As for MRF Zapper, they might be good for city roads but not for tough terrains and off roading conditions and rains Meteor, CEAT or Sirac may be opted.Originally posted by Tahr View PostLast edited by Hoodibaba; 07-08-2014, 09:18 PM.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Guys, did you try on any slopes or something riding without hands on? I notice swaying towards right. I have to lean myself all the way to left to make the bike go straight. I was doing this just to check the balance of the bike which seems offset. I have saree guard on, so i tried the same after removing it same result. Then i thought probably wheel is not aligned so i checked that. I aligned the rear wheel properly. Still there is right side sway. This is not bothering me while riding but i was wondering if there is some problem it may lead to uneven tire wear. Any inputs on this?
I tried a new test bike in the showroom. Same behaviour observed on that too. Do you experience this swaying too??

- Wind direction & speed : depending on wind direction & speed we lean against it to counteract/cancel throwing force.
- CoG (Rider + Motorcycle) : Higher the CoG higher are the chances for it to lean towards a side.
- Contact Patch : Overinflated tyres might cause CoG to tilt easily.
- Loose Steering : should see handle wobbling when both hands are off the handle!!! Scary thought.

- Does this explain why we've front-disc-brake on the LHS ?

- Wheel Alignment : Both front & rear wheel should be aligned to rotate in same plane(yes, 3D geometry).
Did I leave unbalanced suspension action/travel ? I can't test these as my steering is too loose at the moment. There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

1. I don't lift both my hands off the handlebar while riding
2. My arms/shoulders don't feel stressful
Have any other GS owners have the same swaying-to-the-right problem and have resolved it?--I STOP ON RED--

I tried this test on a slopy mountain road with dense trees on both sides, so no lateral winds. And this happens at all speeds whether i am slow or fast.
CoG (Rider + Motorcycle) : Higher the CoG higher are the chances for it to lean towards a side.
This one I am not sure. Didnt consider it
Contact Patch : Overinflated tyres might cause CoG to tilt easily.
I tried the test on the recommended tire pressure. 25 front and 29 rear. Also tried the same on 25 front and 33 rear(without pillion though). Same result.
Loose Steering : should see handle wobbling when both hands are off the handle!!! Scary thought.
I do not notice any wobbling at all. Only rightward sway.
Does this explain why we've front-disc-brake on the LHS ?
Do you mean to say that because suzuki know that bike sways on right so on hard breaking the bike get too unbalanced to control. And to counter act that they gave front disk on left?
Wheel Alignment : Both front & rear wheel should be aligned to rotate in same plane(yes, 3D geometry).
I took care of this. I aligned rear tire with the swingarms by measuring distance method as well as thread alignment method.
For that matter you can try going a little fast like 60ish and leave both hands for a moment. Bike sways rightward. Re: Suzuki GS150R
Hi SparKot, Thanks for your tips. I booked the bike on friday evening (04/07/2014) evening at Aryan suzuki (whitefield). At that time they are unloading the brand new bikes from a truck, including two GS (black and white). I knew that that will be my bike. Showroom guy told that bike is ready, but I dont have full cash. So on saturday I went with one of my friend, paid the full amount and got the GS (after the checks, ThanksOriginally posted by SparKot View PostNice colour choice buddy & no sirs here.
Since you're a second time customer of Suzuki-GS150R you know all the things to be checked on/before delivery.
Here is an excellent & exhaustive guide(4 parts) from Enfield; pick all the points that are applicable to GS150R:

). I saw two INAZUMAs (red and black) I checked them regarding test ride, they replied yes. My friend test ridden it (red). Its big and exhaust note is good. Its fuel tank looks similar to GS and tail lamp looks like broadened slingshot (NO LED).
The ODO of my GS was 1km. Initially the engine is rough, but it is becoming smooth day by day.

But with a pillion, the bike wont lean to the right side. it will go straight without any probs. Is it the same for others as well ? samcan123 , rsk_kelkar ?

I haven't checked with a pillion yet. I feel scary to attempt this stunt of taking off both the hands with a pillion's life at stake.Originally posted by nikhil.krishnan View PostEven i have noticed it several times.. but all those time, i thought it is because of my seating posture.

Re: Suzuki GS150R
No such problems on mine. It's highly unlikely this is an 'engineering error'. Else there would be many reporting arm/shoulder aches (on the opposite one to the sway side; i.e left).Originally posted by rsk_kelkar View Post...I notice swaying towards right. Can you confirm the following
1. You have had this issue 'after' a couple of days/weeks/months of satisfactory ownership, right?
2. Any accidents on the GS, 'any' modifications, what did the Odo read at the time of delivery?
3. Was there a lot of wind, uneven road when you tested this? (you must've factored this, but just to be sure)
4. Don't mind me asking, no offense intended at all, is your hearing from "both" ears perfect?
If your cochlea (the auditory portion of the inner ear), in either ear, has suffered damage (after an accident or severe infection) there will be balance issues. The severity can vary and many don't know of this for a better part of their lives.
If the answer to each of the above is; No, I reckon this will be coming from the forks or rear suspension.
If taking two-up fixed it (as nikhil.krishnan noted above) then that is definitely a suspension related issue.
Perhaps a consequence of reckless unloading / an accident / or a large pothole
- Check for gas or oil leakage in the rear shocks
- Check uneven spring weakening (or oil leakage) in the front fork
- worst case (though i am sure you must've ruled it out); the fork or steering itself is out of tune

I'm just rolling the ball with more questions. We don't know the exact dynamics/design/reasons for placing brake-disc on the LHS.Originally posted by rsk_kelkar View PostDo you mean to say that because suzuki know that bike sways on right so on hard breaking the bike get too unbalanced to control. Alright, we're giving too much importance to this petty thing. It could something as simple as loose steering coupled with stiff routed-cables around it.Originally posted by rsk_kelkar View PostDo any other GS owners have the same swaying-to-the-right problem and have resolved it?

Re: Completed 500 on ODO
I had and still have this issue. Tried lot of stuff, but still the issue remainsOriginally posted by getvmurali View PostFolks,
This weekend I have completed 500 on my GS. A few observations:
1. The engine is smooth and sounds perfect.
2. Gear shift is not accurate once the engine is heated up to full. Hope this will be sorted out after the run-in period and a couple of service.
3. Rear brake seems to be not the best in class. As observed earlier in my post, a disc would have done the trick.
4. Shocks are good and my back feels good.
5. I have an issue with my digital fuel indicator and fuel knob. They don't sync and are not per user manual. Reported to SVC, as usual no help
A BIG ISSUE:
There seems to be a problem in my bike chassis (not sure thou
). After driving for few KMs, I feel a pain in my right shoulder and in my wrist. I tried driving the bike without my hands on the handle bar and could feel the bike skews towards right side and I have to adjust my body weight to bring back the vehicle to stability. I reported the problem to SVC. The SE took the bike for a drive and also agreed about the problem. He adjusted the fork set. Even after that I have the same problem
I searched this thread and found this:
But I don't see any resolution to the issue.
What could be the reason for this?
1. A fork bend?
2. Tyre mis-alignment?
3. Chassis issue?
Please advice
A note to Chennai GS150R owners: I had hard gear shift problem and reported it many times to SVC (JAV Adyar). They didn't fix it. The moment my warranty was over they told me the issue is with the clutch plate assembly. I was furious by this observation and spoke to the manager there. But he was also not in a helping mood. I then went to ABT Suzuki and changed the complete set. I was also allowed to stay inside the service area and I was very happy and satisfied to see all the work done with my consent and in front of me. Now the hard gear shift issue had gone and engine feels very smooth. I also replaced the fuel knob and now it works perfectly.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
I wanted to upgrade my rear Tyre with 120/80 configuration. I would be using mainly in city traffic condition with only 10% highway usage. My current set doesn't inspire confidence with a pillion rid. Please suggest a good brand and make. ThanksLast edited by getvmurali; 07-09-2014, 12:41 AM.

I myself dont have any sort of pain either. While riding the bike is perfectly stable in hands. The sway is observed only with both hands away from grip. May be a very small imbalance which i cant figure out where.
Can you confirm the following
1. You have had this issue 'after' a couple of days/weeks/months of satisfactory ownership, right?
No. I have this issue right from the first day of purchase. And as I mentioned earlier, this issue exists on a test ride bike in the showroom too. I haven't ridden any other GS.
2. Any accidents on the GS, 'any' modifications, what did the Odo read at the time of delivery?
Yes two accidents. Both were a falls due to slipping on turn at hardly 20-25kmph. One fall was at 6500+km and another at 9000+km. But as i said the issue was existent right from the first day of purchase.
3. Was there a lot of wind, uneven road when you tested this? (you must've factored this, but just to be sure)
As I mentioned in previous post road is in the middle of thick forest cover. And was it uneven?? Not at all. Goa is known to have best roads even in far off villages.
No offense taken either. Both my ears are perfectly fine and have no issues in balance. Or I would be walking like a drunkard in my house
.
If the answer to each of the above is; No, I reckon this will be coming from the forks or rear suspension.
If taking two-up fixed it (as nikhil.krishnan noted above) then that is definitely a suspension related issue.
I will try this once as the road i mentioned is very lonely, not much traffic either ways and i know the severity is not as much to have any chance of a fall.
Perhaps a consequence of reckless unloading / an accident / or a large pothole
- Check for gas or oil leakage in the rear shocks No leakage
- Check uneven spring weakening (or oil leakage) in the front fork How do I check that?
- worst case (though i am sure you must've ruled it out); the fork or steering itself is out of tune Doesnt look like. Any way to measure it though? This feels like a likely possibility. Let me do some tests on this.Originally posted by SparKot View PostIt could something as simple as loose steering coupled with stiff routed-cables around it.
Although this is a petty issue everybody wants their bikes to be perfect in all sense. That is why we all take such pains. I don't mean to tax anybody for my issue just raised a query if anybody else has it or knows any solution.

. I still haven't found reasonable explanation for Suzuki switching from adjustable-link-rod to current one.

Do we have to apply some kind of adhesive to carburetor-flange-gasket during refitting after removal?
Every time I lube the chain with EP-90 API GL-4 gear oil, I put one few drops into gear-shifter joints & clutch lever where it enters engine-case. Then wipe of excess oil to avoid dust deposits.Originally posted by getvmurali View Post...

I can't complain gear shifts except for the gear-shifter free-play (now dampened).
I removed fuel tank for cleaning/checking few months back. Dismantled fuel petcock too, it has become smoother after the reassembly.Originally posted by getvmurali View Post...

Re: Suzuki GS150R
Yeah sometimes is irritating. I too have it. When shift down due to little traffic on road, shifting back up causes a click sound which is of the fixed-link-rod falling in place and then the shift occurs. I too when noticed the free play first time was worried but saw the GSians here are discussing about it and I am following it regularly.Originally posted by SparKot View PostI'm sleeping on gear-shifter free-play niggle these days

I am thinking of filling up the gap between the link rod and holder with some cloth and m-seal on top. Cloth will do the job of filling up the gap and m-seal will keep it together though leaving gap for the link to move
