no permanent solution yet. Suzuki was supposed to work on it, but no feedback on this.

*) squeaking sound from front brake/suspension

      didn't experience this.

*) old rectifier/regulator ( serial number xxxxxxAA found next to engine, should be changed to xxxxxxBA ) - mine is indicationg xxxxxxAA. What is the problem with it and is it a MUST to replace this with xxxxxxBA?

Even I am looking for a definitive answer for this.

*) very high heel shifter - I guess this can be adjusted

no, it can't. It's just a matter of getting used to it.

*) handle bar height adjustment - somebody in this forum mentioned that it can be lowered in service center. is it true?

Yep. If your hands are paining due to current position, make it as nearer to you as possible, so it will be bit low. Very comfortable on long rides.

*) handle lock - left side not locking properly. can it be corrected?

No. It's like a function, can't be cured.

*) Tank rust issue - how to verify this?

*) poor grip of front tyres - I find the front tyre is having less grip. any solutions/suggestions?

YMMV, I felt the grip was alright. You can always go for a change of tire. Make sure you are maintaining correct pressure in the tire (28psi)

      *) vibrations at 3500rpm - I think it's a minor issue.

Yep, a minor issue. Don't bother about it.

Please comment on these issues. I will discuss them when I go to the service camp tomorrow.

      Thanks for bearing with me.

      • [QUOTE=Anupdas;373906]Welcome to the den of GS pians.

Is that even possible to ride GS between 45-50. I find it very difficult to keep it below 55. And even after doin it im getting a mileage of 55-60.

The real fun of GS starts from that range. Have you experienced anythin other than that visor noise and chain slack? DO share you experience with GS in detail..[/QUOTE

        hello sir :::

hahaha.....ive got a lot of saddle time in that speed range .....(practice makes a man perfect)
ya..... i have come through one unique problem other than those two,,

the choke lever was very tight when i got ma bike...it was nearly impossible to activate the , choke,,,as i required it frequently in winters,,

the mechanic at the ser. station were clue less ...as they tried to attemp it by loosening the bottom nut of switch gear assembly of the left side of the handle bar ,it worked but the switch gear was loose so the whole damm thing stared to move as i applied the choke in downward dirction.... direction......
till date the choke lever ia bit hard and the ...swicth gear is a bit loose ...i have to Apply the choke by both hands ...one for choke ..aND LATTER FOR HOLDING THE SWITCH GEAR

Look at your RC smart card for month of manufacture.

Unfortunately, its difficult to modify the heel shifter. You could cut it off and weld it at a lower position

The squeaking sound is from disc, due to dust. i get it cleaned at every service, it comes back after a week or so. no solution i guess.

Just open the tank and look inside with a torch. you can notice it, if any.

And the rear brake is very good in my bike. just ask them to tighten it properly.

          • Hi thefalcon,

thanks for ur info and suggestions.

But how does RTO know the manufacturing details of a company like Suzuki/honda/bajaj?

Is there any standard decoding logic based on the engine and/or chassis number?

OT : Can anybody tell me how to use the multi-quote feature?

            • Disappointed

Its a pleasure too see so much enthusiastic owners sharing their opinions. Keep up this good work.

As in my case i have clocked 1400km and engine is lot more smoother than it used to be. But with a pillion the bike feels dead slow. I noticed some problems, anyone please comment on this

              1. Engine revving is not free after 4000 rpm. Very noisy after this mark. 5th and 6th are ok. But lower two is just use less. Im very disappointed

              2. Rear brake dont have a bite. Usually at medium speeds i use both brakes proportionately. At low speeds using both of them is uncomfortable for pillion and when i tried to use only rear brake it has much larger stopping distance.

              3. Fluctuating mileages: After first service the mileage figures have gone down to 45-50 range with a pillion and driving around 60.

              4. Front tire tends loose traction at around 80. Had to lean forward to keep it grounded. I really felt like the front tire has gone airborne. Now im wondering how some guys reported 113 kmph???

I think personally that it is because of the break in procedure where-in your bike is only getting used to RPMs above 4000. Trust me... with somw more kms on the ODO you wont feel a thing.

70% of the braking power in any twowheeler comes from the front brakes. So if you only apply the rear you get only 30%. If you tighten it a lot (and cant make out when to release and start pumping the brakes,) the bike will skid. It happened to me after my second service. I never complained about the rear brakes, but the service guy felt urged and tightened it. then i realized that the bike tends to skid at hard braking, unless you start pumping. And at desperate times, what most people(even me) do is press the brakes hard and forget to pump.... thus skid over.

Even I have no clue what all complex calculations go in when it comes to the mileage of GS. Even mine keeps fluctuating. But the good thing is that its the figures are not heart breaking.

I regularly ride at 102-106. There is a nice highway here in Navi mumbai, and cant resist it when i get there. I have once touched 117 when there was no traffic. Not felt any thing like loosing traction or front going airbrone. I guess... maybe its because I am around 90Kilos...

Thanks for your quick reply. But loosing the front is a serious problem that i face now. I got my bike serviced last week and the bike has become smooth, for a moment i tried to rip it a bit and after 75 i felt as if the front has become lighter and gave me chills. The road i drove was a little uneven. But there were some cross winds. I think may be that would have caused that. I expect more replies from other members.

About braking, its not a serious problem. I just wanted to keep my pillion a little more comfortable applying front brakes at low speed gives a jolty feel.

With a pillion im sick of 100 cc bikes getting past me from stand still and it takes a lot time to just overtake them that too with late braking or minimum braking.......

                      Anup,

When you are riding at speeds over 70 on uneven roads, then there is every chance that you may feel like losing traction at the front wheel.
Do not ride at high speeds on those kind of roads.

Take your bike to a pretty good road (NH) and test it out at the same speed, if you still have the same problem, test this with any other bike. Maybe its just you or something is definitely wrong with your bike.

I say this because, when I went to book the bike, a person had come there to give the bike for servicing and he was saying that he had riden upto 95 and the bike was very very stable.

Wats with you and 100cc bikes, mate?
Wait till 3K mark on your Odo and then rip your bike and you will leave the 100cc bikes behind, till then just forget about the people around and take care of your bike during run in.

                      • I have ridden the bike at around 85-90 on the nashik highway and i felt the bike pretty stable. Also the pick up of the bike when it goes from 60 to 80+ is awesome. In no time it reaches that speed.

                        • rust in tank mouth

The ugly head is up again .... today while filling gas i casually checked the tank for rust and bang! it was there. There's quite a lot of rusting in the mouth of the petrol tank. Dont know how much more is there inside the tank.

To top it up the milage is still not consistent. Lost all the hope with this machine. Earlier I used to tell ppl that this is OK bike but now, I dare say GS is nothing but a piece of JUNK! Looking for options to get rid of it.

One piece of advice from my side for all future GS buyers - BEWARE!

Mate, its not advisable to drive at such high speeds with a female pillion.

Good to hear about the stability of the bike at such speeds, can you comment of the braking of the bike, does it inspire confidence?
