  • Hi everyone,
    Today I noticed a funny thing about my bike.
    It has been raining for days n my city,my bike often traverses water-logged areas.Mud and dirt has made a shelter on the lower part of the bike,no use washing now,it will get tainted again.
    However,today as I was at a red light in the rains,my bike idling normally,I found smoke coming up from the silencer bent pipe and the crankcase.I turned idle off.As the traffic released,my bike ran as usual.
    After I reached back home,I gave it a thought,
    1.I rode at constant low speeds today,never crossed 60kmph,due to slow traffic and slippery road conditions leading to heating up.
    2.Mud and dirt has made an insulating layer on the bent pipe and crank case,which is not letting the heat escape normally.
    3.Constant rains is causing no free air movement,as a result of which this air-cooled unit is suffering heat.
    4.The rain drops are getting steamed up when it is falling on the hot parts of the bike and thus is causing the smoke.

    So,everythings ok with the function of the bike,
    I made the observation here in case,any other owner faces something similar and panics.

    So cheer up guys.

      do check how far it is from clockwise lock. If it is more than 4 turns away, then likely to give richer mix than optimal. my svc setting was 2.5 turns, which is too lean i guess... so go ahead and experiment to see what woks for you

      • Guys... i am 22 year old boy from Kerala.... i likes the new Suzuki GS150R ,i am a fan of Suzuki products also . my friends said to buy Unicorn Dazzler or pulser, nobody will buy Suzuki bikes because the lack of getting the Spare-Parts..! Do you think so..? Now I am a bit confusion and please help me what is the best bike in this segment..!

        What makes the GS better than Unicorn.?

        What are the Common Complaints arises from your GS150R and also give some solutions...!

        Past several days i was reading through this Thread and this seems Excellent ! it really helped me to make me such desition to buy GS150R....

          Power,performance and big bike feel,gadgets,mileage makes it better than Unicorn,
          Smoothness and Gearshift quality at par with Unicorn.

          Various riders at times faced various glitches with this bike,but thats normal and that happens for all bikes available.No serious or wallet emptying problems ever crops up.

          About,the spare parts:
          You will always get them from the Service Centre recommended by the Showroom from which you will buy the bike.
          Getting spares for this bike is no issue at all.You just have to be daring enough to buy something out of the box and enjoy the difference you make later.
          I dint listen a word what others have to say while I went for this bike.Now others have very little to complain when they actually envisage the performance of my bike in reality...........they only have a lot questions struck with awe.

          Happy Purchasing for now...........

                i think, i finsihed 9th service in smk velachery road two days before.. i reported the problems as

                1. some sort of noise.. as members mentioning here cam chain noise.. excatly at the location of engine and chain joint, some kud.. kud.. sound.

                this problem is not rectified.. still getting that irritating sound.. i really dont like this. plz some one guide me how to explain this to them..

                2. low light.. asked for rectifier replacement. but he told its not possible. if i want to increase the intensity of light, he will arrange for a bulb ( white color) for RS 1500/-
                is it gud? if i change it white.. then what should be the positioner bulb color

                3. i told to them that there is no need to change the oil ..as i changed gulf 4t just 500 kms before.. but they made top up of 0.2 litres. with suzi castrol oil. and collected Rs 50/- from me
                will it do anything wrong to the engine?

                but now after a day of servicing my bike.. i felt one strange problem. i felt that some force is pulling towards the right side..i mean the handle is very soft towards right turn and hard towards left.. during driving especially slow in traffic i dont have any proper balance.. what should the problem here..

                guys from starting itself i am getting lot of problems with this bike.. though its a small problem.. but very irritating.. now i start to think to change my bike.. so plz tell me what is the best alternative to this bike..

                  Report this to Suzuki via their website complaints page that will put pressure on the dealer to work on your issue pressure on the dealer to work on your issue

                  thats a costly option tell him you buy the bulb and ask him to change it, as rectifier change wont do much with the headlamp it only makes the headlamp reach its full power at low RPM

                  Fellow GSRinans in XBHP please suggest him a gud bulb with out playing much with wiring or circuit stuffs

                  Not Sure but the effect of the castrol will be their in the oil if you are not comfortable with the bikes performance then go ahead and remove all oil and change it again to gulf4t or what ever you wish...

                    Call and check with them is that RR unit is on stock with them

                    coz RR unit is not an FRU (Frequently replacable unit) or frequently repair or replacing spare

                    mostly they wont keep it in stock so check with them before going

                      verified FE figures today.
                      traveled 52.4 kms on 0.894L petrol. FE= 58.613kpl. fantastic for someone used to 45kpl !
                      fuel screw at 3.1-3.2 turns from clockwise lock. idling is at 1300-1400rpm when engine is warm.
                      got the figures in 100% city driving, congested south/central chennai with 90% pillion. light acceleration, upto 4.5k rpm.

                      guys with perennial FE issues may try this setting for improving their FE.

                            No Idea but some uneven thing is impacting front wheel balancing while turning
                            Do check with SC or just ask the local mechanic to review (test drive ) he will tell what exactly it is

                            also check manual you may get some clues

                              Hi , me too have strange noise coming from engine, I hope its valve noise(tic tic),For that first i made my mech to adjust cam chain which he overtightned ...result i got new sound "mmmmm " mmmmmm" hamming sound , then i told him to revert back to old setting(loose the cam chain),So even me waiting for some one answer for US......

                              And regarding one side pulling its due to racer cone adjustment(see 4 screw and one big screw in handle bar),even one of my friend test rode and tell me that ur bike pulling to one side and its difficult to control ....he said...
                              Then i rode i never find it ,but anyway take to mech , he agreed that ur friend is correct and tell me how u rode this bike with such great difficulty... and he adjusted it ,its Ok then
                              But now i feel thud thud sound from same spot due to loose racercone,which he adjusted and some what fine now....the difference between 2 different problem from racer cone is , in my first case one one side is loose so my friend find the bike pulling to one side, in second case the whole setup is loose so the bike feel bad in pathholes with thud thud sound.....
                              I hope i provide info as per my experience , guys in the thread correct if i am wrong.....
                              The same thud thud sound came also in my earlier pulsar after 3 or 4 adjustment i replace racer cone set , then yhe bike is fine.But don't confuse this with hydralic oil need to replace for ur front fork ....In that case ur bike bottom out in front side with thud sound....
