  • @MSN - Sorry for the very late reply bro... I am still using the 15W50 oil that I mentioned about even after 2500 Kms.. The oil level is low and I have to change it at the earliest. This has been more or less like 20W40 only... I would say better... May be if one very much technically sound, he be able to differentiate.

@Mach - Bro how is your bike after the mods.... Read a post sometime back sayin that you touched 11.5k RPM ... Was'nt your engine screaming ?

@All - I might leave for the US next weekend.... really feeling bad that I'll miss my GS.... I'll also miss Besant Nagar very much My bike has done 22.8K kms on the odo... am planning to give it to my Brother in law till I come back may be after a year... [earlier my dad had plans of selling it] Thanks to my dear Athaan [Bro-In-Law in tamil].

As of now my bike needs seriously a service.... The chains are not in a good condition. The sounds have become very audible and I could feel the vibrations caused due to the chain. I really don't know whats wrong with the chain.... There is a new service center started @ Adyar so thinking of trying this one.... Anybody has any good/Bad experiences with this one ? Please update.

What an ugly intolerance! Noticed now that my opinion about K&N filter (posting No. 11585, page 1159) was as a reply to none but vivek_k_p. He seems to be not offended at all.

This is a Message received from a friend:

So here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every liter.

ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKKIE IN THE
EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your liter is not exactly a liter.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role. A
1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps..

WHEN YOU'RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE
TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE. If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created, while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor.
Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP
WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL. The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated, so that every liter is actually the exact amount.

ANOTHER REMINDER, IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK
PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY, DO NOT FILL UP - most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope, this will help you get the maximum value for your
              Money.

My bike has changed drastically after the mods............save the refinement and smoothness which is still there(infact amplified )

The forced aspiration makes a grunty intake noice, a noise one can identify when a Pulsar 220F or the R15 screams, only heavier.
But the most shocking thing that is all in the mid-range to 7000rpms that one gets to here the sound..............but after that even past 10K rpms, the bike just cruises without effort.

No like stock bikes, it do not scream or wants to call it enough while moving to redline.Near the redline, it is like floating a boat on a water current without any rowing. It is vibration-less and it is without sound....just the characteristic quiet snarl. There is no sensation of pulling it through high rpms but a sensation of being carried or pushed through those rpms.

Though,I now wish that my bike was an Fi equipped vehicle.
Despite the TPS on the GS150R, the response on WOT of my Supercharger equipped vehicle is relatively lazy.

Having said that, in comparison to the stock GS150R, my bike would be a rocket. But in comparison to vehicles which sports drastic top end performance......it is a bit lazy. The reason being only and only fueling.

If I suddenly crack open the throttle, the rpms rises very fast but the engine develops massive lag before coming to howling power.Fueling is the culprit.
The Kompressor is introducing solid positive air-burst pressure into the chamber, but due to late fueling from the stock carburetor, it is running very lean during the accleration. This again shows once the vehicle is past 8K rpms. The engine seems to be running lean.Hence it cruises through the high rpms, whereas it should have rocketed through it.

All this despite the fact that GS150R comes with the latest version of BS26 and main-jet that is used on stock Pulsar200 .

That is why Superchargers works best on Fi vehicles, on Carbureted systems it does boost but to fully exploit it,fueling system needs mods too.

As , a remedy my friend and myself are trying to think of using the TPFC system of classic CBZ on our bike. The carburetor of classic CBZ powered a 150cc engine but had TPFC which is in fact beautiful fuel management system of drawing more fuel when needed. We would rejet it up.........then see the results.

Till then it is already a boosted machine, which is being noticed in my city.

                • Sorry for late reply , my net was down for last few days ...
Vishnu'jee , your chain looks quite clean and well greased . Not unlikely it should last you 20k kms further . But I think I do see a little uneven wear on the sprockets teeth . You'd do well to clean it and re-oil it once atleast now . My chain gets clogged with dry sand and dust in just 5k kms .. so the difference may be in our riding conditions . So I do clean and re-oil in 2000kms as well as grease it during monsoon . More than chain wear , with an unclean and unlubricated chain you stand to lose upto 20% power of the engine in the chain drive system itself .

During run-in , the engine is supposed to be run under varying load .. so that the piston rings seat well by wearing out the crosshatch milling pattern (factory made) on on the internal cylinder wall . The window of time (kms) for this to happen is actually very narrow @ about 100-300kms . If you idle it new like that (i.e run it without any load) the cylinder walls will certainly(100%) become glazed i.e defective by improper run-in . Also the transmission (idle) and other important parts like valves etc won't be seated properly . Then , the only way to correct it would be start over with a new cylinder , pistons and parts . Don't try it .

Make sure you find the cow's owner, and get a month's supply of milk free as compensation!

Sorry for your loss, brother. But these are the situations you have to laugh at, not get upset from. Just thank God it wasn't an elephant trying to ease a scratch! This must be one of the weirdest of all incidents.

                      • Hello Friends,
Today i re-tuned the Carb. with the help of SVC guys
After that i made a fuel test using CAN method which is filled with 100ml of fuel,
test results about 64kmpl with all gears engaged

Below, i have attached the images also.

Note: previously my GS mileage was 62kmpl but now i think its improved(because of re-tune) even just 583 of ODO clocked.

And one more update, today i have changed the Oil and Oil filter.

Cost of each mirror is Rs. 130/- and of each indicator Rs. 280/-. The crash guard costs Rs. 360/- but a paint touchup may be enough. The rear panel and headlight fairing is costlier.

If you plan to replace all these parts, try to get an insurance claim with the help of the dealer.

You may be more correct and thanks for the suggestion. I said nothing against cleaning the chain but think it is not essential as lubricating it. But, I have decided to clean it tomorrow itself as you said.

This is the rear sprocket of my bike.
