  • @bangy guys: my friend wants to buy a GS.
He has researched a lot in the net and found way too many rusting complaints with GS.
Need few valuable inputs from you guys...
    1) Does the rusting problem still exist?
    2) How good the bike is after 3rd service? Any performance issues, any rusting below the petrol lid, under the chassis, center stand?
    3) What is the real time mileage under sedate riding?
    4) How affordable are the routine services?

He is getting the bike for 67k in aerolux motors, we have contacted the sales rep regarding the rusting problem, provided many links of the complaints also, but he was purely reluctant saying all those problem exists in PY and TN none in Bangalore...

    awaiting your inputs

They come in 5ltr bottles with suzuki logo on it. It's box just says "20W40 for geared wetclutch type" and 20w30 on other cans(I think they use in for acess 125).

Because my oil was fresh red could easily be seen, just looking through the level window will give it away that I was using a differtent oil. The SC guy said, " oil ka grade bahut important hai. tum log sirf 20w40 dekthe ho aur kaunsa bhi dal dete ho(Oil grade is very important, you people just see 20W40 and put it)" Thats when I gave him details of the oil I put. Then he said " let me see, but we will not take guarantee for any other oil". Then i asked him what grade oil does suzuki provide. He did not give me a precise answer. Just kept saying that 'we dont use outside oil. The company directly provides.' But when I went to collect my bike the oil had been changed and I was charged for it.

I used to always like my SC guys, but this incident had made me a little edgy. I do not intend to use the Suzuki oil. I dont like it. At the same time I dont want to get rough with the SC guys.
from 5000km to 8000km , I am running on 15w-40 castrol power1 ,no problem at all,it is more smooth than suzuki oil(actually it is castrol 20w40,packed for suzuki)

There are quite a few cases in b'lore also..(including me).
But they replace rusting parts so its not that big of a problem..

under sedate riding i get 55 in b'lore.. usually i zip so around 50-52..

Its still worth buying the bike IMO.

                • Called the SC guys today and asked about the replacement for my bike's rusted tank. They asked my name and went through some records in their system and told me that, a complaint has already been registered for your bike, and the replacement will be available on monday.

So, I think its not a hush hush stuff, Suzuki wants every complaints to be registered.
For any potential users who are apprehensive about buying this bike due to this rust issue, don't worry go ahead and book your bike. If there is rust it will be replaced.

                  • The last week I tested my mileage for 200 Rs of petrol (~4 Litres). It went for 206 kms.
So I am getting 51 KMPL , first service is due for next week.

And I have put 4 litres of petrol again, and it has ran till 186 KMs, still haven't come to reserve yet. So the mileage will pretty well be around 50.

I have touched 70 KMPH, unknowingly a few times , I was cruising at 55 KMPH and then even though my mind said NO, me heart told to open the throttle a bit more, it was 60 and it was butter smooth, felt like sailing, then a few seconds later the Speedometer read 71 KMPH. . Cruising at 50 or 70 feels all the same... wonderful.

@DCS: Simply disabling the pilot lamps add 10W additional power, so he can run 60/55W bulb easily. I am doing so for past 3-4 months!

Im also hunting for "Osram Silverstar 55/60W" without success. Please tell me where to find it too. I'm not from pune, but my friend works there and he comes home every weekend.

                      • Nobody liked the idea?

I have these ultrabright LED flashlights. One of these flashlights is brighter that both Pilot bulbs put together at idle RPM. I was thinking I'll find those bulbs and use two of them for pilot lamps, and two of the normal puny LED to illuminate the rear no. plate. These flashlights work on 2XAA size batteries, ie 3V. We have 12V on our bikes. I only have zero knowledge when it comes to circuits. So I really need someone with kmowledge in electronics to help me with a simple circuit diagram.

Is there any other option. I mean do we get 12V very bright LED in the market for automibles? Does anyone know?

There will be 12v leds in the market hopefully. not too sure.

If u want to use 3v led then connect 4 of them in series. the voltage will split equally 12/4=3v, 2 for pilot lamp and 2 for rear no plate.
Or u'll have to use some resistor in series with each led to divide the voltage, but this might be a waste of power..

By the way, i've asked in the service centre, they said changing circuitry of bike will void the warranty for all electricals in the bike..

                            Hi!!!!!
The best method is to Connect a 1K Ohms Resistor in series with the LED...
Its Safe as the execs voltage will drop across the LED. In order to avoid flickering, a capacitor (say 1000mf) can be connected in parallel with the LEDs... This will filter off the ac components. And of-course use a diode to make it dc...

                              Hi Blitz,

It would be awesome to have LED's for pilot lamps. I would love to have blue LED's as pilot lamps on my ride. But the thing is I don't have much knowledge in auto electrical's and I dont trust local mechanics. Btw will the LED fit in to standard factory fitted holder of the current pilot lamps? anyway if you are successful please guide me as well. I want to know the procedures of fitting blue LED's as pilot lamps. thks
