  • @arun if your bike is new and hasn't done many Kms then it is the knocking sound from the engine. Either the valve needs adjustment or i talked to my local mechanic he told it is a tappet issue. Don't know what problem it is but definitely it is not coming from the chain it is from the engine. The sound can be heard when the engine gets hot you can hear it when bike is idle. I also have the sound but it has reduced a lot after i switched to gulf Pride 4T.

    So next time you go for the service ask the SVC to check the Tappet or Valve best way you can rectify it if it still doesn't get solved get a good local mechanic.


    Edit: guys i paid Rs500 for Teflon coat when i bought the bike i wanted to know how many free teflon coats do you get after you pay for one?

      Hi adi bro same problem for me too but my odo is 12500km,give today for service told mech abt it ,he is silent and tell me try to solve it
      meantime there is another GS newer than me came for service he test drove mine and i did his bike...
      His bike is Gem Damn excellent pickup, and no other noise frm engine,and smooth(8500km on 6month ride) Then he came and told that ur bike have extra noise(cam chain or tappet noise) The pic here is his bike...
      The mech have no knowledge abt cam chain noise....So what they do to solve the problem anyone got idea ....if it tappet noise then he have to adjust valve for which he told don't have necessary tool(stone age)...
      The big draw back is NO other SC here for another 140KM......
      Putting gulf 4t solve only engine roughness and gear shift and engine is smooth with extra tic tic noise

      • Sorry if any interesting discussion going on.

        Small update from my side. i switched to fuly synth AGIP when my ODO read 6250 now its almost 7500.

        Initially my engine is smooth but had some other issue like chain tight and clutch ply setting. My mech solved it.

        Day by day my bike is super smooth with almost no sound from engine. Im very happy. To clear the mineral deposits will soon change the oil.

        7500 in 4 months.
        Rides: HH SPl (2000-2005) | TVS Vic GLX (2005-2010) | S GS150 R (Current)

        Gears: Scoyco JK -17 | Cramster Twister | Cramster Bionics | Vega Boolean

        • Got another accident

          yesterday by night i was coming from nagore(tamilnadu ) to my town karaikal which is 10km from there and ride at 45km speed.....In front of me a Tata ace going, in my back a new pulsar guy follow me and try to overtake me in left side, there is no way, so while he is try to overtake in right side ,the tata ace is braked hard me too braked hard,the guy who try to overtake hit me in the back in the saree guard...due to this i lost balance and fell down with bike ....
          But nothing happen to me ,before i look my bike i asked him why u tail gate me and here there is no bumper to bumper traffic.....That idiot guy may be new to bike ridding replied me "its ur mistake that putting brake",
          after seeing people gathering near this spot he ran away
          I have no time to catch him ....it was a dark place so can't examine the bike ...When i come home and check .....there is some paint gone near left indicator,scratches in crab rail and bend in saree guard....
          I know the paint part is solved by putting some black stickers on both side like rajesh116 do...
          even if we drive sensible idiots like this spoil our mood that day.....

            BTW some _ss_oles do overtake from the extreme left side... Dumb sick fellows. Once when an auto fellow tried to overtake from left side (extreme left), i stopped him at the next signal and gave him nicely.. After all that blasting in tamil, that idiot knew only hindi

              he rajesh what is the grade ? and price? I heard that the AGIP is name changed from pennzoil which my PULSAR SC used in my bike before(old pulsar)...
              where u bought in chennai , I am going family tour to mysore then stay chjennai for 3 days, so i can purchase and go
              I will stay in EGMORE so GP road is near ....
              U put 1litre or 1.1ltr...

                Thanks mathew, i ride car in chennai as well bike ,so left sidfe overtake is almost all do agree due to traffic and small road...
                But the place happen is a small bridge in big road but little traffic...

                  I too get a tuck tuck sound when i move from 1st gear to 2nd at lower rpm. Can any one explain why does it happen and can the SC guys solve the problem.

                          • Okk For sure i can't tell what the issue is but when i changed my engine oil from local mechanic i told him getting a tuck tuck sound when engine is hot. He was quick to respond told that Tappet needs adjustment. I doubt if it is Cam chain but he told if you have the warranty tell the SVC next time around to adjust the tappet noise. The local mechanic is good since i know him for long time if Suzuki guys don't rectify it i will try another SVC if then also no solution i will ask my local mech to do it.

                            Edit: Also the suzuki website is not working for past 2months,so we can't complaint

                              Do u get a jerk along with the sound????
                              If ur idle RPM is low, u r likely to face this issue.
                              Set the RPM to 1.5k and then see..
