    What I liked in GS150R
    • Superb instrument console.
    • Excellent ride quality, very plush and it absorbs even bigger uneven bumps.
    • Good overall finish. Comfortable riding position.
    • Good power from 40-70.
    • Mature handling and stability.
    What I did not like:
    • Very bland styling from side.
    • The worst looking grabrail.
    • Normal low end pickup (expected)
    • Weight of 149 kgs.
    • Valve clutter noise(???)
    • Saw some rust at the footrests.
Still I see a member reporting tank rust (top in this page) and it is really a big concern.

BTW, how much mileage can be expected at 80-85 kmph on highway in top gear??
Well to address some of your points..............
looks were never the positives of this bike, but still I'd say the front with wolf eyed head lamp is one of the best and very aggressive looking. Low end pick up is there, so if you will atleast read the review if not all of the pages.....you would see I mentioned that the bike is not for 0-60 dashes.....but excels in midrange pickup and so 50-60 to 90 is a breeze....
Weight I am not concerned untill the bike has the right power and torque to handle, in which case you dont feel the heaviness too much. Also it is more of a matter of getting used to it rather then the weight actually giving any problem.
Coming to valve clutter noise, now this should not happen, but u sure that was valve clutter noise....I have not read anyone here complaining about the same.........did you try riding another demo bike, try that or try from a different showroom, if they have only one bike for demo. My sales man went even further to allow me the ride the fresh piece to decide which one I want.........anyway try another bike and report.....

Sammy, thanks much for your inputs. Regarding the looks, I only commented about the side profile and I agree with you reagarding the head and tail of the bike, they look better.

Regarding the weight, I rode a Karizma for three years . When you ride, you will not feel the weight, but I did not expect the bike to be 149 kgs just with 150cc engine. In city, definitely, a Hunk scores better in handling with shorter wheelbase and a little lesser weight.

The bike I test rode was definitely producing valve clatter. May be it is abused a lot. And yes, I will take test ride from another dealer.

In fact, I am looking for a city commuter (light weight) that can do occasional highway commuting. Was thinking of Stunner, but thought to give a look at GS150R, because of its 6th gear.

Any idea what is the FE at 85 cruise speeds?

        Hey,
I have valve clutter noise too...(if thats what its called)
been having it right from first service..
I have mentioned it before also but i only said that engine sounds rougher when hot.. (its like a tak tak sound, i can feel it more than hearing actually)
The service people keep saying valve timing/tappet adjustment will fix it..
        But it never goes

And it starts occuring only when the engine gets heated up..
I guess others have experienced this too..

Do u notice any difference in your bike while riding in the morning and after 10km ??
like sound increasing or vibrations or roughness ???

        • thefalcon, the problem with your bike is tappet noise. It comes particularly whe the engine is hot. Please rectify it.

Could you explain what has to be done to rectify this problem ??
Because the service centre isnt doing it.. complained twice about it so far.

              • @thefalcon: He needs to check the valve clearances&adjust with a feeler gauge. Not a tough thing for these bikes, it hardly takes 10 mins.
Also get the cam chain adjusted, most of the times that is the real culprit for the clutter.

@ravi@17bhp: That is a great choice Anna! My Dad was also convincing me to sell off both my bikes&buy the GS. I also love the GS-reminds me of my Fiero F2&seems like its new avatar with everything I desired in it, but I cannot bring myself to part with the R15 for anything else.

                  (He asked about bluish bulbs)

I found this on the net. I thought its worth sharing...

"How and why are blue bulbs dangerous?
Many of them degrade roadway safety,” both yours and other drivers'.
Some of them can be physically hazardous. Here are the nuts and
bolts of why blue bulbs are a bad idea:

White light is made up of every color of light mixed together. But the
colors are not all present in equal amounts. The output spectrum of
filament bulbs, including halogen headlamp bulbs, includes a great deal
of red, orange, yellow and green light, but very little blue or violet
light. Blue bulbs have colored glass (or a filter coating applied to clear
glass) that allows only the blue light through the filter — this is why
the bulbs appear blue. Because very little blue light is produced by a
halogen bulb in the first place, it is only this very small amount — a
tiny fraction of the total amount of light produced by a halogen bulb
filament — that ever reaches the road.

Blue and violet are the shortest wavelength/highest frequency colors of
visible light, and, as such, they scatter the most readily. This is why
the sky is blue rather than any other color from the sun's white output
spectrum. Blue light doesn't just scatter most readily in the sky, but
also in the eye. To observe this effect, try this informal experiment:
Next time you see a dark blue storefront sign or a row of blue airport
runway landing lights after dark, notice how blurry the edges of the
sign or landing light appears compared to adjacent lights or signs of
different colors. Decades ago, hot rodders would install "blue dots" in
their cars' taillamps. These small bits of blue glass cause the taillamps
to appear not red with a blue dot in the center, but rather
pinkish-purple, because the observer's eye easily focuses on the red
but has trouble with the blue, which remains out of focus and appears
to tint the entire area of the red light.
                  "
                  thanx noted bro

I dont want to sound pushing you for this bike, but believe me or people from the fourms for that matter, weight for this bike is not an hinderence in any city traffic. Hunk "might" feel better as you must have ridden hunk more in traffic, but the fact is GS has better torque than hunk and so technically is better for city conditions. Weelbhase is almost same for both. GS has 15mm more wheelbase. Yes bike over all dimentions are more than hunk but as I said it has the right power and torque to handle. Trust me it does absolutely fine in heavy traffic. You just need to get to use to it.

About FE at 85, is it the Fuel Economy you are refering here, then again as i said, at no point for me (and I am a pretty aggressive driver) did the milage go less then 50kmpl, which is very very commendable for a 150cc bike. I am loving the fuel economy the bike is giving.

If you do decide to go for a bike other than GS I would recomend Unicorn, infact most of us would do.

                      +1 to that..
you can hardly feel the weight of the bike while riding.
and going zig zag thru traffic is a breeze too..

If you're buying hunk, i hope you are aware that it gives around 45 mileage even if ridden carefully. (my friend has one, he rides at 4000rpm n gets 45)

IMO, unicorn is pretty outdated.. they just launched the new cb-unicorn with just one change, a viscous air filter.!!!

@Sarvajit: thanks buddy, i'll go to the service centre and check it out ASAP.

for those whose bikes engine sound is changing when it bcomes hot

                        Finally a solution for that...

Finally, we got a call from service centre and told us that there is a problem with its Piston and Bore. And they'll replace it with new Piston and Bore which comes in new GS 150R.
After the work, we got the bike today. Have to check the bike after the run in period is over.
All of the guys having this problem go to Service centre and tell them that bike with these problems are given new pistons..

Suzuki is changing the piston and engine block of some vehicles. But it is not for the engine sound changing when it bcomes hot. It is because of some other complications (which I'm not aware of)that leads to a continous hammering sound when the engine is run. This is noticable as soon as the engine is started. But as far as I know, this is a very rare issue and is found only in the batches prior to Nov-2009.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.
