since your bike is new, stick to mineral oils upto 4-5k kms.Originally posted by sanjukoli12 View PostMy bike has completed just 1500 km, so which oil can i go for. Also what is this Semi synthetic and synthetic stuff.I did not get it.
u can try the shell advance 20w40 oil (cost is about 200)
i've been using that only.
I found it to be much better than service centre oil.. gear shift is much smoother.
i'm not too sure about the difference between semi synthetic and synthetic..
guess semi syn. reduces friction bit better than mineral
and synthetic causes least friction with better heat dissipation and other stuff..
And after 4-5k u could switch to semi synthetic once and then full synthetic..
I've not tried these yet since my bike has done about 3.5k odo.
But mineral oils arent meant for gs150. engine gets hotter and rougher with it.
In motul i guess 3000/3100 are mineral oil.
5100 is semi syn.
300v is full syn.

Shaking Problem of GS console
Hi guys,
Those of you who are annoyed with the shaking of the digital console while on rough roads can try this. Get a thin piece of foam material (the foam type inner sole used in a shoe would be great) and fold it into two (cut it to the required shape) and try to stick it in the gap between the digital console and the plastic that holds the ignition key hole. Make sure it is a tight fit and voila!!! ur problem is solved.. I have tried it with success
.
Happy riding guys.......::<<Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly>>::.

Gave the bike for my first service today, 790 Km on the odo.
They will be replacing my fuel tank. Headlight, brake and rear suspension all need some adjusments. No other complaints/issues.
I tested my mileage thrice,
first, 4 litres - got 51 KMPL mileage
second, 4 litres - got 48 KMPL mileage
third, 2 litres - got 60 KMPL mileage
All in all a really good bike, very happy with it.
I got to appreciate the people at Jains Suzuki, Chennai. Was very polite and patiently asked about the issues, they even sent one of the service guys to drop me at the bus stop, as I was getting late to my office

Any suggestions guys ?Originally posted by Joey View PostGuys, how to clean that black part in the silencer ?
I don't think we can use water on it. But wiping with cloth doesn't clean it well, either.
What material is that one ?

Dear Joey, I would request you to please be a bit less skeptical about the bike. Free service means that the cost of labour would not be charged, but you will have to pay for the consumables.Originally posted by Joey View PostThey charge me Rs.225 for my free service. In free services they will charge only for Oil, right ? Is this the correct price for oil?
Did you get a receipt for the amount you rendered? If yes then please see, there would be the charge for the Oil Filter( around 35 Rs.) too. So, Engine Oil + Oil filter should be = the amount you paid. Fair Enough???
Also, it is good to see one's thread posts count growing bigger each day, but let's refrain from posting something that is lame enough. A query like yours, ideally does not do justice to the thread or to the forum either.
All Cheers

@dcs: Thanks for your reply mate.
I am not skeptical about the bike.
I am yet to take my bike back from service, I got a call from the showroom informing me that the bike is ready and the bill is 225.
I know in free service only the service is free.
I just wanted to confirm if the oil price is 225, as its been 3 years since I last owned a bike (The oil price back then was around ~120).
And whats my query got to do with my post count?
Do they give something if the post count is more or what?Quit tabulating grudges. Let it off. Discuss it, then trash it, don't recycle it.

+1. Joey, pls edit your previous post if no one has posted any new reply, and append the addition to it. The Rs.225 charge if includes oil filter is right.
That black part in the silencer will not shine or anything. You can use some 3M stuff to make it clean, but I recommed you to just wash it by water/cloth and leave it alone
Because it will get dirty real soon!

I think no question is lame. This forum should be able to help all gs owners regarding any issues or questions related to the bike. To an experienced biker some questions may sound stupid but a new biker may not have a clue. @joey, I know you are not a new biker. I am just generalising my point of view. I am grateful to this forum for letting me choose this wonderful bike. So guys enjoy your association with this bike. Cheers. Raj.

my first service charge was something like this
oil 225 (for 1.1 litres)
filter 35(or may be 60) not sure
consumables 28
battery maintenance 15.

Reg Post: I will certainly keep that in mind.
Got the bike from first service.
Headlight beam is good now.
Rear brake is more ineffective now.
Will have to adjust.
Gears have become very very smooth.
The idle RPM during initial start is ok (around 1.5K).
But after riding the bike for sometime the idle RPM has increased now. It oscilates between 2K to 3K. It was not the case earlier, it didn't oscillate this much.
New petrol tank hasn't come yet.
They apologised continuously for that , it was kinda embarrasing actually.
Told it will take another 2 days.
The bike as usual is good.
@basumataryraj: Thanks buddy.
@thefalcon: They changed only the oil for me, so just 225.

@Joey
So the critical service is over. For mine they charged Rs. 230/- ( Oil + Filter). Idling rpm on cold start should be around 1000 - 1100 and after a few minutes ride it become 1400-1500. 1.5K on cold start is more than required, refer manual and set it to 1.1 K range
. Make sure that choke is fully closed.
