Re: Suzuki GS150R
Guys.. I am on market searching for used GS150. I eventually came across one 2010 model black colored for 21K with 68000 Kms clocked on its ODO. My friend had gone for inspecting it this morning. As per him, the bike is aesthetically good. But, he felt some kind of tappet noise from engine during idling. Do you guys think that this tappet noise is normal? Also, the tyres might last for another 3000 Kms. What else should i check? I am planning to check the bike this evening.

1.did u find the bike from olx or through some dealer in bells road???
2. pls don't mind spending 5k to 10k and get a bike which has run lesser no. of kms.. i am not saying that the 68k run bike would give problems, but just the fact that the bike which has run lesser would be newer in all aspects..
3. check the service book.. just to know about the service records at the initial stages of the bike which is critical.
4. have a test ride and am sure u ll be amazed by the smoothness of the bike.. just a general service and some parts to be checked and replaced after u get the bike.. u would be vrooming the streets... believe me GS is an awesome machine..
According to me, taking the bike for a ride is enough for checking, you ll not be getting any extra noises, if u get too, that can be adjusted so don't worry.. All the best for your deal.. do post the pics of the bike when u go and see it in the evening..Biking is in my Blood!!

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Adjusting valve clearance would get rid of the tappet noise in most cases. But since the bike has run 68K kms, it is better to consult a mechanic to see if there are no other major problems. After all you might not know how the previous owner treated the bike. If the bike has been taken care well, then I believe it would not give you any major engine issues in the near future. You can see that a few xbhpians have crossed 60K kms without any major hiccups and one xbhpian crossed 1lakh km mark in his GSOriginally posted by monisab2003 View PostGuys.. Re: Suzuki GS150R
Hello guys,
I am a recent Honda CB Trigger owner, still posting in this thread because CB Trigger thread has almost no active members.
Thus wanted to have your views on one query regarding 'Run in' period, which is common for all bikes.
I have done around 330 km as off now and I have read somewhere that the engine oil should be changed at around this time and postponing the first servicing to 600-650km.
Do you recommend this ?? Will this at all help in better run in??
I found this quite logical as this will remove any metal parts scrapped off during first few kilometers.
Please advice

Re: Suzuki GS150R
To find proper run in period of your bike you should refer owners manual of CB Trigger.
In the case of gs 150 r first service comes at Initial 1000 Km /30 days, which ever comes earlier. There is also RPM limitations during this time.
You don't have to do additional oil changes other than specified in the maintenance schedule given in the owners manual. The metal particles that may have formed due to wear and tear will be accumulated in the Oil filter/Strainer. It won't re-circulate. So you don't need to worry about that.
There is a small run-in period for the tires also.Last edited by dip097; 04-09-2014, 09:53 PM.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
I read somewhere that Honda engines require the least run-in in terms of kilometers. The Dazzler's manual was simple with respect to running-in - it simply said something like "Pay extra attention for first 500 kms. Avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration." Apart from that follow the usual things like varying the engine speed constantly and don't lug engine. As Dip097 said, strainer will take care of those shredded metals.Originally posted by SurajD View PostI am a recent Honda CB Trigger owner, still posting in this thread because CB Trigger thread has almost no active members.

Suzuki and Yamaha specify RPM limitations usually while Bajaj and RE specify maximum speeds at each gear during running-in. Do what Honda says, no harm in replacing the oil for the first time at 750 (30 days) kms, if that is the recommended max interval. First oil change for my GS was at 958, 42 kms short of the recommended max.
In future, if you still find the Trigger's thread unresponsive, don't worry - The Dazzler, CBZ, Unicorn and Hunk all share the same heart ! You can always post anything specific to your engine there and expect a reply.

It might give you some satisfaction that you have taken care of your bike but personally I don't feel the need for changing the engine oil with just 330kms on the ODO. Usually, most of the bike manufacturers recommend oil change only during first service and not before that. Check the user manual of Trigger for the service schedule. The service guys usually change the oil and oil filter during the first service. You can ride your bike without any worries. During run-in, just make sure you don't exceed 4-5K RPM (it is 4.5K for GS) and avoid riding at a constant RPM for a long time.
During first service make sure that the service guys replace the oil filter. Sometimes they say that they don't have stock and ask us to get it replaced during second service. But I feel that it is required to change it in 1st service since the filter would contain some metal particles collected during run-in.--I STOP ON RED--

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Today i saw some oil accumulated near the engine head gasket area (on the exhaust side of the engine). There is only a small amount. I don't know if it is normal or i need to do an engine head gasket replacement. Please tell me if it is normal or only i am having this problem.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Dear all finally I have selected Susuki-GS150R bike and willget its delivery after two weeks (Since I ordered old graphics-white red combo color to 2014 machine). Last 3-4 months were full of buzzing through different webs and Moto-sites to know about this baby. Dig down a lot with specification, pick-up, mileage, comfort and machine strength and found GS150r could cater all my needs. This blog was very helpful in a decision making process and really appreciate coz to a novice person like me who is fully unaware about the bike world could realise how amazing a machine could be. I stay in Pune so don’t think the after sales service will be an issue. I was initially not happy with the sudden price hike by Suzuki on motorcycles in Jan-2014….It made me crazy since 80k+ for 150cc bike is like hell. Up to Dec 2013 it was 76-77k and with 3k cost rise wasn’t a good deal.…. But I am fall in love with Whitecolor beast…OMG its stunning tank is amazing and side view is awesome. ..I feltlike every single necessity could fulfil below one roof …….engine balancertechnology…Heavy wt.…Digital console. Perfect seat position for rider andpillion...6th Gear…Gear position indicator. fantastic mileage (50-55)….Longengine durability….Nice battery which could last for min 4-5 years…. loud horn…acomplete paisa vasool………….. Though you go for other150cc segment the price difference won’t be more than 3-4 k and moreover considering the petrol hike and maintenance cost of other bike Suzuki GS will surelyrecover the extra money I have spent on it (I am hoping it , let’s see)......So finally decided whatever may outcome I am readyto purchase it…. & finally I made my choice. What do u say guys? Please share. (I will share my firstexperience with this bike)….thx to all people who had helped me making thischoice.Last edited by RaviRaj123; 04-10-2014, 08:23 PM.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
The prices which are mentioned on the Suzuki official website are as below, do you think the bike cost could be decreased due to excise duty. Are below updated prices for GS150r??
Below are the orices as on 11th April 2014 for the west (maharashtra region).

Also I have a one more concern, when I downloaded and read the GS150R brochure from website they have not mentioned anything related to the XTP (Xtreme Torque performance) and EBT-Engine Balancer technolgy & Vibration-free engine. Is this technolgy removed from the 2014 machine ?? or are there any additional changes brough to the machine. Need your help if anyone have any idea. Thanx.Last edited by RaviRaj123; 04-11-2014, 11:59 AM.

Everything including the SJCS is present in the 2014 bike. They might have simply removed XTP from the brochure.Originally posted by RaviRaj123 View PostAlso I have a one more concern, when I downloaded and read the GS150R brochure from website they have not mentioned anything related to the XTP (Xtreme Torque performance) and EBT-Engine Balancer technolgy & Vibration-free engine. One change is the recent addition of the colour Candy Red instead of Candy Max Orange.
Apart from that the present GS differs from the first batch with: slightly altered 1st and 2nd gear ratios, removal of front fork rubber boots, simple non-adjustable gear shift linkage, replacement of U-clamp type washer in rear axle nut with a simple washer, change in design of clutch actuating arm near the engine, new headlamp cowl, exhaust heat shield, new exhaust note.
As you can see the many changes are insignificant to an end user. All the major goodies like Teflon coated petrol tank and engine balancer are always in!
