Yeah, those pics explain what he was trying to say(Suzuki 4T); I heard him wrong then, Suzuki-40

I guess I've to get my hands greasy to stay happy with GS. Thanks Vishnu.. will check current filter and then decide whether to replace it or not. However, I've ridden 1500 kms with that Suzuki-4T; will be on it for another 100 kms or so before I switch to Shell Advance AX7 10w-40. Hoping to see some change in riding.

    Thanks again

It is to adjust the volume / tone of the horn. No need to adjust the screw inside this cap unless the horn becomes faulty. Leave the alignment in its original condition.

It is easy to keep the bike in good condition if you are prepared to do the usual maintenance works yourself.

The oil filter is available for Rs. 35/-. Most of us are replacing it with every oil change.

          • Name : Shell Advance AX7 Semi-synthetic
            Grade : 10W-40
            Rating: SL / MA2

Was not available at a Shell outlet near my home; He(outlet Manager) was insisting me to go with Shell Ultra Full-synthetic (Rs 725/ltr)
Shell Advance AX5 Mineral was available at Rs 250/ltr

all shell Bike oils were of grade 10W-40; and different Rating(going with Mineral/SS/FS).

Will search for Shell Advance AX7 Semi-synthetic at other outlets in B'lore.

                  • Hi, please help me my GS clocked over 227km of ODO so i planned to change the Oil, Here in my area i searched to find a good brand with following two things
                    1. SAE standard
                    2. JASO MA2 standard

finally i found only one brand has both of the above standards, Brand called Agip (attached the Image also) which is Licensed from Eni S.P.A Italy().

I need your suggestion please because there is something written as Synthetic Technology and i dont know about this brand too.

Only 227 km, let it run on the current Oil for another 500 kms, manual says so.

                      I assume
                      - do not put FS(Fully Synthetic) unless you've more than 6000 kms on your ODO.
                      - do not put SS(Semi Synthetic) unless you've more than 3000 kms on your ODO.
                      - Premium Mineral is best always.

As Vishnu and others were saying; go with xxW-40 grade Oil with better rating.

                      xxW-40 includes: 10w-40, 15w-40, 20W-40

Senior members may advice you more on which brand to go with. Going by the price tag of Rs 237/- in the picture you've posted, it's Mineral Oil.

Why do you need to clean it.....isn't it covered....if its covered then simply remove the cover ant rotate the chain...that way you can clean it....

I would say let the odo show atleast 500 before oil change......It's one of the best brands alongside motul....and use this one ...there's no problem since it is 20 w 40....always remember one thing use oil which has XX w 40 rating....where xx ranges from 05-10-15-20.....since yours is still run in period go with 20 rating one....

Thanks Sparkot, As somewhere i read that its is better to change the Oil arround 200 km of ODO, so what i planned to do so. My doubt is that something on that CAN "Synthetic technology" i dont understand why they printed that

I prefer 20W-40 as advised by most of you people here

bro yeah i know we can clean that way but most of the sludge will be in the cover which covers front sprocket thats the reason i am asking

                              • @firegun....you are welcome...n the synthetic written there is just the technology used to derive the oil n nuthing else...also sometimes ppl just see synthetic oil is best for RACING....and they visit the shop....seeing it written on the can they buy it....so just marketing strategy applied here....
@speed deamon.....if you have the chain cover then no need of cleaning the front sprocket thing....if its not there then you need to open it....its simple...do it yourself job....
