Using a a non-recommended oil might void the warranty, should you need it. Think about it.

Thanks bro, I stick to my 15w 40 castrol power1 only, since the mech told me that 10w 30 for access and zeus, and also it is written motor oil recommended for maruti suzuki, its purely for car and scooter access only... the SC owner after seeing my castrol power 1 he want to change my mind for wrong oil

Well, for detailed information on Engine Oils, I would strongly recommend you to visit the engine oil thread.

However, a quick information, despite the fact that most of the modern day cars and bikes are 4 stroke engine, one should however not use just about any oil not made for them. So as to say, put the car oil in car and bike oil in bike. The reason being that the car oil's aim is to cool and lubricate the engine, crankshaft, valves, rockers etc, but does not run in the transmission box . However, in a bike, the engine oil lubricates and cools the chamber, lubricates the valves etc, lubricates the gears too and is still rough enough to maintain the friction of the clutchplates. I hope it makes sense. Putting a car oil in bike would mean that it is good enough for the rest of the parts except the clutch plates where in it would be decreasing even the desired friction.

      all cheers

      • Enjoying GS

1200 KM on the odo. Bike is as good as always.
Touched 75KMPH today, no vibration in the handle bars, was really excellent.
I can feel vibrations on the handle bar in my brothers Unicorn after 60KMPH.

Mileage, after first service is 54KMPL, checked from R to R, for 4 litres of petrol.
Had adjusted the Suspension (it was too hard earlier) now its fine.

After the first service, the noise at RPM > 4K in the 2nd gear is a bit on the higher side (Not too loud though, but louder than earlier). Asked the SC guys about it, they told to wait till 3rd service is completed and till the engine is well set. It is not really an issue though.

Riding comfort is top notch. Hope it stays the same.

Quit tabulating grudges. Let it off. Discuss it, then trash it, don't recycle it.

While under warranty it is their duty to see to it that the bike delivers at least a performance as best as any other GS150R. So when we have here right in xBhp, (including me) who get a better mileage than you, you can demand them to do it. If it doesnt work politely, be a little harsh. Take someone with you who can talk it out well (like I do sometimes) if you are not very good with it.

Come on man.... were't you the one who felt like having sex with the bike.. Its just about tuning and probably bad engine oil. I can bet the 2010 batch has almost all major issues rectified. I'm almost 100kilos and I dont feel the bike lacks power to lug me around the city even in traffic. Just make sure you dont upshift before 4000 RPM.

            I Agree with u mate
But the Service manager is too responsible and friendly guy out there...
I was given a standby bike too... Next time i'll put stress a bit as u said...

somewhere in this thread i read about malfunction of R to R knob....
So i request u to check only once tank full then run for 150km or 200 km then fill again and check, but make sure ur tank full bcos it takes lot of time to fill last 2 ltr takes 2 to 3 minute to fill( bcos of hidden area's inside tank)
share ur exp ,after u do, IF u do
just given for 5th paid service at 8500km
Ps----- I don't face any power lag problem
but have choking problem if i drive more than 4.5k rpm
Tried almost all kind of measuring methods no luck only lack(in power m mileage of-course)..
I don't understand why all GSs are different

Well, my bike started its usual going to reserve every 10km again.. i'll go to the SC on saturday and show them..

Have you tried checking mileage with that measuring jar ??

U mean to say Mileage Can????
Yes of-course, 3 times... The SC guys should have done it at-least a dozen times

If the bike is ridden in no traffic area continuously in 6th gear, it returned some what 49 kmpl, in traffic only max 42

Now more than mileage the power is bothering me a lot....
It is below ok usually, becomes worse to worst at times...
As is said different riding experience each time...
Even i maintain the air pressure in tyre properly

One more issue, the bike is a bit wobbly at times at not really confident handling it....
Last time they said the fork was tight..

Previously i had some time to visit SC, now business is tight and finding it very difficult to manage

Since the bike is showing multiple personalities (Like Anniyan) the SC guys tell its fine at the time it performs...

Hope someone realizes the my problem

                  • Back after a long time..been so frustrated wtih the bike that never felt like pouring my heart out...here goes and any help will be appreciated.

Used to give 50-52 around the 1st service. Just completed the 4th service at 7500 and since the past 3 services, my problems are just compounding..i usually fill 10 litres of fuel and the reserve used to kick in around 270 and then finally empty around 450..i thought 45 is decent but then one day my bike stopped in the middle of the road at 425. Mind you i fill from the same 2 fuel stations for the past 7 years now for my first bike, car and now this biike. Took it to the service station a couple of months ago during 3rd service and they confidently told me they had re tuned the bike and nothing would happen but this continues to this day. i think the bike only about manages 38-40. I dont any of the economy power modes as the white light flashing irritates me. I mostly ride around 60-70 so and 70% clear stretches so no frequent braking etc. I refuse to believe the bike will only give that much. used to do the same distance and speed on the pulsar 150dtsi for 4 years and never had a problem ever. (first bike is first bike man!!).

And then one day the clutch wire snapped so pushed it to a local garage who changed it for 30 bucks....2 months later that clutch wire snapped too so repeated the local garage thingy.

Took it to the service centre last sunday and gave him a mouthful. They usually dont react at all. Either they are not interested or they dont knwo what the problem is. He said something to the effect of putting the bike on the machine and tuning it !! whatever..im waiting to see how much it improves..also there is a squeaking sound from the front tyre which they ve tried to fix using all kinds of grease and lubricants but it wont go !!

I wisih i could return this bike now. The only good thing about it is the riding position. My bum used to pain on the pulsar and it doesnt on this bike (im 6 feet 2 inches tall)

Any suggestions on how to increase the mileage?

                    Thanks
                    Vijay

                        ^^^^
We got a new company in the list.....
Think we should claim a 2010 model, which i used to believe that its problem free... But now someone is facing issues with that alos

                        Suzuki should do something....
I don't mind paying a little amount, as time is more precious that money..
wasted enough of time tuning.... tuning.... tuning.... tuning.... tuning.... tuning.... tuning.......
                        No use at all...
The bike becomes rough n noisy the next day itself
                        FAIL!!!!!!!!

                          • Surprising to see GSs having so many problems. I have a GS, so do 2 of my friends. Everyone's is trouble free so far, with good mileage (above 50). Wish all the owners a problem free ride!
