Actually, I differ on this statement. I have ridden the bike in heavy rains as well as harsh sunlight, and never did i feel I was losing tyre grip. The stock ones work just fine for me.

+1. The stocks works just fine on tarmac. There is no need to change. My suggestion would be to use the stocks for a while. If still feel the need to change go for it. By the way animeher, I guess its you who did some load shedding and used a higher wattage bulb. Is there considerable difference between the new and the stock one? Also does the higher wattage bulb appears to be dimmer at idle? Raj

        • I have done the load shedding thing, and popped in a 60W Osram silverstar bulb. The light so far is good, even at low RPMs. I am pushing for the new RR unit, so if I can get that, then I can compare with other GSs whether there is any improvement and how much.

hmm... good to know that. I am also thinking of load shedding and using a night breaker. Did you do it yourself or took it to a mechanic? Also, the dealer has agreed to change the RR unit to BA series. I have the older AA one. Lets see what happens. Raj.

            • Kk guys i am almost done have my exams on 24th going this week around and most probably will get the whole thing done same day provided i am as satisfied about it as i am right now

So i wanted to know i really want to change the tires atleast to tubeless don't want to get stranded and the most areas i drive i don't see any mechanics. So should i go for same set stock tires but tubeless or should i go for Ceat Vertigo or some other one which is better than the stock tires.

Also sorry to ask but lot of discussion regarding the head lights so are they still a issue in the new models as well ?

actually i don't mind sticking with the stock tires if they were atleast Tubeless since the places i drive for quite a stretch there are no mechanics don't want to push the bike at 44 degrees heat

Also are the New models 2 tone?

                  • Does the mileage of bikes reduce in summer due to evaporation of fuel from tank ?

Last one or two months my mileage hasnt crossed 48, even with sane riding
It was around 44, after i complained to the SC they tuned it, (reduced the idling rpm to 1100 too) and i'm getting 47 now without exceeding 5000rpm.

I try my best to park my bike where there's shade but may be 2-3 days in a week i have to park under the sun(from 9am to 4pm) where my tank gets too hot to touch continuously for 5 sec.

                      Suzuki GS150R
                      Max Power 13.8bhp @ 8,500rpm Max Torque 13.4Nm @ 6,000rpm
                      Bajaj Pulsar 135LS
                      Maximum power : 13.4 @ 9000 rmp
                      Maximum torque : 11.4 @ 7500
                      Just curious.
I dont think the LS has any extra punch. Agreed it a much lighter bike, 4valves and all but the figures clearly state it is not better than the GS.
Max torque and max power both comes at later RPMs than the GS. The top end might be punchy compared to other below 150cc bikes, but not better than the GS.

About the tyre grip issue.... I have completed close to 7K on the ODO. On tarmac I found the tyres really good. Cornering at good speeds does't give a feeling of lack of grip. On clean tarmac even on hard braking the tyres dont slip easily. I've never gone off road. So no idea about that. Not had a puncture yet. But when I'll change my tyres, i'll surely go for tubeless. I remember pushing my old bike over a hill once after a puncture. I still remember how helpless and desperate I was that day.

With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

hmm i don't think that it has anything to do with parking under the sun not sure since i ride Eterno so i have never see that issue. now bangalore to be true has better weather conditions than delhi but worse petrol bunks don't know off later have heard lot about malpractices followed by them from my relative who stays in bangalore.Do you but petrol from HP,BPCL,IOC etc or Shell.

Since shell is there in bangalore. You could try switching also try switching to may be the premium petrol also.

Really doesn't sound like any issue with the bike more of petrol issues.

                        • Guys after reading and seeing pics of tank rusting issue posted by someone in bike . in. i inspected my fuel tank today.

to my shock my fuel tank mouth inner side starting to corrode.

I heard this issue was in 2009 models only. im unluckly even though i got in feb 2010.

but its not much will check with SC and ask for replacement if required during my second service.

                          Any 2010 owners ?

Some part of it you are right, that the fuel might be evaporating due to summer heat. Also try & fill petrol from Shell bunks & check the mileage.

                            Think rest all is fine.

                            Adi,
GS does not have TL tyres. The company fitted tyre is 100/90/18 tube typed MRF Zapper Y tyre for rear & 2.75/18 tube type MRF Zapper FS for front.

The new models some what look like 2 tone. But actually its just a new sticker job.

Thanks for the answer pal. I am not too familiar with the mechanics of the bike and so needed a clarification. So I assume that if a bike has more power at lower RPMs, it is better, right?

                                I believe
More power at lower RPM means Power Down at Higher RPM
