My apologies for the confusion rkbalaji. I was just testing my first post from mobile after my account got approved with plans to delete the entry. Sorry for the trouble.

By the way you would have noticed that I am pretty new to this.

On last saturday 28 Feb 2015, I visited VTJ Suzuki showroom and service center (Maradu, Cochin Kerala) for some minor checkups for my GS150R and wanted to test ride the latest version of GS. So I went in to showroom from service center which is in the same building to ask for test ride. The lady there said to me that there are no GS150's for test ride and in continued conversation she told me that they are not having any stock of GS150R as the company has stopped the production for the domestic market and Suzuki is exporting the GS150R's to international markets only. I told her that unfortunately I am not able to believe her and asked to speak with the manager in a friendly note and unfortunately for me he vouched for the news she gave me. I think 'we' all could be in trouble in terms of spares etc for our loved GS150R's. Not to mention that we are not able to get the most common spares/replacements from the automobile shops.

Is this news true? or any inputs?

There are two parts in your query. First, I doubt Suzuki will discontinue GS150R, as it has a steady following. But who knows.

Second part: About your assumption of spare parts. Rest assured. In worst case that GS is discontinued (which I doubt), a company still has to provide spare parts for 15 years after discontinuation of any vehicle. Even the short lived Inazuma has this assurance. GS has been on sale from 2008. So rest your worries and enjoy the ride.

Hello all,

Regarding the discontinuation of GS, all I know is that I read online (and I posted the link in one of my previous posts) that GS is gonna get the SEP upgrade in the 2015 models. Also, when buying my own GS around 3 months ago, one of the showrooms (in bangalore) mentioned that they only have Gixxer and Gs isn't available anymore, not for test ride and not for booking either as the company has stopped production. I think we should not believe what the sales people at showroom say and wait for an official announcement from Suzuki. When I went for the 1st service of my bike, I saw 1 more brand new GS which was ready for delivery (also white).

Yesterday's rain and sudden change of weather (in a good way) called for a long ride during the night time. It is the same time when the odo clocked 2000kms. Due date for 2nd free service is next week. Smooth and steady so far, with avg mileage around 53/54 kmpl (a lot of rides with pillion).

Safe and happy riding!

I agree with Animeher and Roamer19 too.I have just bought a few days back ,but only considering the reliability of this bike,I have opted to take that chance. So don't worry much and enjoy your ride.In the mean time, just shot a mail to Suzuki as well regarding the same. Will update if they reply .

Just to update about mileage of my GS .It yielded 51.5 Kmpl with a speed of 80Kmph for the stretch of 340 Kms.The ride was mostly at 80 and occasionally at 100+ .

Hi All,

Thanks to all for your feedbacks, I read entire thread and bought GS150R tow days back. Bike is excellent.

But I have concern about milage of my bike. My bike was delivered on 4th March and it odo showed 24 kms at the time of delvery. After delivery I filled 10 Ltrs of SHELL super petrol immediately. Fuel indicator showed four points. Now after two days, odo shows 120 kms but fuel indicator shows only two points.

If one point in fuel indicator represents 3 ltrs of pertrol, did my bike consume 6 ltrs of petrol to travel 100 kms. Appologise if my assumption on fuel indicator is wrong.

The bike goes into reserve with with 1 bar and only after 50+ kms in reserve does the indicator begin to flash. Also the reserve tank is more than 3ltrs

So how can I calculate approx fuel efficiency now. I dont know how much petrol was there at the time of delivery(it was show one bar), and I added 10 lts more. When it goes to reserve next time it consumed all 10 ltrs right.

By the way digital fuel guage is showing three points now, it was two this morning.

Congrats on your new GS purchase. What the ORP?
The FE should always be calculated Tank full to full(upto brim) to find out the exact FE.

Hi all, hope all of you is having a great weekend.
My GS150R's clutch cable snapped yesterday night and I managed to reach home with out clutch after driving for more than 6 kilometers. So I am thinking the possibility of DIY clutch cable replacement.
And here are my questions
1) I am not updated in advancements in clutch cable lubrication. Do I need to grease the cable before installation. It seems that my present cable is not greased at all.

2) how to adjust for the best clutch performance.

3) how much does the cable cost

4) does any one has a copy of the following
A) service/repair manuals in English
B) spare parts price list
C) seems my RR could be over charging. Can I install ape RR with out rewinding the stock stator coil

5) should I get it done in service center than DIY? I always go DIY with repairs and creations had good amount of DIY experience.

Always a good idea - knowing how to replace clutch & throttle cable and keeping a spare for each on the bike . It's very easy to DIY - shall save you someday in the middle of nowhere , don't ask me how I know this .

1) / 2) The clutch cable is friction-free type , never lubricate it . You can lubricate the studs at the ends with little grease while installing . Note how the old cable is routed and remove it . Dismantle the clutch lever , clean old grease and crud with kerosene and rags . Grease it's pivots generously . Install the new cable on it , install it back on the bike handle , route cable correctly through and attach the other end to the engine's clutch arm . Lube the pivoted joint where it attaches to the engine's clutch arm . Adjust cable by moving the 2 adjusting nuts up or down , leave ample slack so that there is 10-20mm of free play at the clutch lever ( prefer more play ) . Tools in your bike's tool bag should suffice .

3) my bike's OE clutch cable cost Rs 79 and throttle cable is Rs 59 , your's should not be more than 100 . Always buy OE cables .

can't say about RR , but it is best for reliability to stick with OE parts and setup . Did you check the RR's charging current/voltage at the battery with mutimeter ?

Thank you Pinaki especially for the information about lubrication free cables, I was not aware the new type of cables.

Hi to all..

I bought this black bull (GS 150 r ) 8 months back. Untill 1st service from SMK Suzuki porur ,I had no issues other than hadlebar bent due to a minor accident which i replaced later.Let me list out the problems hoping to find help from this thread..

I use to get a mileage of 58-60 kmpl when ridden in economy mode with a speed range of 50-60kmph on highway stretch
Got my 1st service when odo clocked 890kms.Since then i face low mileage issues my bull delivers only 40-44 kmpl with same road and same driving patterns.I rode numerous times to service centre, but all i got was some eye washing like loose chain is the reason,2nd time they tuned the idelling screw from 1200rpm to 1000rpm but no change in mileage,3rd time they did some tuning in the fuel screw but still no change in mileage,4 th time despite of my forcing got MILEAGE CAN test with 100ml fuel i got a reading of 5.6 kms .but i used reserve to reserve method which gave me only 42kmpl,half litre homemade coke bottle mileage can also returned the same low mileage figure..

*Before 1st service = 60 kmpl * after 1st service = 40-42kmpl..(now my bike reads 2040kms on odo).

*2 nd service at smk .NO improvement .walked in many times with this low mileage issue.no improvements.
*Then I got my bike serviced at ABT (6000ms odo)they cleaned and tuned the carb, cleaned brakes ,but no improvements.

I am really frustrated of this issue ,hope someone could help me here..I will post my ownership review after getting these problems solved.Help me guys please..

*I checked my airfilter .Its clean as new
*I spark plug have no issues as I can see blue sparks clearly, optimum gap and plug is clean.
*My carb fuel screw is 2.5 (360+360+180 degrees) from lock position.Noted it while the svc guy tuned.
*Fuel I use the hp bunk nearby since the first day of buying this bike.So no prob with fuel.
*Both wheel rotates freely
*chain tight seems to be normal

*no leaks in petrol tank.
*nothing abnormal.
*no hiccups while riding

Help me I loose around 100rs per 500rs fuel + waste of fuel in environment extra pollution

Thanks ....

Have you checked your riding habits. Some motorcycles responds to riding habits with huge range drop. I have experienced the same with my motorcycle when I used to ride in harsh bumper to bumper traffic in a harsh manner. Kindly check if this is the reason. And I would always suggest a fuel can for checking mileage or may be you could get the mileage checked from service center itself. They will always carry the cans for checking mileage
