wow!!!Originally posted by MACH50 View Post@Rajesh1136: You are right as far as the names go,but I have a tendency to look and experience beyond just names
CR7HIX- C-hex size 5-8,Resistor-type,7-graded cold type,H-half thread,Iridium Nine(IX)
CPR7HSA-C-hex size 5-8,P-Projected type,Resistor-type,7-graded cold type,H-half thread,Standard special design A.
CR7HSA-C-hex size 5-8,Resistor-type,7-graded cold type,H-half thread,Standard special design A.
So what does it mean................
Iridium plugs are meant for constant ignition and higher temperatures as natural.Standard plugs do not have that character.
The only difference here seems to be the P,the main doubt.
P means projected electrode, this design was developed for Zeus and GSR both, reason being providing a higher temperature during combustion at lower rpms. The projected electrode, delves further(by 1mm only) into the combustion chamber,so that it gets constantly drenched in flame and sparks constantly for providing ample high temperature at lower rpms for torque.
But on Iridium plugs this is not required, iridium sparks are already far more constant and sparks regularly at higher temperatures by default, projected tip on this type of plug is not recommended as engine may overheat. The Iridium spark plug thus keeps the low-end performance of your bike similar to the stock, but where the plug really shines is in high-end and mid-range along with a lifespan longer than the stock plug and with a better fuel efficiency.
P-type spark plugs are not recommended on bikes meant for high performance,at higher temperatures these projected tips gets worn down very fast,so to a person for whom the GSR is an all-rounder,his stock spark plug would end its life soon.Signs of bad spark plug, low pick-up in the whole rev-range,wearing out of the ceramic insulator, too much carbon deposits and broken tip.
Non-projected sparkers are always for high performance machine, they dont have the risk of getting scorched at mid and high end throttle inputs when the temperature is huge in the combustion chamber.
The Iridium advantage.......though non-projected but being plug of higher induction temperature, the low end support from this plug wont vary from the stock plug performance, but at mid and high rev ranges, where the life of spark plug is truly put to test......it passes with flying colors as Iridium plugs melts at uber high temperatures so no tip breaking, being non projected-no ceramic insulator wearing due to high combustion temperature and superb performance and fuel efficiency for constant sparks and better combustion performance.
GS150R and Zeus both were recommended as commuters by the market,so the company followed suite. But in reality GS150R is an all-rounder,so anyone who expects better performance and FE from their bikes can use the CR7HIX without any doubt.
P.S. even with this amount of logic and tech, people may ask- how come I am so convinced?? Then let me answer,I used the Access 125 CR6HIX on my Zeus which uses CPR6HSA stock.......and my Zeus never did complain,no carbon deposits or this or that,I still have the iridium plug and its like brand new.My Zeus which was slightly modded with all these was the fastest accelerating 125cc in my city and most Fuel Efficient too.
There is no possibility of mud getting into the gas-shock chambers,or into the suspension. They are all well covered and are put together very tightly.Muds only on the surface, only needs the wash-off
The only region of concern here is mud scouring the chain,so the chain must be kept oiled during monsoons.
Yes,pressure wash is the only way to reach behind the suspension coils to wash the mud off.
Should be really proud to have knowledgeable persons like u our community
Btw, i am thinking of changing to iridium soon, but regarding the spit fire cables, maybe next time

@MACH50
I just saw the video and i must say, its scary..
Dont know how i'll be able to go beyond 50km/h anymore.
This must be the first time i'm thankful for the bumper to bumper traffic in b'lore(atleast in my daily route)..
No one gets a chance to cross 40-50 so its kinda safe from the major high speed accidents..
(wonder how India could have highest road accident deaths in the world with all the jams everywhere)

My HL bulb is Highbeam 55W halogen, Low Beam is 35 W HID. The custom RR had only wires, not sockets, so it's a cut and join job. it's connected in series to the stock RR. Not sure about the pass switch taking the load of the HID. The ballast has a startup voltage above 20,000 V. The Horn losing it's shrillness is associated with battery drain. Removing the Number plate lamp is enough to fix the issue. The Light from the Stop/Brake Light is enough to illuminate the Number plate.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostLol I dint get the low beam 55W dipper thing......isnt your HID BiXenon with both Upper and Dipper ????
Next,Did the Custom RR had ports to connect the light wire from the magneto inbuilt ???
How did you connect the custom RR to the stock RR ???(in parallel or in series ??)
The Pass switch wont take the load of a 55W dipper, but it can surely take the load from A 35W dipper HiD....aint it ???
Why is the Horn losing some juice ????? isnt your bike DC by now ??? or is the battery not taking the load but it should as I think that the Coil is now charging your battery too through the full wave rectifier, which provides more juice than the AC half wave direct.
An advice though......if you want to save energy but require number plate lighting, shift to LEDs for them.
Cops here dont stop bikes for stop lights or Number plate lights. I'm planning to shift to LED pilots to save some more juice for the battery.

Guys i'm having really really bad luck with engine oils
Its almost like i'm cursed to use only the SC oil and nothing else..
First i tried petronas, found only a 2 year old bottle so left it(i'm considering to go back n buy it now though)
Second i tried agip, but no one seems to have stock of the agip FS anywhere, seems there's some problem with the importer at the moment..
Third i thought i'll settle for shell vsx.. But the people at the shell petrol bunk haven't heard of any vsx oil !! they have shell ultra and vsx 2t, and they're saying there's no vsx 4t oil at all.. :P
I tried at old madras road bunk(b'lore), guess other bunks wont have it too..
Any more suggestions for semi synthetic or FS oil ?? (under 500 preferably, coz i dont ride much and keeping the same oil for 7-8k kms would mean not changing for one and a half years which seems too long.)

Go to the Link 1-800 Just Dial
Select the City and in the Search Area, just Type Gulf or Shell or any other Oil Company and you will get a Drop Down Menu. For Example, after you type in Gulf, select Gulf - Lubricants from the Drop Down List. Optionally, you can also enter any particular Area in Bangalore if needed. Then when you click on GO, you will get a list of Distributors in Bangalore along with their Address and Telephone Number. You can then contact them to check if they have the required Oil in stock.
Check it out. Hope this Helps...

This Sunday i had been to Malshej Ghat with my Wife which is a paradise during the Monsoon. And truly it did turn out to be that way.
I have uploaded some Pics in my Picasa Web Album. Please check the Link below.

Thanks Matthew Syriac....
-that you found the plug issue interesting.
Kiran GSR- your one is a Black Beauty
looks fantastic.
The Falcon......try Motul 3000 4t plus if you are looking for mineral oil,or go for Motul 300V if you might need a synthetic one......I am sure all major metropolitans of Delhi,Mumbai,Kolkata,Chennai,Bangalore,Chandigarh has atleast one Motul store or dealer.Just try to find them and forget your bad innings with engine oil forever.
Felix.ragav.....hmm I dont think its the HID which would be draining the battery for long,it seems to me that the 55/60W halogen is the main nail here

HID with one Halogen and the other HID....dint get itOriginally posted by felix.ragav View Postthe HID bulb has one halogen for 55w and the HID for 35 W.
what kind of HID is it....forgive my knowledge
I thought HIDs all were Bi-Xenons !!! Means Upper and Dipper both HIDs !!!
My battery is the new CA series.......dont know whether its 9Ah or 7Ah,but I think 9Ah may charge slowly but holds higher charge too.
Sure,I urgently require conversion, but I am thinking about the HH Ambition RR unit instead of the custom RR unit,as HH RR unit would have ports for plugging in every wire and I think that would be easier and sophisticated.
Also what if I try to emulate the HH Ambition system to go full DC
........I am just thinking of ways.
I also have a question, since your wiring went this way-
Lighting Coil-Custom RR-stock RR-Battery-Switch-HID system,
I would like to know,
1.how was the lighting coil connected to the customRR....I mean the wire that fed the head and pilot lamps from the magneto via the switches was detached and then connected to the customRR......was it done this way ????
2.CustomRR in Series to Stock RR ??? how was it done ??? by a single wire??
3.Stock RR to battery already had a connection in stock condition.....since the customRR feeds the stock RR a full wave,so it gives a higher charge to the battery....but where were the head lamps and pilot lamps switches connected??? to the stockRR or to the battery directly ???(this part is kinda confusing
,cant get the clear picture,pardon
)
Please clarify,it would help
Maybe I am getting it all wrong
So I need to be clear before conversion !!!

Buddy did you see the bottles properly ??Originally posted by MSN1 View Post@ Falcon Two days back I was feeding my GS at shell mahadevapura seen they have some 20 or 30 VSX 1 ltr cans & helix oil (its after the cable bridge and on the way to ITPL) opposite to HP computer company office Earlier I told you one shop on PM the name is naidu automobiles its in KR puram old madras road just next to axis and HSBC atm try they have it try and let us know
Coz at old madras road too i picked up a bottle and was about to buy it, then i realized it said shell advance vsx 2t.. it didnt have 10w40 or Jaso ma or api sg/sl grades..
So in the end i left it..
(i think the 4t ones have dark blue bottle with silver coloured sticker)
The 2t ones had greenish bottle and sticker had other colours too..
@MACH50:
3000 is mineral and i wanted to try SS or FS..
300v is just too costly and i wont be able to utilize its full value by keeping it for 8k kms..
I had 5100 in mind.. but it seems dealers dont stock the 10w40 and only keep stock of 15w50 grade.. will call the shop and check out soon..
