May i have a question for you?
    if yes,
Did you check somewhere about the charging Theory for Lead-Acid battery.

because i read somewhere that, The applied charging current for a Lead Acid battery is 40-50% of its total capacity with varying voltage of 2.2-2.45V per cell.

And Sorry if i am wrong

        • hello pal

Its been 8 months since I purchased this monster... after all the ups and down I am happy with it.

Performance wise its very good. Mileage I am getting around 53 kmpl.

Now days i am experiencing one thing that whenever i sit on my bike to move, i smell the odor of petrol. Is it normal to other riders too because of extreme heat here in Rajasthan or there is something wrong with the lid of the fuel tank.

          • GS150R Maintenance

            Hello Everyone,

I have been silent watcher of this forum, as finally I am buying GS150R - value for Money.

But when I made my decision, many of people told me that dont go for this bike try some other common companies like Hero Honda, Honda etc. as the spare parts for this bike is rare (not available in common market also not easily), it is only available with the service center and also its too costly. So ultimately Maintenance cost increases.

            Is it true?

            Please guide me.

            Thanks in advance.

              Hello mysti...
you have taken a right decision...Suzuki is in no way inferior to Hero honda or Honda. and don't worry about spares, they are easily available in service centres, yes in open market its not available, but in a way you are doing away with duplicate spares. and suzuki GSr maintainance is so easy and not costly. i am having this bike from 10 months.. very good mileage, comfortable riding..total package...
              all the best...
              ride suzuki...ride world class

But what is the concern of the question and why is it for me only ??????

I have not checked any theory of charging lead-acid battery recently.

The question is for you because, you said after rewinding your coil charging current is about 9A.
My point is that when you give such high current for 9Ah battery then battery life and charging cycle will be reduced.

Anyway i am happy that you made full DC

Again if anything wrong here i apologize

Finally my First Bike SUZU GS150R came home yesterday night.
These r the things noticed by me:
                    1) Engine and transmission was too smooth as compared to other bikes and Test drive vehicle. same acknowdegement from my friend who owns a FZ.

                    2) I felt the bike to be heavy while moving it, after sitting on it i did nt feel the weight even wit a pillion , in this way i appreciate Suzu for the placement of center of mass and gravity.

                    3) While riding it i felt 2nd gear very week with short of power and pick up.
Is that common in al ur bikes??

                    4) It was very easy to shift to neutral unlike in other Bajaj bikes.

                    5) i tried to shift the gear at 4K RPM and till now i have reached 6th gear only once in my 10 km journey that 2 forcebly . may be i ll test it in ring roads here after i get he registration no for my bike.

                    6) My bike seems to have an extra mode in the headlight other than the normal 3 modes . the 4th mode s all lights except the two pilot lamps.
                    Thanks to the loose connection.

                    7) there is a loud TAK SOUND when i switch off the engine.

Pl do suggest me for its smooth maintaince since its my first bike

                        it's 25f/30r for single and 25f/33r with a pillion!

                        Higher pressure:
-> less tire contact to ground hence skidding risks at times
                        -> more mileage

                        Lower pressure:
                        -> vice versa

                        Mine
26f/36r . i.e. default settings at any Petrol pump.

Thanks for the nice words from all of you. The recommended tyre pressure is 25-33 psi, as Ashoka and pavan cin said, but increasing a little of the rear tyre is not dangerous; I hope.

Most often we are checking it after riding some distance and hence it is not done in the correct cold condition of the tyre. Considering this, the actual pressure may be a little less.

I am not daring to apply this theory on the front tyre as it is more prone to skidding.

Over inflation causes skidding (?) and excessive wear in the centre of the tyre.

Stealing my bike now is difficult as I am locking it in three ways.
                          1.

                          2. An alarm of Xenos securities.

                          3. A piece of strong chain with a Godrej lock to lock the front wheel.

All this is because my Fiero (10 year and 1.25 lack kms old) was stolen in the second week of January 2010. Such an incident was not expected in my village, especially as the bike is old.

The auto drivers are very polite here; demanding twice or thrice the amount shown in their meter.

There was no other way other than buying a new bike. I bought this on the 27th of that month and got back my old Fiero after 2 or 3 days.

I cannot encourage stealing of my bike. If it is of someone else, it is fine. So, giving my address for that purpose is out of question. Sorry!

This smell may be due to leakage or evaporation. But the mileage you get is very good. Anyway, check the fuel hose to carburetor for leak. Excess heat or cold can cause stiffness and leak of this hose.
Try to park the bike in shade.

As far as I know, this thread is for asking doubts and getting them cleared and to share experiences about the bike.

You have the right to ask any question about the bike to anyone here and he has the right to clear it or not. Your question was not about something personal. Then why are you apologizing?

The modern rr units have the ability to regulate the supply to the battery and cut it off when it is fully charged.

                              • good one there vishnu but everyone wants mileage. people say i drive sanely but knowing the complete thing is more important.history of bike every thing counts the tyre pressure to the care taken services done on time etc. a guy i know keeps on spreading negative publicity of GS150R he owns one & gets an mileage of 20-25kms. i saw his bike one his front mudguard is half broken ! this shows the care taken !& in run -in period on triple seat that idiot on the second day raised the bike to 90-100 . i think this caused extreme pressure on the engine & now this is what he is getting ! i just hate such guys never admitting own mistakes & then blaming others these are truly losers !
my mom says as you sow so shall you reap !
sow care , love , trust so shall you get back even more ! & vice versa !!

guyz completed 815 kms in 40 days. i have decided to change oil at 1300 kms as my 1st service was at 300kms So the new oil will get used also & then i can put new for longer engine life. what say vishnu. guys still in the running -in period but will soon check the mileage as it gets over !

Vishnu you were right & i am happy i made the right decision ! with your guidance ! i didnt like the new 2012 gs150r its moreover the same no rear disc etc i love our generation baby only. & the look from the front..eww..looks like a robo.. i discarded dazzler because of that look. ofcourse its subjective!

guyz the persons who check our bikes at svc one at my place told me to stay below 60kmph till 2500 kms. he said will give awesome mileage & better engine life !
                                your opinions needed !
