        Don't know how much kms your GS150R done;

MOTUL 300V FL is a fully synthetic oil
MOTUL 300V FL seems to be 15W 50 type (doesn't go with the GS150R recomended grade - refer manual)

cost would be between 800 to 900 rupees

        @ Adi

In bangalore Teflon coating costs me 400 rupees and they promised 2 more teflon coating free with in 1 year
motul 300v is available in 5w40 and 10w40 grades too.. guess 5w40 is common and 10w40 is rare..
and 5w40 is between 700 and 750 bucks..

where did u get teflon coating at 400bucks ?
in airport road suzuki its 2 coats in a year for 500. but guess they use some good polish so its more expensive. (they were saying its some german brand)

            • Guyz,my GS got teflon coating last week and the price was....400 for two coatings...next coating after 5 months....

But was curious to know about "polymer coating" which gives anti scratch warranty(read in this thread only).....so polymer coating is better than teflon,right.....correct me if ii am wrong...

              1)difference between teflon and polymer?
2)which is best between the two?

Any hyd guys how has done polymer coating for their gs?

              Thanks,
              Nag.

Sorry for the confusion, I was the one who mentioned about polymer coating. By polymer I meant PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene),which is most well known by the DuPont brand name Teflon. Its similar to photostat copy being called as xerox copy. This created confusion of polymer coating and Teflon. PTFE has one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any solid, and that why they are used in protective coatings.

My dealer offered me free Teflon coating worth Rs.500, and later I found it to be just a wax polish, many dealers are doing so. It will be better if you get it done by a trustworthy dealer.

Every bike has its own characteristic
it should be there in pulsar also but the sound is not in a noticeable pitch
But in GS150R its like that, don't bother about it coz its a good sign only (your bike is talking to you yes its telling see bose my catalyst converter is working )

Thanks Anup for clearing the air regarding Teflon and polymer coating......

I am wondering, how they gave three year scratch proof warranty?Because here the guy didnot mentioned anything like that of warrenty......

I request you aup to please find out with your neighbour what exactly he has done to his bike...teflon/polymer coating.....

The service guy did polymer coating in front of me.......after the bike is serviced....the guy initially cleaned the gs with some liquid to remove dirt.....and than applied Teflon liquid light pink in color in patches on the bike including all the metal and plastic/rubber etc(don't know whether it is Teflon or something els) i enquired about the teflon brand,he said that the teflon they bought it from whole seller in lose form...than he took "bosch" machine to spread Teflon evenly on the bike, than he took banian cloth and polished furthur....thats it...and cautioned me to not to wipe the bike if there is water fall on the bike...but let it dry itself....if it is wiped..the teflon coating will be last.......

                      Regards,
                      Nag.

even for me they told not to put the petrol tank cover or wipe [clean with cloths or whatever] for the next 24 hours also said should use only mild shampoo or wash only with water

the following urls may help you a bit
Motor oil viscosity grades and how they are selected. What do they mean and why is it important?

Actually I created this confusion rite......

The one I mentioned is given by another agency not bike dealer. Coating costs Rs.750, scratch resistant and fire proof with a warranty of 3 years.

I request you anup to please find out with your neighbor what exactly he has done to his bike...teflon/polymer coating.....

                          Sure.

Nice detailed explanation. Usually i never allow water to dry itself, it will leave a patch there. I wipe the water with a cotton towel, and use another dry towel to give it a shine.

                          Regards,
                          Nag.

I think the polisher asked Nag not ever to wipe water if it falls on bike and not just within 24 hours.

                            • @Madhu...I read all these stuff a lot already.....but after scaning through the threads and some other sites......I got confused regarding the e oils

May be i read a lot or misunderstood.....like i read reviews about sprinta 4t 5000..some said that it is best for thier bikes but some other contradicted(most of the users are pulserians....) and some had great experience withe the engine oils that are out of recommended (grades) as their respective company's.......like uni has 20w40 if i am not wrong...but some uni owners after some kms on odo shifted to motul 300v and felt satisfied than before.....

So decided to collect first hand info from the riders about the e oils.....

                              Thanks,

Some times dealers entertain us by saying good jokes like these

My personal opinion is to stick to the factory recommended grade. The second value should not be changed, as it may affect the free revving of the engine. It may be helpful to those who does long runs and that too in higher engine rpm. If a higher one is used by those doing short trips(<30) it will make the engine sluggish and will take more time to get heated. Only an engine within proper temperature will give optimum mileage. Every rider have their own riding style and hence something working on a particular engine may not hold true for everyone. So its always better for a trial and error method within the factory recommended ratings.
