  • Hi Guys..

Looks like there are many people interested on the meet. Can we plan it for 24 July, which is a Sunday. Please let me know a central place for all. We can basically compare our bikes and have a small meeting about how things can be modified changed for better performance. A couple of hours should be good. So after that those who are interested can do the ride to Nandi Hills. Strictly NO RACING!!..

If all are ok with the date. Lets decide a time and go for this.

    Godspeed!!

Yes they disconnected the petrol line from the tank(by turning the petrol Knob to off position and disconnected the tube from petrol tank), then we dried the carburetor by running some distance, then only 100ml of fuel from test CAN was supplied and i took that image when the test was over.

I am sorry i dont know how to explain you exactly that you can believe, May be someone can Help me to answer your question

            @ALL

            • Completed only 100kms on my new GS which is 12 days old.
              i haven't crossed 45 KM/H and 4.5K . there r few problems now like

              1) I m doing only few km s every day since my coll is off on vacation. everyday i have starting trouble . i m using choke and using kicker to save the stating motor. as soon as start and leave it in idling the RPM is less than 1.5K but after 2 to 3 kms of ride the rpm is over 2k in idling with a huge engine sound and the oil sump and other outside parts of engine are very very hot such that it burns the skin(in 3kms). I have not checked the millege yet . I m afraid my millege would be very less

              2) There is an irritating sound from the disc break which s increasing day by day .

              3) does all ur GS have a gap between seat and frame at the back part of the bike. actuall during last weeks rain in B'lore water entered trough tat gap and drenched my DOCs and electrical wiring of the tail lights. now secured tat wit a cloth

does any of it requires immediate attention of the SVC???

Inspite of all tat i m simply loving al the attention i m getting on the road . as an engg student i m able to appreciate work which has gone on to the bike especially the 2 wire throttle valve.

Both of your bikes Idle RPM is high.

Check the manual to see how the Idle RPM can be reduced. the proper range would be 1100 when cold and 1300-1500 when hot. once this is fixed the sounds and heating should reduce a bit.

if not sure then go to SVC. both bikes are new and they should fix all problems with no charge.

i have already said in prev post what to do about the high RPM issue. also check if the choke is on by mistake, that too leads to high RPM.

the sound from disc brake is common i think. usually happens when dust get settled in the disc pad. My bike has same problem. No amount of cleaning helps. even the SVC removed the Disc brake and air blew it. that stops noise for a couple of days and then its back again.

i have not noticed any big gap. the seat covers the gap i think. will check and tell you..

if you have any doubts approach the SVC asap. they have to solve all your queries no matter how small.

                      • @ msb and newfan,

Seems the idle setting is not correct.

On cold start (early morning idle should be ranging 1000 rpm to 1200 rpm.

On hot temperature it should be below 1600 rpm.

We call the break disk noise as squeek squeek sound, this is normal with all bikes with disk breaks

It will occur esspecially during rainy season.

A 20 or 30 minutes stay at svc will give a fix yeah u can get this stuffs fixed by a good local mechanic too.

@ manubhat, and all bangy gang 17th is fine for me.....

Am using one trip meter for servicing / oil change kms and other one for mileage calculation.

But my main concern s the overheating engine after a few kms ride.
since i read somewhere tat over heating of engine parts s biggest enemy during run in period.

pl do check up the gap b/w the seat.

would take the bike to svc soon

                              Overheating engine:

New bike tend to produce more heat as parts are still matting this will happen till it gets settled down (run-in)

Moreover even now after riding 5 kms if I touch the engine I will feel like touching the hot kadai (dosa pan)

Meanwhile why don't you just check the engine oil level.

Even after that if you feel its sound, engine response and temperature is not satisifactory then change engine oil (no not motul at this point of time) try elf or valvoline or gulf

Even that too doesn't works don't leave the svc till you feel happy

check the power cable to the spark plug and replace the ignition coil assembly if needed. This will solve the problem.

every parts will be replaced free of cost as your bike’s warranty period is not over.
i had to shell out for the sprak plug cap it is not under warranty, i was informed so if yes it is please tell me where it is mentioned in the manual or anywhere else ,

THE BIKE SPARK PLUG WAS CHANGED IT WAS SHORT BECAUSE OF WATER ! I WAS TOLD SO & VISHNU IS IT OK IF WE FIX SPARK PLUG OF ACCESS OR SLINGSHOT HOW CAN BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE GS ? TILL NOW BIKE IS GREAT WILL BE GREAT AHEAD TOO I JUST LOVE MY BABE !
