• Re: Suzuki GS150R

So as I said earlier, I got my black GS today.
Odo was showing 5kms.
The dealer said by 5.30pm the bike will be ready for delivery. I made the payment by 10.30 am and they did the registration today itself.

Mirror rubber had one some problem. They replaced it. Minor scratch on the right brake lever. Asked to replace it thrice. The sales guy said will replace it..but not done. At the time of delivery I again said and he said sorry will replace the lever at my place tomorrow.

Seat cover not done..they said out of stock.
Number plate not done. Not in stock.
For both the this things I already paid in the morning. Dealer said tomorrow at my place they will fix these items.
Crash guard and saree guard fixed..

The initial irritating problem I faced is the self start not working. At the time of delivery I asked those people and they said all this while the bike was idle and it will work ones everything settles. Later I called that sales guy and he said we will look into this tomorrow along with seat cover.
I went the showroom by 5.30 pm..but I got the delivery by 7pm.
Also, 1 thing I noticed is that the workshop guys ride the bike like anything, meaning very rough..they don't really care of the run-in.
I don't know wat these guys want to prove.

No rust observed anywhere. Number I will get tomorrow..

Dude I don't know what you're addressing here. Misfire or Backfire? Coz, you're mixing the terms.

Ride Test-Ride motorcycle to see if it misfires/backfires. If it doesn't misfire/backfire then ask them to switch the carburettor for testing. Since you managed to switch exhaust for testing, they wouldn't mind I guess.

NOTE: We're learning at the expense of your time & money, but just time on our end.

Note the speed on your speedo when you cross a speed breaker next time.
You can ride the Test-Ride motorcycle (or any GS150R) on the same patch of road to compare & contrast.

Is there any standard test to perform on rear-shocks before procuring @ over 3000/- ?

Congrats on your new purchase.
By the way, most of the service guys ride the vehicles rashly. This happens even for cars.

Local mechanic says its backfire, the ASC mechanic says its misfire. Whats happening is, when i go from a higher RPM to a lower RPM, i get a rythmic burst sound from the exhaust. It only happens when going from higher RPM to lower RPM. The bike runs fine without any problems though. The sound is irritating. Do you know where the air cut valve is present on this carb? I will post the pics by evening.

I think this is normal. Even i hear that dub dub sound at regular intervals(more or less 1-2 sec) when i release the accelerator on slopes and engine rpm starts lowering.

So, it was popping now it's rhythmic burst.

You can clearly make out from the photo you posted where air-cut-value is supposed to be mounted, but hole isn't drilled. We don't have air-cut-value on our Carb.

We've PAIR(Pulsed Secondary Air Injection) system to which additional filtered-air is fed on a different line. And it's rhythmic, in tune with RPM.

How much did SVC charge for exhaust-swap-test & which SVC was it?

If it still does, I will ask him 2 swap the exhaust and test.
So, carb-swap-test is pending then.

What's normal to you & me may not be so to Terrorist . Besides, we've not observed the sound from his motorcycle in person to compare & contrast.

For instance, the same sound produced by exhaust on closing throttle is perceived differently:
SparKot : cloth fluttering
rsk_kelkar : dub dub

..
The self start was NOT a problem at all.. We have depress the clutch to do a self. I was not aware of it. The sales guy did not tell me this. I simply pressed the clutch and tried and it worked. Was really happy.

The seat covers and number plates are done now. I met one service guy in the showroom and he said in 4 months time, this is the second bike they are selling. What made you to buy this bike...some questions..I told the good and bad things of this bike and he agreed.

THE ISSUEs pending now is:
1. I hear a tick tick noise some times while running and sometimes soon after stopping and ignition off. Not sure what this is. Any idea what this may be??
2. Gear shift is little bit hard. The toe shifter is not good to use.
3. The rear view mirrors does NOT give a clear view.

Also, can someone advice on the gear shifting rpms..Like in cars, we upshift once the rpm reaches 1700...As of now, I am upshifting when the rpm cross 3.5 or reaches 4. Is this fine?

regarding the tik-tik I got some information from How to reduce suzuki gs150r silencer tik tik sound?.. This might have already been discussed here but since I am new asking the same questions as I am eager to k now if this happens only with me...

Guys, I believe the tik tik sound ... when parked ... after the ignition is switched off ... is made by the Catalytic Converter and the silencer. Cat Cons do that. A Cat Con is fitted to make all harmful emmissions safer. GS150R silencer is made of materials that easily heat up quickly. A Cat Con performs only when it is heated up. So the so called tik tik sound. You should not let that bother you. I guess the experts here will know better.

I remember @Maestro asking Suzuki engineers in an event and got the same answer, around 4,000 RPM. You can shift-up based on your mood post break-in.

Keep varying those RPMs slowly within break-in-RPM-limits for better break-in.

Most importantly, it should be a positive shift. i.e. the engine-RPM ought to be higher than Transmission-RPM; especially during down-shifting. Otherwise the tyre skids due to sudden reduction in Transmission-RPM & impacting all the components involved.

cheers

The sound is normal for every bike that contains a catalytic converter. It is basically a heating element which makes sure that the emissions coming out of the exhaust cause minimum pollution. Dont worry about it and enjoy your ride.

Oh okay I get it. There is no air cut valve on GS150's carb.
He did not charge me anything for swapping the exhaust and checking the jets. I had it tested at Aryan Suzuki, Whitefield.
He asked me to leave the bike at the Service Centre for testing the carb and he told it would take a day, but since I needed my bike, I said I would do it some other time over the weekend.

But mine does that for more than 4-5 seconds. It actually depends on how high we take the RPM to. Funny thing is that my AFR screw is turned to around 6-8 turns.
