Sorry bro,but got confused between crash guard & engine guard.Originally posted by Joey View PostI too remember getting the engine guard, saree guard and crash guard as standard accessories when I purchased my YD 125. Will talk to them while getting delivery.
I personally think engine guard won't do much in protecting the bike. The only reason why I even think about is that, it protects the engine from mud water getting splashed on it.
The engine guard is not a standard accessory.Only the crash guard & saree guard are standard accessory. And anyways you would not need an engine guard.
Sorry once again.

As I said earlier, the only reason why I consider an engine guard is to protect the engine from getting splashed with mud water.

Hi buddy can we get the engine guard stuff from service center or any other place too.Originally posted by dhiwakar View Postengine guard , means a thin sheet attached to the downtube or the crash guard running parallelly to the downtube and running pependiculary to the downtube beneatht he engine...

Also can we attach some fancy stuff like the one seen on CBF stunner. It looks cool on the stunner and it is below the engine, like some cowl i think.

Sorry..........
Sorry brother, just a misunderstandingOriginally posted by dcs View PostDear Mr. Das, when I say apple I mean an Apple and not some water Melon or Banana. Also, I would love to see the place or the person who calls a CRASH GUARD/ LEG GUARD as Engine guard!
The answer was posted in reference to the query and not on basis of some assumption. And one more thing, most of the bikes come fitted with the Crash/leg guard and the saree guard as standard accessory, however we might see chances when the showroom people are charging extra for it. You should raise a voice when ever being charged for these guards. and I would still reiterate that engine guards haven't been too good in protecting the engine from external damage.
. Only now did i noticed that its absent in mine. You were right, Im in full agreement with you. Though a thin sheet, one is preferred as it will prevent deposition of mud and other corrosive materials in the crevices.
Got one question,a tray like structure under the engine extruding from the exhaust pipe is it the catalytic converter.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

this engine guard can be bought from any shop, which deals in automobile products..check with your local mechanic, he would able to guide you..
you can put whatever guard you want, but somemight need some additional work like clamps etc.,
but whatever guard you put, ensure that there is adequate air circulation over the engine to avoid overheating...

Ok Kaspermat, the engine guard in the pic above your post is a Photoshop job, a lift off from Karizma.Originally posted by kasperrmat View PostHi Spacetech,

What is extra can not be essential in general, but if you need you may put up seat cover, buzzer, grip cover, tank guard, helmet lock etc.
there's nothing that you have to take care of while getting your bike delivered. The people who are delivering the bike should be capable enough to get you the right things. but still, make sure that you get your original invoice, insurance cover note, registration certificate( temporary, as they case may be). Towards the mechanical factor, make sure that the enige oil level is correct, they fill at least 1 liter of petrol in the tank, all the electricals are working and there is no physical damage on the bike etc.
which brand of petrol is a very subjective thing. fill the one that appeals you. dont get into the intricacies of the hi-octane number fuel, please refer to your engine compression ratio and you would know that all petrol is equally good for your bike. Engine oils, well I would recommend that you stick to the ones that is changed at the service centre, so as to retain the warranty, lest you might loose it.
Vegas, Studds, arai, KBC, Shoie etc are all good. Get the one that suits you, your skull and your pocket. Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Hi DCS,
Thank you for the prompt reply.
The showroom guys(saboo in Hyderabad) said they will be giving accessories worth rs 500 free like seat cover, buzzer, grips, tank guard.
will take care of what you have mentioned at the delivery time.
As i am new to bikes, could you please let me know what is compresion ratio?
its importance and values for the bikes.
Is there any basic book or website that lets us know about basic technical terminologys and what those used for,as mater to make accustomised to the bikes.
Thanks,
Bike Aspirer.

It was a pleasure to answer your queries.
ok you have two options, either access Compression ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or consult OLD FOX for the indepth knowledge on the topic.
Well, I would say, that as long as anything is coming for free, take it.
Also, ensure that the Showroom people are not charging anything towards the delivery Charges, or PDI charges.
Keep visiting this forum, talk to people like Old Fox, Joel and am sure you will gain enough to bring the technical people at the R&D of most automobile companies to shame.
and yes, Congrats on getting a good stable bike.
ride safe
all cheers

Got my bike yesterday evening.....
The showroom guys gave all the documents and explained everything in detail.
The bike is just great, the riding stance is excellent. Hit a max of 50 in 6 gear, at just below the 4K RPM mark. Feels like gliding in the bike.
Front breaks were excellent, rear brake was a bit loose, tightened it once I got home. I always use both the brakes and its pretty effective during the run in period, so can't comment much on the rear brake.
I have known about the headlight adjustment issue, was confident it would have been fixed in the 2010 model, but man, the high beam was totally useless.
The high beam spread to left and right and to the area just in front of the bike.
. Will have the SC guys adjust it.
I can't lock the bike on the left side.
Has anybody found a fix for it ?
I can feel the 3K resonance, but it is very very minimum in my bike, it almost disappears at the 4K mark.
The SC guys told me to kick start the bike every morning, till first service is completed, I thought it was just an advice.
And today morning when I pressed the start button, the bike wouldn't start.
Tried it for 3 times still won't start, then I kick started it, at the 2nd try it started.
Very very happy with the bike as of now.

Use kick start in the morning. Also before you start the bike kick press it 3-4 times with clutch pressed and then again without clutch pressed. Then start the bike and kick start it and let it idle for 1 min.
