  • People I finally got my GSR !!!!!!!

I cant believe that I really now own this bike !!!!!!! Its a Superbike !!!! what a snarl it does at high revs.......sounds like Ninja250R !!!!And looks soooooooooo beautiful..........Its a unique Deep blue and black 3 quarters combination. So smooth,so powerful...........I have ridden GSXR and I can assure its totally the same feeling. Its just wonderful.I sit inside the bike not on it Cant feel its weight at all !!!!! I am only 5ft 5inch......its torque and handling is simply superb.I drove this new bike on its new tyres on a heavily raining and traffic clogged 30kms to home and that too in evening from showroom, total city,no highway. If this is that good in the city, wonder what it would do on highways !!!!!!

    Few niggles are though are.
1.Gear shift is hard but precise.......I hope it will get ok with service.
2.My modes arent changing-its in ECO mode.....which switch changes the mode ???
3.the tail light keeps glowing the moment the ignition is turned on.........is this its nature ???

Here are its first ever pics (bit shoddy being indoors and at home, shot from my mobile camera, under tubelight )

.............one of the best reflector that a stock bike can have.........its one of a kind Lighting !!!!!!

I will clean the chain tomorrow. Is it ok to use kerosene to clean the chain. The mechanic said I can use petrol, but I am not sure. What do you guys say? I was also using power 1 (semi-synthetic) before this oil change. It was good maybe for 1700 kms and later gears became hard. Now I am thinking this happened maybe because the chain was dirty. My next service is due in 15days. I would change the oil filter and oil again then. My bike has clocked 6250kms till now. I think I would stick to semi-synthetic from now on. Raj
Hi can you tell me how can we clean the chain on our own. Is their any DIY guide.

@Macho congrats on buying GSR. Enjoy your ride.

              • Thank you all for the heartfelt compliments showered my way for my new ride.........
and thanks to them too who are yet to wish

Today morning the tail light issue got solve.Actually I am new to a bike with parking lights too....so dint notice the third position for completely turning off the light,I today turned it off completely.Tail light off

I am yet to test the mode switching method suggested by Anupdas........I hope it will work too.But what is the other switch by the side of SEL??? it doesnt seem to work The one switch on leftside on the console--switches between ODO and TripA and TripB,the other doesnt make any difference.

As per pics in daylight, its raining very heavily here, bike gets dirty on being taken out....would get good pics in broad daylight as soon I get the right situation

You will find two buttons in console. (from left to right) take it as button 1 and button 2. if you press button one it will change the in to the following in cycle . ODO -TRIP A - TRIP B

If you press button 2 simply it wont work... but if you press for button 2 for 5 secs it will display only some info.. then pressing button 2 will take in following modes in cycle eco-power-god mode

then press button 1 to select it.
P.s you have to do it when speed is 0kmph. i mean you cant change mode while riding on it.

bro do mind the break in period. better be in eco for atleast frst 800 kms then try power that to vary the speed till 1600 kms. then you can even use god mode. like i do.... but mode changes wont make any diff in power . just the indication to change the gear. thats it

I do have in Mind this boring break in period...........but problem is that in my Heart I have this undying trust and confidence of uber strong Suzuki engines. So torn between mind and heart.

I think I cant agree with you over the fact that PWR and ECO are only for guiding the rider,It also changes the engine mapping too...........PWR mode activates the TPFC like system that made CBZs of lore so fast........maybe this mode is where engine runs faster at all rpms,so increased usage of fuel as well as wastage of it too.......Power peaks throughout rev range. The rpm indicator is just a bonus for winning a drag in this mode.Nothing to tell about the ECO mode.......goody goody bike it is then....everyday office hours are for this mode
Engine really snarls in power mode, no torque lag too.

But I think my question this time is about the Final drive ratio.........what kind of sprocket set up the GSR uses ??? Front/Rear ???

This post by Sivakumar explaining Power and Eco mode will be informative

If you want to know the primary, secondary and final reduction ratio refer the users manual. It have detailed explanation about those.

                            Ride safe.........

                              • Would be Owner

                                hi al GS150 R owners,

I am planning to buy this one. I had 3 vehicles shortlisted GS150 R , Unicorn and Gladiator.

I dropped Gladiator, Since i lost faith in Yamaha, seems that they have dropped the name gladiator itself in the new version of the vehicle and when i visited their show rooms , 1 showroom they were promoting FZ series alone, they didnt have a gladiator at all . they showed me a vehicle which came for servicing ! my dad is a yamha buff , he suggested Libero G5 , show room fellow told me that Libero is stopped. so i was little apprehensive of taking gladiator

then i concentrated on Unicorn but the vehicle is not available at all it will take 3 , 4 months
then i had a chance of seeing GS150 R in the web like Xbhp and then followed your posts
It seems that it is a decent vehicle but with hiccups
                                1. There seems to be a rusting issue . I live in chennai , a coastal city even though i am not near the beach . but stil there is a lot of humidity here and defenitely there is a sea breeze over the city iam 15 kms away frm the beach
                                2. Mileage -- it is a vital issue
                                3. Riding comfort in heavy chennai city traffic

Just give me idea on these 3 issues . Bcos vehicle costs 70k in chennai and it is a huge investment rather life time investment

I currently own a HH passion a decent vehicle and my father has the old warhorse Yamaha rx 100 of 1985

I just have little lack of confidence in going for this vehicle
