable performer. Check for the below at least at the time of delivery:
            - rusting on any of the screws/inside petrol tank mouth, scratches etc
            - odo reading within 50kms
            - vehicle papers/toolkit/first aid kit/manual
            - u may get teflon coating done if SVC is offering the same. ABT nandanam does it for 300Rs.
            - refer your manual for detailed instructions regarding break-in of engine and tyres. Please do start using it immediately and enjoy your ride

            regards

guys thats not the way to read the recommended oils. better stay with any xw40 . motul 5100 is semi. which is majority of mineral based. change directly to petronas or motul synth

Can anyone suggest me a good SC in Bangalore to get my bike to the previous glory?
Try Airport road or millers road suzuki

34-35 kmpl should be fixed by checking the carb
refer the previous posts from anupdas with that you can try some fix by ur own

when measured from clockwise lock, fuel screw is at approx 3.2 turns anti-clockwise.
