  • Gave my GS for Servicing yesterday. No noticable Difference in Performance as such after Service. Gears are still a tad Harder. Must be probably because i have not yet changed the Oil as they refused to change to Gulf. Will get it changed tomorrow from outside.

I had an Interesting Experience yesterday that i would like to share. Yesterday night, i went to my usual Petrol Pump to fill Petrol till the Auto-Cutoff. But as the Auto-Cutoff Sensor was not working on the Pertol filling Machine, told him to fill the Tank till the Brim. When i went to the Pump, my Bike had not yet come in Reserve. It was showing 1 Steady Bar. So, i assume there must be around 3 - 4 Litres of Petrol in the Tank. He started filling Petrol and the Tank just wont fill up. Finally, the Tank filled up and the total Quantity filled was 16.12 Ltr. Total 900 Rs. of Fuel. And mind you, i already had about 3 Litres of Fuel in the Tank.
So, that makes it a total of ~20 Ltrs. Howz that Possible !!!

I don't suspect any Foul Play here as i have been filling from that same Pump since many Years and i had checked that the Meter was set to 0 before he started filling. It's Puzzling.
Is it because i filled Petrol during the Night time after 10 PM when the Fuel does not expand, so more quantity can fit in ?

The Gs tank design is like that,, refer my old post(one year back) me too had similar exp .....
if u fill to brim level upto tank cap it will take another 2 to 3 litre if u have patience ...according to me its 15.5 + 5ltr there is some 1 litre of petrol unusable
Share ur exp with gulf after doing 200km

Dont think too technical... simple. They cheating for you many years. See there are several ways of cheating. One is to fill without resetting another which majority of the bunks follow is to tamper the machine itself.

so even if your calculation shows 20 - 16 so they cheated 4 * 55 . 210 rupees from you alone. so image how much he stole from you these many years. Try to get the fuel in 5 litre can and fill it and home.

No Bro. I really dont think that they would tamper the Machine on purpose. That Petrol Pump is a pretty renowned one and it is very well known to many people here in Pune that it is one of the most trustworthy Pumps here. When he was filling Petrol, at around 13 Litres, we were able to see Petrol at the top of the Tank and then it would go down. So, by stopping and then filling alternately, we filled it right till the top mark. Finally, it took 16 Litres. There was a long Queue that had gathered behind me by the time we were filling Petrol till the Brim. I am sure many must have cursed me due to the long time taken. Even the Pump Attendant was surprised and asked me how big is the GSR's Tank.

            • @ abhi_gsrThat's right did seen similar post early by someoneMoreover our manual says 15 ltr something as approx onlyAs you filed up to the brim please remember the following * always use center stand as side stand may cause fuel to overflow do make sure the parking place is stable and its on even surface * close the fuel knob every time when switching off as due to high capacity fuel in tank the pressure may cause fuel to overflow thru the carb overflow pipe* careful while driving at low speed and during turning as the fuel added almost 15 kg (140kg + 15 kg )weight to the bike

I also had the same experience.
while filling petrol ta petrol pump..
the person filling the petrol was shocked while fillling the petrol cause the tank is huge and it can store near about 20 ltr and more petrol in it...

                cheers.

See the bold letters thats what me too experienced,Here i use to fill in Government owned(pondy co operate society),pump...
As u said it will go up and down for the last 3 to 4 ltr and takes 5 minutes approx...
My SC wanted to do it as i get false reserve, using this method and run the bike for say approx 150 to 200km(may be it take days) then fill again...U get almost ur exact mileage...
Try to go when no crowd is there, as the pump attend loose the cool

Is center stand necessary even the fuel is about the 60-70% mark in the fuel tank ??
Coz i filled 9 litres(+had 3 in reserve) so 12 total and i never put my bike in center stand even once.. Where can the fuel overflow from anyways ??

And regarding the carb overflow pipe, its actually not an overflow pipe i think.. that pipe seems to be for draining the carb when we loosen the drain screw..

                      • Don't worry about the center stand If only you fill it to the brim (20+ Lit) then only petrol will spill out. Otherwise don't worry.

                        • for sure the tank is big i have filled my tank like 13ltrs + 3-4ltrs of Reserve the 13ltrs was just before the fuel hike so till now i have done total of 800kms without hitting the reserve . Yes the tank is big the design itself makes it able to fill large amount of petrol.

But the best way is to at least fill your bike with like Rs400 of petrol because of the evaporation if you fill it once it is always better.

this time going to fill up with about Rs700 petrol. Also shifting to Gulf This week for sure.

                          • @ falcon, All carbs have a drain tube. The Drain tube diverts the extra fuel, in case your carb floods. Imagine if your carb floods on a hot engine

Just go to SVC back or to any local mech and get your swing-arm oiled.........problem over

Suzuki GSR resembles the Hero Honda Karizma every possible way.
                                1.Weight
2.Silent pick-up.......no noise from the 225cc mill as well as from our 150cc mill. Its that silent all over the rev range, even the Unicorn shouts louder than our GSR !!!!! when high revved !!!
                                3.Power mode GSR(TPFC enabled) and 225cc ZMA has similar pick-up too !!!!!
                                4.Both are comfortable tourers !!!
                                5.Dual cable throttle balancer

                                Points dissimilar :
1.Fuel Economy ..........GSR is far more fuel efficient than the 225cc Honda
                                2.lower top speed than a 225cc engine(125kmph for the ZMA)but really close at 119kmph(of GSR) !!!!
3.Sixth gear on the Suzuki, not on the Honda .

all these makes the GSR a smarter 150cc too
