Ya, polishing or teflon coating will help but that fade would keep coming back when the coat wears off which may be 4 to 6 months..
If its the originally painted area, its possible that this happened when your bike was being repainted for those other scratches.. and it was hidden under the polish all this while..

        • Hey I feel like riding a new bike now........on the engine front.....!!!
          Ask why ??
My bike has developed a characteristic thumping note when the engine is in idle or even when it is being ridden, this is yet another amazing thing,My GSR really now feels like a big bike.It seems like it has become a cross of Enfield Machismo and HH Karizma.Very high pick up,which is absent on any other Indian air cooled 2V 150cc,high level of smoothness characteristic of Unicorn, thumping sound-like a mini bullet.High speed linear stability, superb maneuverability and cornering abilities due to subtly distributed mass at CG.The big bike feel and looks is just an addition.Instrument console from GSXR lineage is just an added bonus.
All these now makes me feel like I am riding a Streetfighter bike.I always feel like riding like a hooligan and a brawny person in the city and like a pro tourer on the highways.Everytime I get on this bike I feel like running down everything

The 4th photo is CA RR unit in 1300 RPM
all other three photos are taken using RPM between 1800 to 2500

the last photo is with CA RR unit exactly at 2000 RPM

Well, that thumping sound is exactly what i used to refer to as roughness.. its like a lighter note of what we feel on bullet while idling..

You seem to have brought a positive perspective to it by calling it thumping..

In any case, i have stopped worrying about this issue, it seems to have reduced a bit after changing to shell fast trac, and after riding a 2010 GS, which felt exactly same as my 09, i realized its common in all of them so even in my mind i've stopped focussing on the thumping.. Bike feels much smoother now.. Its kind of like in inception, it was just a bugging thought in my mind all this while

                  @Madhu:
I saw the pics and videos but couldn't make out any difference.
In the pics, it looks like you clicked photos with BA at a small angle with respect to the headlight, but in CA it was directly in front of it.. thats why CA seems to look brighter.

And for the videos it felt like BA video had brighter surrounding than CA.. so it looked little dim.

Can you only comment if there is any observable difference in brightness at idling 1300rpm and brightness beyond 2000rpm and when it reaches full brightness..

                  • diffrence btwn BA and CA RR - my version

SVC goy said battery power doesn't matters with the RR even its 9 Ah

With BA RR unit the brightness @ 2000 RPM = brightness of CA RR unit @ 1500 RPM

In CA RR bike headlamp gets almost full power at
                    2000 RPM

@ Falcon bhai I didn't prepared much for taking the post and pre modification was in a hurry sorry for that but the diffreence is there.

                    Apart from headlamp
Now I didn't faced self start problem even after 2 days halt which means my battery is getting gud power

                      Lol
                      You call that roughness ???!!!
its just this-thib-thib-thib-thib-which turns into a meaty snarl if revved, its nothing but the thumping sound,
Maybe you call it roughness because you might not have ridden an Enfield before you rode the GSR,but I rode an Enfield Electra for 7 hours and 78kms-2 weeks before I bought the GSR.But still I dint feel it initially, now that the engine has done the break-in,I feel this thump, and its damn sophisticated and blue blooded like a streetfighter muscle bike (only lower in decibels )

The only roughness one may find on a GSR is in a situation like this,
When the carburetor is not well tuned and is set really rich on the fuel front, which results in the throttle response getting rough and a throaty sound while deccelerating, rpms climbs down slower.
Today I took my bike to SVC for its first ever Service under the company, while taking delivery of the bike and riding it back home,I faced the roughness, really rough, engine or throttle body really stressed. On reaching home,I inspected the carb and found that those dumb guys have set the mixture to really rich !!! 7 turns in clockwise direction from lock position of the Fuel Screw !!!!! I then adjusted it to bring back my pristine ride. Its back to normal now.

The SVC on my insistence used The Motul 3000 4T,but they made a note on the back of the service coupon, that the engine oil has been supplied by the user ,they say its a fail safe in case any untoward things regarding the engine may crop during warranty.I then made it clear to them,to mention even the brand of the oil and the grade 20W-40 SAE JASO MA2,they wrote it down too.Now thats my failsafe, the company too recommends this grade without any brand names. So that makes us even.

GSR owners, there is a beautiful graph which mentions which oils to use on the motorcycle in the Engine Oil and Fuel recommendations section of the user manual.Going by it,the first oil of preference is 20W-40,which if absent or not available..........next is 15W-50 or15W-40...... anyone grinning or smiling after this with me???? 15W50 and 15W40 are synthetics,so enjoy, its also an oil of choice and can be used on our GSR.The temperature and viscosity indices neither varies much from 20W40 as illustrated by the Graph.

Now I am waiting for my ODO to register 5000kms......Motul 300V looks very tempting to me

                      • My Bike's Mileage

guys, it's been almost 4 days since i bought my bike...and i've ridden 420 kms so far...first day i filled for 300 rupees and my bike came to reserve day before yesterday...at that time odo was 145 kms...filled for 110 rupees...it's 1.99 ltrs almost...and she came back to reserve at 269 kms...i rode her at 50 - 55...with few short burst to 60,70....so the fuel efficiency is 62kmpl...

again i filled for exactly 2 ltrs (at diff petrol bunk)...again rode her at 50 - 55...giving short burst to 70, 3 times and to 60, 7 times... she returned 137.5 kms...so 68.5 kmpl ...if i didn't give short bursts she could've returned 70 kmpl...

so, our bike has the capability of giving 70 kmpl ....( but please note, all of my riding was in express way and state high ways...the 137.5 km ride was in state highway with many turns) ....

she was cool in the highways and things which are bothering me are engine heat (any way i hope it will go off when she grows up)...and head light...i used to ride glamour before GS and when i give flash from glamour,
the opposite coming vehicle will change to dipper..but when i do the same from GS, no one is bothering

I think that your, carb has been tuned to leaner mixtures,it would be good to know that how your bike accelerates to 60kmph or to 100kmph,I think if you are getting that much of mileage, from your bike you must either be riding very gently without much use of clutch on really empty and gem-like roads or your A-F mixture is very lean.Let me get you the real picture, the best I salvaged on the GSR is a 63kmpl.It returns an average of 55kmpl,under rash riding in the city or doing around 110kmph constantly on Highways. But my bike is one of the fastest bikes out there in the streets.Though most of the times it returns 58kmpl in the city, unless it goes flatout on the highways.

GSR is really fuel efficient being a 150cc,but lets not expect some 125cc FE from a powerful 150cc bike,if we get so,then something is not normal with the bike, its either tuned for efficiency or is being run very slowly and not freely.

About the light thing,I really feel that GSRs stock lamp which is a Halonix is weak,go for an equally rated Osram Nightbreaker or a Philips, see the difference.I went for Halonix White, and the oncoming vehicles slows down if I ever flash, leave alone going for dippers ,now to spruce up matters a bit more,I am contemplating 4300K megawhite BiXenon HIDs,lets drive others crazy

I'm getting mileage as low as 34-35kmpl in my GS and rough engine, and got serviced many time @ Apple Suzuki in Bangalore, but no help. Can anyone suggest me a good SC in Bangalore to get my bike to the previous glory?
