came back to mumbai n gave it to SVC handle could be straightened and front fork could be centered in a lathe (this was given outside SVC as labour job) since a new fork pin was 2750/-
total cost i incurred was of 750 only (labour Charges for centering) and an additional 300/- was given to the SC mech who looks after my bike

The point of the whole narration is... i have driven my GS in worse or rather i would put it in Torrential rains in Mumbai (mumbaikars must be knowing how the rains were this monsoon) n never ever i have felt loosing grip on both ends even during heavy braking at times.... but this specific incident when i had my fall it really baffled me, i even checked the road after i got up to see if any oil was there or did my GS aquaplaned on a stream of flowing water, but i couldn't conclude anything....

    @manubhat
the tankpad cost me 1100/- here is the link

even the same thing happened with me.... but luckily i escaped with only few scratches on my left leg and the bikes visor lens left indicator lens ....
nthng more and wat is that "fork pin bent" r u talking about the front fork shud i go and ask svc whether is there any prob with my bikes fork and previously when i asked the mech he was saying that the race bearing kit should be opened and the ball bearings shud be replaced....
I can put any Signatures :P

i dont know the exact technical name of that part, the SVC mech called it "kaichi" (scissors in english) u might be able to identify it, its the assembly which connects both the front forks and a perpendicular part which goes inside the front of the chassis steering ( where race bearing kit is installed) tube of the bike frame... in my case it was bent a little, they gave it for centering to a lathe workshop.... before centering the bike was pulling to the left if driven in straight line...

Today came to know from suzuki mech/technician that the new gs is better than the old one.its lighter, fresher(graphics) and pick up wise is better.the engine he says is silent. All this improvement is good to hear, but we have to experiance it to feel it,so please gyz do mail down your thought/riding son new gs.

Sad to see that the new gs cannot be watched in Grey color, which according to me is gentlemen's color.so all the grey gs are now classic antiques.(including mine)
The new gs150r has new side panels, new front cowl, new stickering, and slightly modified taillamp.

Also, wheelbase reduced from 1440 mm to 1335 mm, and width increased from 775 mm to 785 mm.

The suzuki website does not mention any changes regarding weight. Are any new brochures/specifications of the new g150r available at showrooms ?

Yes, the gray color was really cool and rare. Wonder why they stopped it.

Once I got up and picked up my bike, I looked around to see how it could have happened and saw a very small stream of water flowing down the road, but saw nothing else that I could connect the dots to, like sand or oil. Ive ridden on worse patches of water and not skidded. My tires are good. I was neither accelerating, nor braking hard. I wasnt downshifting either. I was doing a constant speed in 6th gear. Its a real mystery how this happened.

Anyone else experienced something like this or similar to this?

And coincidentally, I had my first accident on this bike at nearly the same time last year. Hows that for a "shakuna" ?
Downward slope, curve, running water, and speed of 60 kmph ..... thats enough for a crash i guess. Also, maybe, riding in stagnant water and flowing water is not the same.

The good thing is you are safe.

The race bearing is usually greased in every 10-12k kms. Get it done and at the same time replace the necessary faulty parts if there are any.

            • @ all: I had my bike assessed at the SC today. The damages are around Rs. 2100 minus labour.

              fork bend removal = 750
handle bar = 500....................Is this right?
              shifter = 350
stock crash guard = 450..........Im not going with this. Im looking for a better one; so still waiting for suggestions from you all, if any.

Looks like I'll be claiming insurance.
              ----------

@nads: that part is called a t-bar or a h-bar. I got quoted the same amount for setting my fork right. A new one supposedly costs some 1800 bucks and the entire fork assembly costs in excess of Rs. 10000, Im told.

Does your bike handle the same now, as it did before the accident?
              ----------

@antonysg: Well, the slope was a gentle one and the curve radius was large enough for me to be comfortable with such speeds. Ive ridden a lot in watery conditions at different speeds, including knee high flowing water and have never experienced anything like this. Hence the post-mortem.

But I suppose youre right...the combination of the conditions is like the 9 planets aligning. Well, let everyone beware of it.

yeah my bike handles normally as bfore even i was skeptical of giving such a crucial part for centering but my SVC mech reassured me that there wont be any problem... the best way to check this is after u have got ur bike rectified, is ride on a straight smooth road n take ur hands off the handlebars n see if the bike is still going straight, if not the front end is still not aligned properly n u will get uneven tire wear and the bike will behave strangely under heavy braking and the bike will tend to pull to one side...

another thing i would like to point is that in my case the fork was not bent (since my bike fell on the left side n did not have a head on impact from front) n since u have also had a similar type of crash... complete weight of the bike comes on the front handle bar which in turn transfers the weight onto the frame of our bike, which results in a bending of the T Bar or H Bar... so pls confirm with the SVC that what they r gonna straighten or else they will charge more...

                  • Hi Gspians's, Good to see many new owners here My GS clocked 9k KMS in 15 months now.

Recently my rear wheel acting weird, i experience very slight zig zag movement of rear tyre. This happens for very frequently .Tyre pressure is correct and not loosing any air. This started when i was returning from a trip when suddnely there was a feeling like tyre puncture but when i parked on side and checked it was fine. from then the problem is still there. I have told this issue during last service but no use.

Can this be becoz of completely flatened tyre at the middle.??? I have also changed tube to karizma size tube recently.

                      there are 2 possibilities,
                      1. it can be due to improper fitting of tyre.
                      2. it can be due to wear out of rear wheel bearing.

ask svc or local mechanic to check it.

                      • Today I got my new white GS150R. It is looking very good in sunlight. The engine sound is slightly different than the previous model. It appeared to me a mini bullet (sound wise). Total distance I covered today is 70 km and I drove 30 km. It was a very good experience.

Congrats buddy... I too bought it recently.. on 6th Oct... mine also sound like mini bullet..

I think then there is not much difference in engine... as I think this engine change have been brought into the market gradually.

The other things including the engine specifications, wheel base, height, weight etc remains the same. The increase in the overall width is due to the modified handle bar weight.

Anyway, I am sure that GS is the most trouble free 150 cc bike which gives the best fuel efficiency here.

Check the following one by one:
                            1. Wheel balancing/alignment.
                            2. Seating of the tyre on rim.
                            3. The tire itself may be faulty.
                            4. Bend/misalignment of fork.
                            5. Alignment of cone set.
