Yep, I have installed HID. Not much changes, you need to convert the headlight to DC, by cutting the wire going to RR and shorting it to the battery DC wire. The mech will know what to do, its a regular affair.
I have ridden quite a lot with HIDs on. No pull on battery, just that HIDs flicker sometimes, but I really didn't get any time to get them checked. The throw is AWSOME, with no light bulb holding even a candle! The night riding speed is automatically increased a bit
I would recommend HID conversation whole heartedly. Don't waste money on nightbreakers etc 800rs bulb. Save a bit more and go for HID, about 2000rs. I have a 4300k bulb.
The precautions I take: After evening, I don't use starter, I use the kick , because starter pulls a lot of current, which I would rather use for HID! Secondly, I am planning to convert the pilot lamps to LEDs. Third, go easy on the horn when you are on HID. Basically you will want to reduce the stress on battery when you put HID on. But the light throw itself makes it worth!

do you mean the wire coming from the coil to the rr unit needs to be cut. And what is 'shorting it to the battery DC wire'. Do you mean it should be connected to battery positive? hmm. Actually mine is a very small town and the mechs here have not seen a hid let alone fitting it. I have a request, whenever you visit your mech again, would you please ask him about the wires those needs to be cut. A pic would be super. RajOriginally posted by animeher View PostYep. But as I said, my mech did it, so don't take my word fully on it. Any mech who has installed HID previously can do it on this bike.

Tuned the carb to set to 4 rounds from leanest position, I have to wait for sometime to get the mileage figure as i have filled 10 ltrs of petrol which is the usual habit of mine. Meanwhile, some observation from my bike, whenever bike heats up, say for about 10 km, engine becomes very rough and needs lots of effort to pull, keep it for 1 hr to cool down, then engine back to normal for next 10 kms... is it b'cos my carb fuel screw set to 2 roud from leanest, does that heat up engine and reduces the efficiency? or is it the oil which is not capable of handling that much temp? can anyone plz help me in this regard...Last edited by sharshas; 08-05-2010, 07:58 PM.

Missed you Guyz.....
Hii Guys, back to the forum after a 10 day interval. It seems like the discussions are going in circles
. Nice to see some new owners. After ten day break when i tried to wake her, it felt as she dont want to wake up
, after 5-6 taps she woke up
. I think its not a good idea to leave the bike for longer intervals.
@ Sharshas
Your observation is very true, a lean mixture always heats the engine quickly and the oil looses viscosity which makes engine rough. I assume you are a new owner of GS, wait for some time this issue will fade away. Many of us have tried using semi-synthetics and has changed performance considerably.
Its just not the ram air which is cooling the engine, the fuel-air mixture also cools the engine so if the carb is set lean,Engine will heat up

If your dealer is not agreeing for replacement of RR unit to CA series just register a query in Suzuki's website, the dealer may even come to your home to discuss the matter

i may not be perfectly correct... RR unit is something to do with battery charging and power distribution...the earlier GS came with AA series RR unit..the headlight power was not enough...so they changed the RR unit to BA series in after nov 2009 models...now, the 2010 GS with new stickering comes with CA series...Originally posted by shrikky View Posthey guys whats this RR unit and CA series etc? something to do with lights? enlighten me please
The RR unit can be seen in the left side of the bike near the engine....just straight to where it is written 6 speed....
in some service center they will change your RR unit to new one if urs has AA series...in some cases you have to ask to change...in some other cases they won't agree to change..so you have to complain in suzuki website and ask for replacement...
now the guys who ve replaced it are saying that headlight power has increased...
i'm a new owner and i think a clear explanation could be given by experienced owners...M.Prem Sundar

hey guys, i got the bike delivered today
i got it from SMK guindy and i was surprised to see that they really dont have any thoughts about the FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE BEST IMPRESSION... i went to see the bike by 5:30 pm (they asked me to come today evening).
It was dusty (probably the ones they kept in stock)and the seat was damaged.... he said he will deliver it an hour .. i asked him to change seat he said ok... .i go back after a hour i see him cleverly put on the seat cover without changing seat
i started feeling really bad and i saw few scratches on the bike etc. but then later he said he will change the mudgaurd n tank by saturday
So this really killed my excitment, anyway m putting a pooja tomo and will start using it
if there are GS 150 R users in chennai near TNagar. please drop in ur number
thanks
Ill post the pictures tomorrow

Congrats Buddy !!!
@ Shrikky
Congrats Bro for your new ride

. Never mind how the appearance were, GS will definitely drive you crazy
. Do follow the proper break-in running methods
.
And the RR unit is Rectifier-Regulator unit. The electricity to power the bike is produced by an Alternator(mounted on crankshaft) which is AC. The RR unit converts the AC to DC, so that the generated power can be stored by battery. The rectifier converts the AC to fluctuating DC and the regulator makes the fluctuating DC to almost constant DC. The more flatter the DC the better
.
The very first RR unit on GS was AA series in which the headlight used to flicker in lower engine rpm, it was shortly replaced to BA series which had better lighting in lower rpm. Now the 2010 GS comes with CA series which is better than all its predecessors
.
@ Abdul Bhai
Try giving complaint to Suzuki and lets see how things turn out! Eagerly waiting for your post on how it performs after adjusting the clearance of valves.Last edited by Anupdas; 08-05-2010, 10:20 PM.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........
