  • Hi guru...
Motul 3100 4t is a 15W50 grade.... is it Ok for GS ? has anyone tried this oil..?? ... I see that motul 3000 4t has both 20W40 and 20W50 grades...

Guys, Check this link for JASO oil standards..

Still I'm confused about Shell advanved 20W40 and Motul 20W40....

@ basumataryraj - I heard that Michelin M45 is good on wet surfaces.... You can contact Vishal on this... If you can try searching the earlier pages, there was an update on the tyres...

The stock crash guard of GS does its job perfectly.. I am saying this out of my 2 accident experiences

It saved my left leg twice.. A crash guard is for your protection and not for looks

          Thanks mate.

I will be buying my GS during February, if possible will change the crash guard on the day of purchase itself.

No , its not for the looks that we are planning to change it, its because I don't think the stock crash guard will minimize the scratches on visor, indicator, handle bar and petrol tank in case of a crash.

I think you must have some good reflexes . A stock setting is considered to be the best but in this case Im going for some added security. I love my ride and dont want to see scratches on her . Now that i dont have money to buy riding gear this is the least i could do...

That will be a good thing to do. But they wont be giving a reduction in price since the crash guard is the stock setting. Before your purchase i will let you know which one suits it. Last day i noticed that leg rest for the pillion is of bad quality, the rubber will tear apart pretty soon.

Anyway if you do not want to go for FS or SS oil yet...you can go for the MOTUL 3100 4T PLUS....it is a mineral oil and is the best one in mienral oil category....
MOTUL oils are well known worldwide for performance....
It costs about 190Rs/ltr. And is really a VFM product....You can get it from Cherry agencies in Minerva circle in bangalore. They are authorised dealers for MOTUL.
They even have stock of FS and SS oils of Motul....
lol. everyone keeps asking me that question..
I ride about 500km a month(to college), and had exams in december too, so i've not got any chance to go for long rides etc.

Anyway, thanks for the info. i pass by minerva while going to college, i'll try and get the oil in feb when its time to change.

                  • Semi synthetic seems to make a lot of sense for a bike like GS. Fully synthetic is optimized for high revving AFAIK. Is the stock oil Veedol? I guess the HH guys near ABT nandanam use Ide Mitsu as stock.

WRT the crash guard, I heavily doubt if stock guard can help mainly because I saw a GS at the svc recently which had taken a very bad beating on the tanks and the shifter. the handle bar was also bent. The crash guard hardly had any scratches on it. The stock ones are the ones used in the Zeus.

I'll change it prbly after 2nd service.

I've booked and finalized on the black version today. Will be able to get the Vehicle on hand by wednesday. My hands are itching now..

                    • Some doubt regarding rattling/vibration sound after 250 KM

                      Hi,

I have completed 250 Km run on GS150R.
Have found some problem like rattling/vibration sound

                      1. When I run in 4th gear at a speed of 35-40 KMPH only , some vibration sound is coming. It's like a ghost brake is applied . The sound is coming from the engine followed by vibration in foot rest and handle.

                      2. The same occurs when riding in 5th gear at a speed of 41-46 KMPH and when riding in 3rd gear at a speed of 26-30 KMPH

Guys I am very much worried, as this vibration/rattling sound from engine was not there when the bike was delivered from the showroom.

Today I showed the bike in SVC, the SVC guy did some settings to the clutch and chain, after that the problem increased further. They are telling me this problem can be verified in 1st servicing time.

Anybody faced same problem with their new bike..? Any comment on this problem..?

Also I would like to know about the rear suspension settings. The factory setting is at number three. Can I set it to number one for smooth suspention or continue with the default 3 (three). The SVC guy's are telling the suspension setting is only for height adjustment, not for smoothness/stiffness.

Hi Seklax, i noticed some rattling sound and vibration around 3500 rpm.You only mentioned the speed please note the rpm over which it exhibits vibration. If its around 3500 rpm don't worry just rev over it in lower gear past it and the sound will be gone. Its engine's resonance rpm and every engine is said to have a resonance rpm. Mine has completed 850 km by now and today i went for a trip of around 150 k. Initially the bike was feeling ok but after some a half hour driving engine developed some king of rattling sound very fine though mainly when downshift after braking. I was kind of worried over it. Then i reached my destination and after two hour engine was back to normal. I think the sounds are mostly because its through its running in phase. This engine may have a longer running in than other bikes like honda and pulsar.

About suspension setting, those who are riding the bike in higher speeds tend to adjust it towards the stiffer side for better control. If you are riding in good roads stiff setting will be good and if you are riding in lower speeds at typical indian roads go for softer setting it will give pillion much comfortable ride. Currently i have adjusted it to level 2 since i always ride my mom as pillion.

                            THANXXX BRO....
I had registered my GS on Dec 24th but was told by the dealer that the RC book will be arriving by one months time. I was waiting for confirming my reg. no. Using this link I could confirm my no.
                            Big Thanxx

By the way I havd noticed that some times while cruising @ constant speeds (~60-70 kmph) there is a feeling that the fuel level has gone below the reserve level and the bike is going to stall. But it occurs for a moment only and the bike then regains the momentum.
                            Have anyone else experienced it???

Also, I rode a friend's Unicorn and I think the engine is smoother than my GS on revving.
But it feels really small after being used to my baby's gigantic fuel tank

Hii bro, i felt that some times and i asked the same in this thread. But unfortunately no one replied. I think its all becoz of running in period. My bike is 3 week old and clocked 850 on ODO. By the way did you hear any small rattling sound from then engine, it becomes prominent after a 15 mins ride? I rode unicorn of my friend to verify about the amazing handling of it. Just as you said it feels so small and light. On comfort level GS is best for long rides.

Regarding the smoothness of the bike, i think the person who can comment are the ones who must have rode the bike for atleast 3-4k.

Does anyone's bike give any sound when it is on 2nd gear and accelerated from 2k to 4k rpm slowly.
