    Hi All,

    Two days back , i went to apple autos for my 9th free service. After checking the dates, they said the 9th service period is over and took the bike for 10th service which is a paid one. They says the 9th service has to be done before 440 days of purchase . My bike is now 475 days old and hence they did the 10th service.

    the problems were,
    . qweek sound from disc due to dust.
    . hard gears

    after service,
    . qweek sound still exists.
    . clutch cable replaced. ( the clutch is so smooth now . but still, its a little difficult to change gears sometimes.)

    First time crossed 700 rs in total bill amount excluding engine Oil change. if engine oil was changed, it would've been 1000+ .

    that is, with this service, my warranty is gone now as i missed the 9th service. only good things are clutch cable got replaced and they washed the bike. other issues still continues. yet 736 rs bill..

      I've been to Nine-Star Suzuki couple of times, only with some queries and to buy some spares. Most of the service points had Access125 dismantled during my visits. GS150R was standing only in showroom on the ground floor (service in the basement).
      In-city biggies work on most GS150R, however ratio stays put. Stay with the bike during servicing if possible(make it possible).

      Billing application is customised to each ASC/SVC/ASS I suppose.

      Now that you void the warranty look at all the possibilities you've created!!!
      - AC to DC setup
      - lot of room for DIY => savings on paid services
      - visit ASC/SVC/ASS only for nontrivial services

      PS: thanks for the bill.

        Today went to the service center for checking cylinder head gasket and found it need to be replaced. Any one else experience similar problems at approx 8500KMs?. I heard Hunk,CBZ and all will loose its gasket after 2 years.

          Why did they suggest head gasket replacement and what is the actual problem with the bike? I hope there is no oil or compression leak.
          Anyway, it is better to get the bike checked at another SC.

Is this technolgy removed from the 2014 machine ?? or are there any additional changes brough to the machine. Need your help if anyone have any idea. Thanx.
            Bargain hard on these prices. You wud get a good deal. Do take quotes from 2 or 3 different dealers and do let them know that u are approaching the other dealers.

            The brochure..... poor marketing.

              Hi Nikhil,
              Aryan charges 75 for chain lubrication but nothing for polish.

              I am also quite pissed with aryan service. They seemed to have dropped the bike somehow and there is a small dent in the right side of the tank and scratches in right mirror and indicator.

              I want to try ninestar next time.

                See my previous post for details. All I want to know is, is it common to loose cylinder head gasket?.

                  "Hard to shift" GS Gears? :

                  1. Correct free play in clutch lever.

                  Maintain manual recommended free play in clutch lever - too much of free play and the clutch won't disengage 100% when you pull in the lever. For a constant mesh gearbox this means the gears to be mated will still be rotating at high speeds that they will grind and mesh/mess with each other. We need the gears to be spinning, slowing down actually in the oil bath for a less aggressive, less stressful trial-and-error match of their teeth. Too little a free play - the clutch will slip and wear out faster and sluggishness from the machine.

                  2. Correct slack (manual, manual ! Do what the white book says) and well lubed chain will ease the gear shift.

                  3. During a up-shift, release the throttle completely and smoothly. I was briefly making this mistake of not releasing the throttle completely resulting in a "constipated shift".

                  4. Try up-shifting with your heel. Note: I have practiced and enjoyed toe-only-shifting till date - absolutely no problems.

                  5. Correct recommended grade of oil - I think you use AX-7, so this is something you can skip.

                  6. Shifting action at the lever should be quick, progressive (by being progressive we gently encourage the gearbox and the beautiful unit sweetly shifts itself without any fuss) and positive. A lazy, delayed up-shift, resulted for me, a false neutral or the box returning to the previous gear with a painful "grrrrrrrrrr" and "thuuunk".

                  7. Blip throttle for each downshift - I learn't this in my Eterno days itself. White book mentions about the blip too.

                  8. Additionally you can:

                  Try gently preloading the shift lever i.e. applying very mild pressure even before pulling-in clutch lever/closing throttle. I don't know if this is absolutely necessary - may be others can guide.

                  If every thing above fails, refer to SVC.

                  And why did they replace clutch cable? engine mounting bolt?

                  P.S. Congrats on losing your warranty just like me and as Sparkot told, this opened a lot of doors for you and you freed yourself from the for-the-sake-of-warranty 2000 kms service schedule. Good thing you replaced the fuel tank lock under warranty in last visit.

                    Hello !!
                    I have approached two showrooms personally and called two dealers at Pune but the price difference is vary except few minor cost changes. The price was remain the same i.e 80k all over hence seems like the prices are raised by Suzuki recently for all its models & dont know why .. My instinct says it would have been a great package if it had come up with Dual disc or Tubeless tyres. But still I will be happy to spent 80k for this horse than spending 83k for Yamaha buffalo. Many thx.

                      While I paid a visit to the service centre last month, the svc supervisor (or svc manager.. I don't know) there was talking to me about the robustness of GS's engine. He told me that he has never seen any major engine problems in any of the GS so far in that svc centre. He was telling me that the only problem he has seen in GS is the head gasket wearing out. So, if the svc guys are themselves aware of the issue, I think they might have already given their feedback to Suzuki. So, I guess the newer models may be less susceptible to pre-mature wearing of head gasket.

                      Anyways, check with another service centre for your satisfaction and replace the head gasket if required. Hopefully the newer gasket lasts longer.

                        He, that SC manager, may be more correct as he is more experienced but dip097 is the first person reporting an issue of blown head gasket here. The mechanics or the manager at the SC here in my town is not aware of such a problem.

                          Yeah, I don't recollect reading about `Head Gasket Leak` on this thread so far.

                          And for clarity are we referring to this when we say `Head Gasket`:

                          Can you share the weight of the Fork-Oil to be used in GS150R? We know it has to be 145 ml in quantity but of what grade?

                          5w(Light), 10w(Medium) or 20w(Heavy).

                          Since mixing grades from same maker is safer we can have:
                          7.5w = (5w + 10w) / 2
                          12.5w = (5w + 20w) / 2
                          15w = (10w + 20w) / 2

                          approximately!!!

                            I am using Castrol 20W fork oil and most of the fork oils we get here is of 20W.

                                Thanks for sharing the information. It seems that most of the service centers are familiar with head gasket replacement. Two service centers offered me Head Gasket replacement in a single day if i give my bike in the morning and another service center which is a smaller one said they need two full days.

                                In the case of fork oil Veedol is recommended for GS. I did't saw any viscosity rating on the bottle. If you are going to change the oil, a word of caution. It is not actually supported by the service center it self. From my experience, main problem is cleaning the forks and refilling with accurate amount of oil. If you are experiencing hard suspension try releasing the air in the forks first before attempting the oil change.
