I use to get a mileage of 58-60 kmpl when ridden in economy mode with a speed range of 50-60kmph on highway stretch
Got my 1st service when odo clocked 890kms.Since then i face low mileage issues my bull delivers only 40-44 kmpl with same road and same driving patterns.I rode numerous times to service centre, but all i got was some eye washing like loose chain is the reason,2nd time they tuned the idelling screw from 1200rpm to 1000rpm but no change in mileage,3rd time they did some tuning in the fuel screw but still no change in mileage,4 th time despite of my forcing got MILEAGE CAN test with 100ml fuel i got a reading of 5.6 kms .but i used reserve to reserve method which gave me only 42kmpl,half litre homemade coke bottle mileage can also returned the same low mileage figure..

*Before 1st service = 60 kmpl * after 1st service = 40-42kmpl..(now my bike reads 2040kms on odo)
*I also face starting trouble (from the day of buying this bike)after being idle for 2 days..bike starts only after numerous kicks, self starts and choke..Why?

I am really frustrated of this issue ,hope someone could help me here..I will post my ownership review after getting these problems solved.Help me guys please..

Thanks and Happy Ramzan.

I believe spark plug have no issues as I can see blue sparks clearly.
My carb fuel screw is 2.5 (360+360+180 degrees) from lock position.Noted it while the svc guy tuned.
Fuel I use the hp bunk nearby since the first day of buying this bike..
Both wheel rotates freely
chain tight seems to be normal

Thanks ....
Is there anything else I have to check which can lead to mileage drop..?
Thanks

Reg Engine oil change *2500KMs on odo*

To change the engine oil is it ok to drain the oil and refill the oil

Or Is it better to flush the engine with kerosene or something else..??

Interesting problem.
I faced a similar situation when i bought my bike back in 2009. :P
I used to fill only shell petrol initially, and always got a mileage of 52-55 kmpl.
Then petrol prices increased, and shell was on the higher side so i ended up going to normal petrol bunks. (This was when petrol was 50 bucks a litre btw. :P)
After this my mileage was always around 48-50, irrespective of riding style.

After this i started trying to tune the carb myself a little, and after this my bike pretty much never gave more than 48 kmpl, even with shell.
(Nowadays i get around 45, but then i'm pretty much always at 6k rpm so no complaints.)

So point is, before fiddling around with factory settings of carb etc, please make sure your petrol bunk isn't cheating you. I say this because the can method gave you 5.6 km !
You could also check for some leaks, is the petrol cap and rubber ring properly sealing the opening, is the pipe connecting to the carb proper, etc..

And don't try to do things like flushing the engine with kerosene etc. Not on a new bike !!!

Note: If you go to Indian Oil bunks try something else for a change, i've had the worst experience at those bunks (more than one). Not sure if its the petrol quality or tampered meters, but any Indian oil bunk i fill at, my mileage drops to 30s.

Thanks thefalcon

thanks falcon for your valuable support.Let me check leaks and seals for any leakage.and let me try with some other bunk.
But in oppose to your mileage issues with IO bunks my friend experiences 10% increase in mileage with his fazer, though none of my friends owning fazer and other bike including me never experienceg any boost. My friends green fazer got an unmatched chemistry with IO bunks..:-) ;-)

Completed 4th svc on saturday. Bike is now 8000km and 6 months old. The gear shifting has become a lot smoother now. I wonder why the gearbox takes time to settle in and become smooth after so many km. As someone in this thread pointed out that it took almost 10K km for the geabox to become smoother in his bike, mine is also taking it's own sweet time to settle in. Though I cannot say that the gearbox is butter smooth, it is very much manageable and smooth now compared to my Hunk. I believe it will still smoothen out in due course of time. Suzuki should really consider this point. No customer would be patient enough to wait until 10K km for smooth gear shifts.

I did not find any other major issues with the bike. The suspension is good. Mileage hovers around 57kmpl if ridden in a sedate manner.

One small niggle with the bike is that I hear some squeaking noise. Last time it was the disk pad that was causing the noise. The svc centre mechanic cleaned the pad during the earlier svc and the noise was gone. The noise started again after 1000km run. this time the disk pad was cleaned again but the noise is still present. I think I'll have to ask them to check the wheels.

• GS150R- Service after a long interval

Dear fellow Xbhpians,
I own a GS150R which has done approx 25k on ODO.
I live in bangalore. Due to certain circumstances, i have not been able to get my bike serviced in the last 2 years. The last service was done at aryan suzuki in oct 2012 but in that too i did not go for an engine oil change because i had changed engine oil to Shell Semi synthetic at a shell station in Aug 2012. During the past 2 years, bike has run about 2.5K Km only and was standing idle for most of the time.
I'm planning to get the bike serviced. There are few noticeable issues-

a. 'khat khat' noise from near chain. (this noise has been present sicne 2 years. earlier suzuki service center could not recognize it. however when i went for a test ride with a service advisor, he told chain sprocket bad. However the spare part was not avaliable with them.
b. if in speed, i depress clutch, i can feel periodic vibrations. Not sure if it is some alignment problem or chain being dirty.

Can you all please suggest what all points to keep in mind in such case, when going for service? If possible, a idea on what all components should be replaced as a result of the long gap in general? Which Engine oil should i go for now? Is it advisable to get the oil changed in service center?

I was earlier planning to get the service done at Castrol bike zone in Mahadevpura - ahmad bikes. However i saw a lot of negative reviews. Also this is not listed on castrol biks zone website as a authorized service center. So i am again going back to Aryan Suzuki service center in whitefield.

Help! Help!

I gave my GS for carburetor tuning to Praman Suzuki (Adambakkam) once. Since then I have been getting an average of 57kmpl.

Better ask the svc regarding this. Maybe nobody knows about it and hence no reply.
Stay with suzuki spares. They are of good quality.
As for tyre, no idea.

I have seen a GS150R's picture in this thread with a wider tire, I guess that was a 120/80.
Please search in this thread itself.
