  • What should be the minimum KMS before delivery

Sanju, Thanks for the response!!! Please also clarify one more thing.

What should be the default KMs it should have run before delivery... (To ensure that the bike is not used for test drive etc.... ) They would have taken it for registration etc... so it would have comsumed some KMs....

      Good Choice Baala.

The bike shouldn't have run more than 100 KMS.
Mine had run 60Kms, as my RTO office was a good 18 kms from the showroom.

Check for rust issues inside the tank. Check all electricals and brakes.

Is your bike with the new stickering? (Why do I keep asking this to everyone )

Congrats once again. Waiting for pictures.
Quit tabulating grudges. Let it off. Discuss it, then trash it, don't recycle it.

      • Your's is the good deal.(i got my deal at 67,021 in hyd, excluding the teflon coating i too got the same free accesories.

Regarding the KMs....i didnot noticed much abut that aspect, but it should be below 5kms...And furthurmore we have take the vehicle for the permanet registration.

Even though they will deliver it with all thorough check.Just take ride aftre the bike is delivered and check the basics like breaks etc..after that to be sure, request any person who have came to do service thier gs at that service center. he can guid you better.

        Thanks,
        kasperr.

          Thanks Joey....

I didn't notice anything special on the sticker...

I will check the other thing as you have guided.

          Thanks Again

          • @Baala: Congrats on the new bike, it is a great decision!
Just check whether they are giving you the latest model with new stickers&silencer cover (the older one has only a S logo on the tank, nothing on the rear panels)&the shape of the silencer cover is also different.
            All the best!

            • Guys, I know you know this news, but Vesta and I won the best travelogue competiotion I am so glad that even when I was financially pinched, I saved and waited to finally buy GS. She performed superbly well in the tour, and I hope she continues to do so in years to come.

                background:
                ------------
I droped my sister to her office and went on to check the battery(monthly check, exide show room)Than,I stopped at the signal, waiting for the red to turn green.Once the light was green i started moving on the bike on first gear with 10 kmph on the odo,all of a sudden i falled down to the right side.(It happened in a fraction of second, there was no oil or sand, but there was light water onthe road that to approx three to 5 inches width).Luckly, with gods grace i escaped with minor bruises on the right hand elbow, skin peeled off and twisted ankle.the bike got small scracthes on the right side headligte side.one of the road sider helped me to wake me up and helped me to reach hospital. When i locked the bike.To my shock the key was half broken horizontal and bent.

                Querys:
                -------

1)is this accident due to lock problem of the bike(because i was in total controll on the bike at only 10 kmph.all of a sudden the bike fall down and the enigine was off,if there was a slip or skid then atlease at that i would have tried to stop the bike with the leg)

2)Did any biker faced this similar problem?if yes please help in furthur action.

3)do i need to replace the existing lock with the new one or shall i cliam solution from the suzuki(the bike is 45 days old and completed its first service 4 days bacy with 700 km on the odo)

Please help me in this matter as it is serious, luckly it did not happened when i was dropping my sister to office (at 30 to 40 kmph)Than i would have been disaster for my family itself.

                Thanks,
                kasperr.
Relax, I don't think it was due to lock problem. GS has a very nasty habbit of stopping right in the track almost throwing the rider off if we are riding extremely slow in 2nd or third gear without riding the clutch. When my GS was new, even I was almost on the road due to this behavior. From then, I just remember to be extra cautious in traffic and never be in 3rd gear in traffic below 20 kmph speed.

The water must have caused the slipping, because dry tyres + wet surface = deadly combination for slippage. While falling, some part of your body may have hit the key in the lock, that's why it is twisted.

If your bike was used for test ride, they would have disconnected the speedo and it wont register on the speedo console anyway..

But dont worry, i know the people at airport road suzuki, they dont give new bikes for test rides..

My bike had 7km on ODO when it was delivered..

Congrats on your purchase anyways.. post pics as soon as possible and tell us if it is the new model or old model.. (sorry i meant new stickers not model)

                  @animeher:
congrats on winning the competition.. i didnt know the news till you mentioned it here

Even i had an accident few month ago...
Was seriously wondering how it happened...
The next day i realized that it was due to lack of air pressure in the rear tyre..
                      Was it something like that????

Oh, someone please tell me how does an accident happen when the air pressure in the tyre is low. Are we talking about the front tyre or the rear?? At low speeds or fast?? I really didnt know tyre pressure was so crucial to safety. I would not want to find myself in an accident with any of the reasons I can avoid. So experts please shed some light on this.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

If the tyre is over inflated, then the amount of contact between tyre and road reduces(only the bald centre part of our tyre will be in contact with road) which can cause skidding easily..

For under inflated tyres, usually the life of the tyre reduces due to too much contact with the road, i'm not sure about the accident part, unless the tyre is almost flat, then you might be aware how it feels while riding with flat tyres

speed doesnt really matter much here, but generally, its easier to control a bike at lower speeds for stopping suddenly etc

                            Oh i forgot to mention.....
Actually the air pressure in the rear type went low due to leak at the mouth of its tube...
The tyre was almost flat, wobbled and skidded when i applied acceleration..
I knew something was fishy when i took the bike, since i was late for work i didn't take necessary precautions..

When the pressure becomes low, u can actually feel ur bike is a bit underpowered...
And of-course pressure is very important factor for safety...
It is like Blood Pressure, So keep checking whenever u visit a fuel station........

                            • Thanks to one and all for helping me!!!!!!

Sincere Thanks to everyone in this blog for helping me decide on my first bike.

Took delivery of the vehicle today. It is yet to get its registration number. Will be getting it on Monday, hopefully!!!

@ Joey: Thanks Mate!!! The bike had run only 2 KMs. When I checked for Rust, the Sales Manager, Muniraj, immediately understood and told me that, it has been handled in the recent ones.... I will hope for the best!!!! As far as I saw there wasn't any rust....

                              @ Sarvajit : Thanks!!!

Not sure of the stickerings.... you could tell me... I took a couple of snaps of the stickers in the front and back .... Tell me if they are new....

@ Kasperrmat: I went around the bike like its a temple, close to around 5 - 6 times, then asked them to move it to the centre (where sun was not falling directly) and went round it a couple of more times.... to check for any damage or dent!!! The sticker on the front of the bike on the side of head light was damaged ..... Told the sales guy... he immediately had it replaced.... I was not able to make out the effect of the Teflon Coating .... as I could do in an orange or grey bike!!!! Not sure why.... Still I was above all that.....the bike is a babe man!!! couldn't take my eyes of it and couldn't wait to take her for the first ride!!!!

Mr. Muniraja took me through the various aspect of the bike once more before finally handing me the keys!!! As suggested by you, I did take it for a test ride, Thanks. It was cool!!!! I don't have words to decribe the feel....Brakes were perfect.... the ride was butter smooth. Enjoyed every bit of it.

@ thefalcon: Thanks!!! It had run for only 2kms. They had taken it to Indira Nagar RTO.
I am not able to judge anything on the stickers ... please see the pics below and let me know.

Paid service in chennai (I think its common for every suzuki SVC)

                                200 + VAT = 222
