    • ^ will do man! I see we GS riders are mostly like the ninjas (not the bike) We are silent yet deadly :P .. We need more activity like mods here man. We have the same set of questions for the bike goin on around. We need a change.. thats why i wanted to put HID man. I've had it with poor 35 w headlights and those annoying Highbeam riders... time to pay back

It cannot be decided without taking the heat shield or the cover off
But even that heat shield cum exhaust cover is different.

Mine is MF battery (Exide freedom) i never faced any issues like low batt and all its very fine but only thing is no power in light.

its not adequate to light half of the street

Why is the battery different for everyone. I thought only new GS comes with 7 Ah battery. Anyway 9Ah is better to 7Ah rite. Or since full charging requires more time in 9Ah, is 7Ah more superior to charging discharging cycles? Any idea.

                • ^ it all depends on the rr unit bro. If its set to charge the battery at 5amps /hr, the 7 ah will charge faster, but loads on the battery increases. the rr unit wil take a much longer time to charge the 9ah battery, but the load on the battery can be more.

btw: anyone found a way to diengage electric start once the engine is running? AFAIk, the Unicorn, Activa and DIO have a system such that the self start motor become disengages once the engine is running?

many times i pressed electric start thinking its horn but it will not make any diff. i think GSR motor also dis engaged after start up ? Im not sure though

                    • Electric start on our GS150R is always disengaged then the moment the clutch is engaged. In order to get the electric start working we know we have to fully disengage the clutch first.
Our electric start works in any gear,if we disengage the clutch fully.
Try this, ride your bikes to 40kmph speeds, pull in the clutch and kill the engine with the engine kill switch, then put it on again and press the electric starter with the clutch pulled in.The bike will start on move in the same gear your riding in.

It was discussed to the very end!!! the changes in 2010 GS.
Actually its "Lance" which means spear in Latin rite.

Ah(ampere-hour), Its unit of how long a battery can supply a current of 1A to a load. So 9Ah can provide same current for more time than 7Ah(Note its only time, but not load). It also seems that there is a change in battery size which makes 7Ah more compact. And also the load on both battery can be same but one will die out faster than other.

In every bike self motor will disengage after a specific time when we take our hand of the self starter switch, isnt it? Since our GS needs to press clutch for motor to turn on, so even if we press the motor switch while running it wont start, very ingenious idea.

                          Actually it called Lanza only.

Bro.. very good info. So if i can fit 9ah in my bike . it should not be issue right ?
but as raghav said if my rr unit designed to charge 7ah.. it will take much more time to fully charge the 9ah then 7ah. There should not be any side effects.

                          • @MACH50

i tried the adjustment again. tell me if its ok or not..
I set the initial rpm to about 1400, then turned the screw fully clockwise(2.5 turns).. the rpm reduced to 800-1000.

Then a started turning anti clockwise, at 2 turns i got 1300, after that it started reducing again.. at 4 the engine stalled and turned off. so i've set it at 2 right now.

I made a graph of the idling rpm vs number of turns

But the bike rpm doesnt seem to vary much at all with the fuel screw.. is it same in all GS's ???
                            (i have the mikuni carb)

thats right the head light of indian bikes barring pulsar 220 is pathetic as they use 35 watts bulb. Only way to improve the light is to convert the bike to full dc. Then we can use a 55/60 watts to its full intensity or use a hid. But for that lot of modifications needs to be done. @felix.ragav, I thought you bought normal socket leds. There is a site DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Site-Wide Free Shipping (Page 1) which you may find very good. Check it out. The coil on our bike is single phase. Did you find someone who can rewind the coil? Raj

                              • No need to touch the coils bro. Lose the pilots and the numberplate lamp, and you save 15w. Now change those 35/35 to 55/60. Only dis advantage is that youll have to rev slightly higher to get a decent High beam output...
