take care bro. 75 is too much for nitrogen and dont think that u can avoid filling up. even nitrogen needs regular filling like normal air. but yeah it can go one or two weeks more.Originally posted by adi231189 View Post
no... semi synthetic is good... but i will not recommend 15w50. its thick. 15w40 is ok. but not 50. if you need get thro some frnds in chennai.Originally posted by Sreejith_150R View Post

take care... you wont believe.. i inspected the attachement fitted to handle bar ( is it balancer something to prevent vibration ?) the impact point is not even 1 cm... it is almost appeared as dot... but it made my handle bar twist. if i dint pull off... im historyOriginally posted by basumataryraj View PostMy god should I call it some kind of bizzare coincidence. Even I have met with an accident today. 2 Rajs had an accident. Mine was minor. I was driving on a very muddy road. The bike slipped and it started falling towards the right side. I was moving very slowly around 20km at 2nd gear. I managed to prevent the bike from falling somehow. Therefore, no scratch on the bike or me. I got lucky and thank god for that. Raj
have to extra cautious here after. this road is worst full of traffic and lots of bus.Rides: HH SPl (2000-2005) | TVS Vic GLX (2005-2010) | S GS150 R (Current)

I have GS150R, till now 9.8k km covered. i am planning to change to synthetic oil after my fifth service. I were searching for MOTUL engine oil in all shopes( coimbatore) . Finally ended up in one place where they have only 15w50 rating oil is available now. ( 5100 15w50 4T and 3000 4T Plus 15w50) . I think 5100 is semi-synthetic . Is it desirable to use the 15w50 rating oil in GS150r ? Since the company rating is 20w40...
Can anyone comment on their experience after using the 15w50 rating oil, if any.
It should be in the following way:-
10W - 40 or 15W - 40 or 20W - 40 is fine; don't opt for oil where the second value is diffrent - I mean it should be 40 not 30 or 50.
Motul is not the only option it is the best but you can try Gulf, Elf
, shell or Agip they are also good
Or any mineral based oil
its not mandatory to switch to synthetic after reaching 10000Kms
Please refer previous 25 pages
And refer the engine oils thread for further detailsSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Thank God everybody are Safe. It seems a bit strange that GS is so prone to Accidents. But i'm sure it's just a Coincidence or a Passing Phase. Fortunately, i have not had any Bad Experiences like these in my 1 Year of Ownership. Touchwood !!!
Can you Guys tell me if there is any way to remove Fuel from the Petrol Tank ?
I did a Full Tank some Days ago and as the GS Tank is so Huge, Petrol just doesnt seem to lessen down. I've done about 200 Kms and it's still showing all 5 Bars.
The Reason i want to Remove Fuel is because my Servcing Date is due in about 2 Weeks.
And, i dont ride my GS a lot these Days because of the Heavy Rains. I take my Car to Office.
In my Old Ambition Bike, the Pipe that would connect to the Fuel Knob would be Visible. So, i would easily be able to remove the Pipe and take out Petrol. Can't seem to do that in GS?
Any Ideas?Last edited by abhi_gsr; 06-17-2010, 11:46 AM.

GSR is one of the safest bikes to ride around.........we need to ride it more cautiously.Nowadays trust me,no one on the roads can be trusted.People, they move on roads like as if they own the road and its our responsibility to keep them safe........Absurd !!!!
Every kind of road users like Bikers,Office goers, pedestrians, cars, buses, trucks, autos, taxis,an imals........cycles,list doesnt seem to end !!!!They go more jerish on seeing something like GSR or FZ on road....so its better to brake at any moment some one senses something wrong. No need pushing our luck.Lord provides for the rest........its in his hands. Odo meter can't be reset, it either goes on or can be stopped by removing some wire in the engine.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostPeople please help me with few things...............

3.what is the function of TripA 0.0km and TripB 0.0km ????
Trip meter A & B can be used for calculating mileage/distance covered in a particular trip. You can select Odo, trip A & trip B by presing SEL once, and you can reset trip A & trip B by presing and holding ADJ.

Trip Meter B can be set to see the total mileage eg after filling up fuel till next refill etc.
Trip Meter A can be set to see the distance travelled on a particular trip from point X - to point Z for instance.

Chennai Traffic
@ all chennai guys here...
Hello... There are somethings i noted about chennai traffic which was useful to me and thought might be helpful to you people also...
1. Make yourself safe on road. Safety priority for you should be higher than that of the bike.
2. Have 200% concentration when an MTC bus is around you (50meters radius).... I stress on radius since you do not know where they come from and where they go..
..
3. Beware of autos (includes Share Autos, Maxi Cab vans that do illegal passenger ferrying, Tata Ace kind of vans..)
4. Have some knowledge about the bus stops on the roads that you frequent.. that'll help you when you over take a bus, auto... Mostly when you over take from the left(which is not right and predominantly every tom, dick and harry does it here i chennai

)
5. DO NOT FORGET THAT YOU HAVE LOVED ONES AT HOME ALL THE TIME YOU ARE ON ROAD (Mostly parents)...
6. Believe in prayers.. Really God helps in safe journey...
I wanted to say this since most people who report accidents are from chennai.... This may or may not be applicable to other cities... You can always correct me on the above if I'm wrong somewhere...

Okk Adding to whatever some people have said never ever drive behind a bus since it blocks the view in front since i faced the similar situation which led to my small accident learned my lesson.Anticipation is the best way nowdays to keep yourself safe. Drive Safe Guys.
And guys i asked about the knocking issue when the engine is hot i told in 1st service but looks like nothing has been done about it. Any ideas?Last edited by adi231189; 06-17-2010, 06:43 PM.

I really had a scary issue with my new ride today
!!!
It happened all in the middle of traffic, that I heard a terrible noise,as if side stand is scrapping the road, and then suddenly a huge raucous from the chain region as if the chain is cut and dangling and hanging.I really got scared and immediately reduced the speed at which it was moving and came to the side of the road.I found side stand and main stand in place.Stood the bike on main stand, inspected the chain, chain was all ok !!!!! Then where is the loud sound coming from???
My head seemed not to be working,I got it of stand and rode at 20-30kmph to the service center...........what can possibly be wrong with the new bike that it had too make such a huge noise constantly to make even dogs go barking at me
On reaching the SVC even the Suzuki guys were looking at me in awe.....they heard me from a kilometre away!!!!!They quickly took the bike to their work station and disassembled the total chain housing. On inspection it was found that, the front part of the lower chain cover had bent and turned into the moving chain.......the friction between them caused such huge noise !!!!!! They immediately hammered the chain cover, centred it properly again and did the refit. The bike is practically noiseless after that, except the cool sound of the engine.
I was so shocked at the plight of this new bike that,I kept asking what could be the possible reason for such,or if it has damaged the chain???
The SVC guys told me,while fitting the new bike, someone among them must have put it together in hurry without properly centering, which caused the cover to bent inside. They then assured me,it wont happen ever again. They told me,its ok with the chain.
This incident today left me really shocked !!!!!!
Ok guys since I got the answer of TripA and TripB.......now please tell me:exactly where lies the speedo wiring of bike ???? (cant ask this to SVC guys since they think I would messing with my ride
)

@ GSR owners......tonight I finally managed to open and get my hands on the speedo wiring console on the sprocket.Opening is easy but connecting and disconnecting the device,is what I failed to comprehend.Presently my ODO and speedo both are disconnected, till registration and numbering but I am finding ways to make the speedo work atleast !!!
Heres some pics:

The unit covering the front sprocket opened up, the sensor taken off.

The way the sensor looks on the side of the sprocket.......dindnt make anything out of it
It looked like as if some type of cap is preventing the sensor from getting in touch with the sprocket. This cap is tightened by a strange looking screw.......didn't have the tool to unscrew this screw,it will require T wrench with screw like head.

The way the sensor is placed on the sprocket.
Opening the sprocket cover required the unscrewing of two screws, one on the sprocket covering itself, another below the unit near the gear shift lever as shown by Blitz. But its really difficult to unscrew and fix these parts without a T wrench.Normal wrenches require a lot of hard work and carefulness.
Hoping to buy a set of T wrenches soon.
Meanwhile please suggest, how to make this sensor connect to the Front sprocket......If anyone has first hand experience of it.Hell's Angel
