You can use Xw40 to your bike and it is safe. As far as synthetic oil is concerned, you will find noticeable difference when you change from mineral.

AGIP/Petronas are not even heard in many oil stores. There is one shop I got to know through Rajesh near his locality, he was able to get Petronas from other city.

Should you stay in Chennai and if you require Synthetic, go for Petronas for your bike had that completed atleast 5k on the odo.

If you are getting lot of noise from the engine, I assume either the parts have broken and making noise or something that needs to be treated at Suzuki.

This Synthetic oil is no divine liquid which would cure all possible noises and problems that arise out of engine. Hope you understand this.

Step 1: You will need to report to Suzuki and tell them all the problem and possible for how long have been this issue.
Step 2: Never ever show the vehicle to a small road side mechanic for your immediately fixes.

getting thanks page is not going to solve our problem.....after posting, action is required from them that is where suzuki lacks
If they did then suzuki is NO 1 no doubt.....Having wonderful Bike and lack of support is paining for customer

Anyone help me ,yesterday after service my Sub SC mech adjusted the cam chain for tic tic noise .then i got sound mmmmm like pulsar while giving throttle ......whats abt it? he told he tightned the cam chain little bit ..

                • Guys i finally ended up buying shell advance fast trac (20w40 premium mineral oil), it was the next best thing to semi synthetic and i got bugged of searching for vsx. Cost is 235 bucks..
Anyway i'll change it today and write a review after using it a bit.

For my next change, can i buy motul 5100 15w50 ??
(i'm going to stock up early this time )
I'm assuming the 15 would mean its not too thick when cold.
and 50 would mean it retains better viscocity at 100 degrees and doesnt become like water.
(according to that oil grade chart in our manual, 15w50 seems to cover a wider range of temperatures and do justice by covering the 20w40 range too.. )

UPDATE: got the oil changed.. the shell oil is goldenish in colour compared to the reddish veedol..
And i realized my SC isnt all that lenient to allow any oil too !!
When i went only 2 supervisors were there and the head in charge was upstairs. when i said i have the oil they started saying we wont allow this etc etc..
I Told them to call the head in charge and tell him, then he only came down and said no problem i'll change it and give..

Hey guys 4give me for this long post...but allow me cause I am occasional intruder on this forum
Just had a small 20min job done on the bike a week back and the performance increase is amazing....also relevant as Arun & others might be facing similar issues...

2 weeks back had noticed the tick-tick sound coming bike upon accelerating in high gears at low speeds and sometimes sluggish (dragging) performance with noise ...
There was discussion here abt cam-chain being the culprit...

Had a buddy who works for Ford and also who now seems to know a great deal about bike engineering...

He drove the bike and concluded The Chain is killing the engine ...
So off we went to a roadside but well know mech near sriperimbdur...

What mech did:1. Oiled the chain and readjusted chain slack & tension
                        2. Readjusted clutch lever & sprayed Rustlick
                        3. Readjusted rear brake play

Result: Absolutely 0 noise (tic-tic + any other noise except from exhaust)
                        from the bike...
Acceleration is terrific in power mode with a feel of some non-slip drive between engine & rear wheel...

Gear changes are butter-smooth both upshifts/downshifts

                          ABove was 2weeks back
                          --------------------------

Yesterday we had a team-outing drive from alwarpet-airport(drop buddy onsite)-ambattur-ambur-besant nagar totalling almost 250kms for 6hrs continuous at 90+ mostly ...

                          Bikes present: 2 GS150R, P220 ('10), RTR160 & 180, ZMR, Fazer, Dazzler & Mitsubishi Cedia SPort (RED)...

                          My Observations:
Talk about Castrol not being good and causing engine roughness on long drives was unfounded...
My GS was supersmooth though running at highspeeds for hours by different users...ofcourse it was mid-night trip ...
2nd Red GS had valvoline (as per his SC in Pune...2mts behind 4 service & bike arrived previous day from Pune)...
Engine was vsmooth but had chain noise

                          Infact we exchanged bikes randomly...
ZMA was gr8 to drive and refined...perfect blend
P220/Apaches had plenty of torque & power(RTR180)...but refinement & lazily cruising factor was lacking...P220 broken fairing caused a racket

Fazer has Vgood Feel but engine cruising feel was never felt (felt exhausted) and Dazzler felt terrible...
Seating never felt whole & gearshifts were going to false neutral & clanky

The only bike that felt wholesome were Fazer, ZMA, GS & P220

Our entire team obs (including my Project lead)
GS was best refined in engine & comfort and had the best gearbox & they were highly impressed...called it mini-bullet
                          2. RTR180 was super-mad accelerator (& tiring)
                          3. ZMA felt the best overall

                          Misc:
                          Initial Acceleration (0-60): RTR180>P220>ZMA>RTR160>Fazer>GS>dazzler

                          In-Gear Acceleration (3rd gear+ 60+): P220>RTR180>ZMA>GS>RTR160>Dazzler>Fazer

                          Another important insight:
Had my GS rectifier changed to whatever (RR/AA...ABT SC changed it to latest free of cost on strong insistence)

Light intensity: After P220 & ZMA , GS surprisingly was the brightest with good spread compared to others...There is a comparatively BIG difference in high beam output after rectifier change (without any bulb mods)...

                          The confusing aspect:
                          1. Roughness:
When you try other bikes, what is rough in GS can be comparatively considered smooth in other bikes
Castrol P1 Trizone (249/- oil) kept engine with the same super smoothness & ultra responsiveness throughout rev range (me changed gears at 9500...other) for hrs with different ppl driving

Note: Have changed oil & oil filter at each service (6 times now) and almost 2 mts since last change...service next week for sure

I do think the occasional roughness(if that wats we can call it) in engine may have something More to do with chain/tight clutch than just oil

                          2. Lights:
As mentioned before the lights are pretty good after the change, for a bike of this segment...

                          3. My bike will sometimes never show the 5th gear indication
                          4. Sharp Cornering can be bit intimidating in GS
                          -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Take on GS: A Gr8 solid wholesome bike having some unknown
                          personality disorder (Hey anupdas)
Phew...now to hibernate away from XBHP for 2 weeks
                          Cheerios dearest buddies

PS: xBhp is relatively unknown in my workspace...they love biking & bike tech but xBhp is not known to them

PL's Mitsubishi Cedia engine is a gem ...WW acceleration, torque & handling, Gearbox have to say is the best i have experienced
Wonder why no one is buying it...its was so involving

                              • suzuki is listning and responding to customer feedbacks on website

                                Abdul bhai,
Yes suzuki is responding and reviewing its customers users feedback.

I posted feedback at suzuki website on midnight 11:45 and on next day At 1:30 pm received call from vinod natrajan (suzuki).
Discussed about the RR unit change and engine oil Promised that this time they Would do a through check on the head lamp and indicator lamps loosing power at low speed if required they will upgrade RR to CA series.

Per him its confirmed that suzuki itself recommends castrol oil only.

Told him the barrel to measuring can air contamination story; he agreed to do an inspection.

                                ---------------------

Also learnt that many other bike manufacturers do use the castrol oil as OEM (orginal equipment manufacturer) and sold as their own brand oil
