By the way did you hear any small rattling sound from then engine, it becomes prominent after a 15 mins ride? I rode unicorn of my friend to verify about the amazing handling of it. Just as you said it feels so small and light. On comfort level GS is best for long rides.

    Thanks for commenting
I have also covered some odd 1000 kms on my bike.
Regarding the rattling sound , I think I have not noticed anything like that.
The engine is really smooth in all gears up to a point where you are opening the throttle up to 1/4th or some thing. After that the engine sound changes to a little roaring type, not like that in pulsars, but it is there.
But in case of unicorn, the engine was still smooth even when violently opening up the throttle.
    Others please comment

PS: By the way I like the engine roaring a little.
But seeing all these reviews stating the "super smooth" engine, I thought that it might be some thing wrong related to my bike

Does anyone's bike give any sound when it is on 2nd gear and accelerated from 2k to 4k rpm slowly.

      Hi,
Regarding "ones who must have rode the bike for atleast 3-4k", I didn't quite followed that.
Just clarifying, DON'T take the other way

Hii bro, sanjukoli12 meant before commenting about a bike one should atleat ride 3000 - 4000 km on it. Not by just riding some odd kilometers. In my case there is small hissing like sound when i open throttle a little bit. It usually occurs once the engine gets heated. I hope it will go away after first service. Will definitely let others know about it.

            • What should be the ideal average!!!!!

Hello everyone, Wishing all of you guys happy new year , sorry i was out of town. Anyways i wana ask that what should be the expected average of gs? Service center guy told me that after 1st service u'll get 50 km. I had that but its only given around 45 max. that too with alot of restricted biking.
Now he's saying that let the 2nd service be over then avg. will come up. I have no problems with the avg. But i wanted to know what company is claiming on this bike. Got my bike in Dec. And now its almost 1500km old.
Anyone who can sort out will be appreciated
              Thanks again.

My 2 cents are: Don't worry too much about the mileage, as long as its not fluctuating&not too low/high. My older bike, TVS Fiero F2 gave&has been giving 45kmpl consistently since 6 years. Engine in smooth condition after 50K kms. I did see some other bikes giving around 10kmpl more, but didn't worry about that, as long as my engine is running smooth!
Oh yeah, you can tune the carb for mileage/power, but the factory setting is the ideal one for a consistent performance on both fronts. I prefer that.

I am keeping the throttle below 1/4 at all times and keeping max speed below 60 equivalent to 4.5 RPM in 6th gear. I guess smooth driving for better mileage can not be oversaid. Just smooth glidely.

Got awesome mileage of 56 before 1st service. Filled it with 500 bucks of petrol just after reserve calculated depeding on when it went to reserve next time.

                  Its Driving me Crazy..

                  Any suggestions after first service,

He mentioned something consumable in the service slip 45/-. Will collect the baby in the eve.

I am sure will get better mileage then >56

Hii buddy, the company claims a mileage of 62. My bike has clocked 850 on ODO. Mine has given consistent average of above 50 even with a pillion, with restricted riding ofcoz ( topgear @4.5K). I ride mostly on highways with a few kms through city. Don't worry bro you will definitely get mileage above 50.

Hii buddy, good to see one more passionate biker. Why didnt you ride atleast 1000 km before first service? I have clocked 850 in three weeks and in this one week i will probably clock 1000. Either 750- 1000 km or 1 month is the first service, i will go only after completing 1000km. I don't know if it is correct or not, a friend of mine said that we should ride to the maximum during free services and within warranty period in case if anything goes wrong it will be covered . People usually wont ride much fearing it will damage it and later on when they begin to ride they have to pay for those parts for replacement. Anyone please comment on this.

                        Sorry to burst your bubble,
But the consistent trend with GS is that mileage drops after first service

@dj_5001: i get around 53-55, and this is after touching 80 atleast twice a day, crossing 70 quite a bit, and trying to rip when the signal becomes green.
I touch 4.5 -5.5k rpm in all gears before shifting.

Im goin for first service as well!!! My friend said that every time when he gives bikes for servicing they will tune the carburator for power and there will be a shortage of 5 kmpl?

I wana thanks everyone for their comments.. as far as calculations goes i don't mind having less average as long bike runs smooth. Also what i liked in GS is on highways and in city also if u look straight and not looking at meter i don't think u can get the speed in which bike is running,, just awesome

Well said, its with great difficulty than im riding it under 60,as its still running in period?

                              Keep riding

Yup, they set the carb to a rich mixture, i heard it helps the engine set in new bikes.
After 3 services you could tell them to adjust it for mileage.
I get around 45 after service, but after riding for around 200km after service, it seems to come back to 50s anyway.
