i got it from SMK guindy and i was surprised to see that they really dont have any thoughts about the FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE BEST IMPRESSION... i went to see the bike by 5:30 pm (they asked me to come today evening).
It was dusty (probably the ones they kept in stock)and the seat was damaged.... he said he will deliver it an hour .. i asked him to change seat he said ok... .i go back after a hour i see him cleverly put on the seat cover without changing seat
i started feeling really bad and i saw few scratches on the bike etc. but then later he said he will change the mudgaurd n tank by saturday

So this really killed my excitment, anyway m putting a pooja tomo and will start using it if there are GS 150 R users in chennai near TNagar. please drop in ur number thanks

    Ill post the pictures tomorrow
Why did you took the delivery of the bike in first place brother ????
GS150R is a good bike but that doesn't mean you will take whatever the Coconut head from the showroom obliges to deliver. You should have taken,an absolutely new one,not one from the stock and too a test bike:from your definition it seems so.
When I took the delivery of my GS150R it was spanking new!!! believe me,the bike was manufactured on June 5th and I took delivery of the vehicle on 12th June .A Spanking new machine,I was killed with delight !!!
I rode it back home,60kms in the rains.........it was an awesome day.

Now the bike has, marks, paint scrape here and there, thanks to it being my bike of daily use and the narrow entrance of my house and also to the rainy season that keeps putting mud.But all it requires is just a wash to look showroom condition. It has been teflon coated from one of the leading teflon coaters in my city well-known for coating 4-wheelers.The teflon thing really works and seems to last 7-8months,whereas renewal is due in 6 months.

        • i'm not getting good fuel efficiency, its around 40kmpl. earlier it was 55 kmpl or more .. mostly in excellent four lane roads of greater noida.
but m scared to tune the carb manually ,, acc to my observation the rpm on the tacho is not accurate ,,the service centre guy used the pulse tachometer to correct the feul setting onthe carb for the jerk-king problem earlier ..that tacho was superb as the reading on his pulse tacho and my bike's tacho were different to 100 to 140 rpms ,",approx gs tacho reading" ..in pulse tacho the reading comes in digital display ..form
wat to do ? confused!! ..should go ahead by the method posted earlier by many of fellows gspians?? help !!

            @ Sharshas

Your observation is very true, a lean mixture always heats the engine quickly and the oil looses viscosity which makes engine rough. I assume you are a new owner of GS, wait for some time this issue will fade away. Many of us have tried using semi-synthetics and has changed performance considerably.

Its just not the ram air which is cooling the engine, the fuel-air mixture also cools the engine so if the carb is set lean,Engine will heat up.

If your dealer is not agreeing for replacement of RR unit to CA series just register a query in Suzuki's website, the dealer may even come to your home to discuss the matter.
Anupdas... i'm one of the few earlier members of this group and my GS is more than a year old and clocked almost 8k KMs... so there is no question of waiting any more . I registered complaints 3-4 times, but no response from Suzuki side for mileage... earlier i used to get 47-50 km, the moment i asked SC guys to tune it for better fuel effeciency, everything went bad... even i'm thinking of trying semi synthetic engine oil for next change.
Also, even I want to change my RR unit from AA to CA b'cos of bad focus of headlight, let me check with my dealer first on saturday.

            • hey guys ,
I woke up at 445. and i wanted to ride the bike !So i took the keys went out.. started the bike,
all i had to say was WOW. !. utter smoothness in the bike i kept riding around like 8kms totally.
@mach50. no its not a test drive vehicle as the odo showed only 32, when i bought it (they took it for reg etc) it was spanking new @ the delivery time. just that i went a hour earlier it wasn't ready, i just got frustrated last night and typed all those because i was so pissed at them forgetting to change the seat (or doing that wantedly) and i had to check n make them change again. Yes the odo showed 32.utter smooth engine what else i need
bike is totally smooth NO VIBES AT ALL m so glad..

I was riding on 6th gear with 40 kmph and the bike just swims around the road so cool !After i came back home i parked the vehicle i hear one tick sound 3 secs break and another tick sound.. is that normal? (this is my first bike, i am used to ride my friends bike all the times)

just 1 doubt about the gear shift. it becomes hard when i try to do wrong gear shifts. its hard some times its loose sometimes.. tell me how to check if gear box is right. im going to SC on saturday to get the tank and mudgaurd replaced as the SC saw us disheartened by a 2 cm scatch on them :P

Sorry for the earlier post, since you have done more than 8K, you can try semi-synthetic and on next oil change go for fully synthetic. Regarding the mileage, even I was not happy as the mileage kept on coming down. From your earlier post it seemed like a leaner mixture issue. Try tuning carb by yourself, I followed a trial and error method to find the optimum tuning. You can tell the difference just by the throttle response and engine's willingness to revv.

The clicking sound is due to the catalytic converter. The sound is caused by the contraction of the metal tubes inside converter on cooling. You should be more worried when you dont hear any.

It will take sometime for gearbox to settle just like engine. Proper gear shifting is the key in break-in running. Its not the speed, but the engine rpm that should be monitored. Shift gears when engine rpm reaches around 4.5K and dont use top gear to run in slow speeds. Always keep engine rpm between 3.5-4.5 K rpm. Avoid running in same engine rpm, vary it. Occasionally give short bursts of acceleration for the best coupling of the engine components.

After couple of oil changes you will be able to shift only using your toe . And also many people say the gearshifts are bad as they are not used to the gear shifter of GS, but there is a reason why its so.

Hey anupdas... no need to ask sorry dude... its ok. Will shift to full synthetic oil soon, possibly shell helix... lets see. I tuned carb my self, the bikes feels much better in throttle response now, lets see the actual mileage figures, will post once i get numbers.

To make it good change the oil filter while switching to full synthetic for the first time

shell helix is car oil. DO NOT use this for the bike.

for the GS u may use Shell Advance VSX 10W40 (semi synth) OR Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 (fully synth). both are good and meant for bikes.

                        regds

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.
