battery head lite mod
here is link http://lh6.ggpht.com/_7_1CCrHMQtc/TA.../s640/scan.jpg
I will be doing in this week. I checked with one pilot lamp installed.
Regarding battery draining issue I did amp rating check with 55Watt bulb installed that current flow from battery is -3.84 Amp, this means that battery is draining out but this is the position on idal RPM (1200).
So when we goes to 3000-4000RPM Current is in somewhat +1.5 Amp order so battery is charging no need to worry about .
Mind that my bike has installed AA series capacitor .
Hope BA and CA series capacitor increase rate of charging.
I will post more image when i have done this.
Thanks all

Mr Go Green aka Gaurav Lal is a Manager at Michelin India. He will recommend you the Michelin M45 or Sirac, both of which are Tube Type.Originally posted by mathewsyriac View PostWow!!
Thanks 4 the thread link.
Will ask Mr Go Green
Sirac is 120/80, so fitting it might require some Modifications but man, that Tyre looks Macho...
I went with the M45 and M62 after deep conversations with Mr. Gaurav as it is of the Stock Size and am pretty happy with it.
Gaurav is a very Helpful Guy and will guide you in the right direction.

... How will you rate M45 and Sirac ? What modifications needs to be done in GS for Sirac ? Will it void the warranty if done so ? I see specifications like "110/80 R 18,
120/80 T 18" What does these mean exaclty ? I got some info from the following website...

Nope. The M45 is a Tube Type Tyre. M45 is more for City Use and Sirac is a dual purpose Tyre, i.e. City Ride as well as for Off-roading. I have heard that Mileage will definately reduce with the Sirac and Acceleration and Top-end will also suffer a bit. I am not sure about the Modifications for the Sirac but i think we might have to tamper with the Chain Cover as Sirac is a thick Tyre and it might not fit in the space available. I don't think it should void the Warranty. You can check this Michelin Link for how to read a Tyre Size and the meaning of those Symbols. I think Bunny Punia fit the 120/80 Sirac to the GS when he toured the Himalayas. I think the details are in the Bike India April 2010 Issue.Originally posted by animeher View PostCan 120/80 tyre be fitted to GS? Has anyone done it here?

please take the readings after you make the changes ie. connect the headlight to the battery. If the battery does not discharge as I feared it would, our headlight woes will be over. Also could you please post pics while doing the job? Step by step pics would really help many (me included) who has apprehensions about doing the job due to lack of knowledge or experience. Thanks. Hello there
,
My transition from my Zeus to GSR has been initiated.I will get the GSR on Thursday........
,most probably the black machine
Just a few things of enquiry,
1.Anyone tested its top end ???.........what is its real top speed, and to what extent can it reach given the road ???
2.Since its a high revving engine(max power at 8500 rpm like Shogun),what is the point at which it hits rev limiter ????
3.How powerful are its head lights.....??? does it have pilot lights(the small ones by the side of the head lamp) too ???
4.Braking......I heard it has a soft bite but very effective one, makes the stop faster than most bike even with that weight and momentum.........is it true??? if it is so,then its for me,otherwise I have to look for ABS for my ride.
5.What grade of mobil oil does it use ??? Synthetics are okay ???Last edited by MACH50; 06-08-2010, 12:57 AM.Hell's Angel

The speedo/ODO sensor is in the primary/front sprocket. Check the pics. Three screws marked to be removed and the sensor will be visibe. Just pull it out and the ODO will stop.Originally posted by rajesh1136 View Postguys... you know what to do to stop the odo ? old bike i will simply remove the cable... disadvantage of digital... cos im gonna reach 5500... but i need some more weeks to give it for service.. suggestions welcome
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

I have clocked 113
, hopefully it will do a 120 if revved till the red line.
2.Since its a high revving engine(max power at 8500 rpm like Shogun),what is the point at which it hits rev limiter ????
The red line starts from 10K
.

GS's headlight are just average 35W halogens. It do have two 5W pilot lamps.
4.Braking......I heard it has a soft bite but very effective one, makes the stop faster than most bike even with that weight and momentum.........is it true??? if it is so,then its for me,otherwise I have to look for ABS for my ride.
Its very true about the soft bite
, but cant say for sure if it stops faster than others. The bike is well balanced and even under panic breaking, it will follow a straight path
.
5.What grade of mobil oil does it use ??? Synthetics are okay ???
Very few have mentioned about synthetics. I think so far only BLITZ have mentioned full synthetic one
. But no one have mentioned about Mobil so far
Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

You need to unscrew only lower two screws. You can remove the sensor, but i think the best way is to remove a nut & bolt fixed on the primary sprocket. I think the sensor is a type of Hall Effect Sensor, it finds the rpm by counting the rpm of that nut. So if you can remove that nut, speed sensor cant sense rpm and ODO will be dead.Originally posted by BLITZ View PostThe speedo/ODO sensor is in the primary/front sprocket. Check the pics. great to hear that the charging rate is good even after connecting a 55watt bulb. Looking forward for the pics. Also do you know how much current the generator of our bike produces? Thanks.
