      Apparently that's a rubber/cord strapped around.

SEP enabled Suzuki motorcycles/scooters are yet to hit the market; we'll know then.

I faced difficulty in winding the alternator coil as well. So, I gave the coil to a shop that specializes in Machine winding of coils. Ask your nearest electrical shop/ repair shop to find one out. There are plenty of shops and they usually are located around the city's workshop/automobile repair areas. It costs maximum 700Rs (labour charge + new wire for rewinding) and once you get the winding done as shown in the DC conversion instruction, mounting it back into the magneto cover and replacing the rectifier is a cakewalk (if strictly adhered to the instructions). My battery is performing well and the winding is holding good for the last 16k kms. Here's a picture of the winding that I got made.

What's the gauge of the wire, i have an rx-100 and trying to convert it to 12volts from 6 volts, i don't think that my bike can be converted to full DC, anyother aspect that should be considered while rewinding of the coil, although i haven't been able to find any good auto electrician who can do the job perfectly so riding still with feeble electricals, i need a bit brighter headlight and trafficators.

Thanks...but iam a total novice for these kind of stuff and doesn't want to mess up with my bike. I would be comfortable if an professional can take this up

              1. Check the first page of this thread under the title "useful links" for the DC conversion instructions.
              2. The gauge is 19SWG
              3. I don't know the RX100's electrical layout and the alternator winding scheme used. So increasing the voltage basically would require increasing no of turns that are connected in series, while increasing the current would require using a thicker gauge wire to increase ampere generated per turn of winding. Better to consult the internet and source any proven parts since the there is always someone in the world who has faced the same problem and found a solution :P
              4. You could try using LED lights for headlights which would give you 40% more light output compared to halogen of similar rating, but of course it is not a road legal modification

If you aren't confident of opening up your bike, then it would be better to seek a more experienced hand. You could ask your Suzuki SVC mechanic for help. I've observed that some of the mechanics at my SVC work in their free time at custom mod shops.

                Hello Everyone...

Its good to be back... after 1 long year.... Was off for Merchant Navy Training... and guess what.... they don't allow smartphones there... so, I was stuck.

As soon as I came back home, I rode my bike, and found handling a little difficult. I mean, the bike is not going in a straight line. Turning left or right, especially right is a little bit difficult. The handle is not responding to inputs and the bike seems to pull to right side a bit. The funny thing is, there haven't been any major fall for the bike. The only time it fell was when it was standing and my father couldn't handle the weight and left it to right side, so I don't think that could cause this problem. So, any suggestions please...?? The bike has done some 6000 kms.

                Thanks in advance,

                Uma Maheshwar

                  Hi All..

I bought this black bull (GS 150 r ) 2 months back. Untill 1st service from SMK Suzuki porur ,I had no issues other than hadlebar bent due to a minor accident which i replaced later.Let me list out the problems hoping to find help from this thread..

I use to get a mileage of 58-60 kmpl when ridden in economy mode with a speed range of 50-60kmph on highway stretch
Got my 1st service when odo clocked 890kms.Since then i face low mileage issues my bull delivers only 40-44 kmpl with same road and same driving patterns.I rode numerous times to service centre, but all i got was some eye washing like loose chain is the reason,2nd time they tuned the idelling screw from 1200rpm to 1000rpm but no change in mileage,3rd time they did some tuning in the fuel screw but still no change in mileage,4 th time despite of my forcing got MILEAGE CAN test with 100ml fuel i got a reading of 5.6 kms .but i used reserve to reserve method which gave me only 42kmpl,half litre homemade coke bottle mileage can also returned the same low mileage figure..

                  *Before 1st service = 60 kmpl * after 1st service = 40-42kmpl..(now my bike reads 2040kms on odo)
*I also face starting trouble (from the day of buying this bike)after being idle for 2 days..bike starts only after numerous kicks, self starts and choke..Why?

I am really frustrated of this issue ,hope someone could help me here..I will post my ownership review after getting these problems solved.Help me guys please..

                  Thanks and Happy Ramzan.

                    ** continuation of above post..

I checked my airfilter .Its clean as new
I believe spark plug have no issues as I can see blue sparks clearly.
My carb fuel screw is 2.5 (360+360+180 degrees) from lock position.Noted it while the svc guy tuned.
Fuel I use the hp bunk nearby since the first day of buying this bike..

                    Thanks ....

Source : Carburetor Tuning: Air/Fuel Equation - Engine Builder Magazine

I'm highlighting key points here, rest are available over the net in different formats.

                      Air-Fuel Mixture (AFR: Air-Fuel Ratio):
                      • Theoretically, the ideal stoichiometric A/F mixture (the chemically ideal mixture of air and fuel that is required to provide a complete burn) for a properly tuned engine running on pure gasoline is 14.7:1
                      • A more realistic light-load, cruise A/F mixture for a stock carburettor engine running on reformulated unleaded gasoline is in the 14.1:1 range.
                      • The power mixture we target for maximum horsepower is in the 12.2:1 – 13.5:1 AFR range, depending on the engine package and its combustion chamber design.

Tuning with a 5-Gas Analyser: SVCs will probably have CO, CO2 & HC => 3-Gas Analysers
                      • @ Idle RPM : 1.0% to 3.0% CO or a 14.1 – 13.4:1 AFR
                      • @ Cruise RPM : 1.0% – 3.0% CO or a 14.1 – 13.4:1 AFR

                      Important Exhaust Gases :

CO (Carbon Monoxide): CO is partially burned fuel. Higher reading of CO mean AFR is rich at that RPM.
HC (Hydrocarbons): Amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust (a indicator of an engine misfire).
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide): A gas that is the product of complete combustion (the best A/F mixture gives you the highest CO2 reading). The ideal ignition-timing advance will also create the highest CO2 reading.

O2 (Oxygen): A high O2 reading indicates a lean mixture. However, we have PAIR system to supply filtered air to exhaust system.
NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen): A gas created by excessive combustion chamber heat. This gas can be used as a precursor to detonation/backfire.

                      For GS150R

Once Suzuki SVC personnel used a gas-analyser tuned my GS150R @Idle RPM (only). When asked he only commented on ranges & charged a bomb in that service. Next time I'll try @4,000 & 6,000 RPMs with SVC/Private Emission test points.

Thanks for throwing light on A: F ratio with in depth details. I Asked for a CO test from my Svc yesterday without knowing that its a 5 gas analyzer. The Svc person said that the bike must be left for a day with them for through observation. I am going to leave the bike with Svc tomorrow. Hope my problems will be solved this time.

And so I have another doubt. which one is better to maintain the bike scratch free and glossy Teflon or clear coat ?

Can we use a clear gloss

                            Hey All.

I have been using first generation Honda Unicorn and just got engine overhaul done.

Have owned and disowned all 200-250 bikes except Ninja and want to settle for a comfortable and refined one. Was contemplating on Honda cb trigger and Unicorn again. How would gsr be ?

                            Inputs please.

                              Hi guys,

Its been more than a week since my 7th service of my gs150r. In this service, I had the chain cleansed, repacked grease of the bearings, etc.

In the past week, I felt that my bike is not running straight. I am having some off balancing issues. Before the servicing, All was well.

Whenever I brake, I feel that the bike pulls to the right. Also the handle bar doesn't feel straight. And I didn't have any accident or crash.

I had my front and rear tyres got checked and found multiple punctures. I had them resolved but still I feel there is something wrong the way the bike runs.

Even while taking left or right turn, i does not feel the same control as the original factory settings.

As per the service center, everything is fine. Buy I know something is wrong. May be in the repacking grease if ball bearings.

I drive daily 45 kms and I need to get this resolved. Please tell me what should I do.

Check for the cone set- race ball kit. Swing arm bushes might be fine, however get it Checked.
